Don't you think this anime franchise(at least this season in particular) needs an ecchi tag? It's immensely sexual and has a lot of ''dirty'' moments.

Literal definition of ecchi from wikipedia: ''Ecchi (エッチ, etchi, pronounced [et.tɕi]) is a slang term in the Japanese language for playfully sexual actions. As an adjective, it is used with the meaning of "sexy", "dirty" or "naughty"; as a verb, ecchi suru (エッチする or Hする) means "to have sex", and as a noun, it is used to describe someone of lascivious behavior. It is softer than the Japanese word ero (エロ from Eros or "erotic"), and does not imply perversion in the way hentai does.
The word ecchi has been adopted by western fans of Japanese media to describe works with sexual overtones. In western culture, it has come to be used to refer to softcore or playful sexuality, as distinct from the word hentai, which connotes perversion or fetishism.Works described as ecchi by the western fans do not show sexual intercourse or genitalia, but sexual themes are referenced. Ecchi themes are a type of fan service, and can be found in most comedy shōnen and seinen manga and harem anime''.

It’s ecchi scenes are far and few between. And I don’t think they count sexual jokes or situations. Believe me, Seitokai Yakuindomo is full of sex jokes and doesn’t have the ecchi tag. I think an anime falls in to that ecchi category once it crosses a certain threshold of pantsu shots. I once counted panty shots in an entire episode of To Love Ru Darkness, I don’t remember the exact number but it was like a panty shot scene, on average, every 27 seconds. DaL II has a lot of provocative scenes and imagery but not on a scale to warrant the ecchi tag and that might have something to do with how many panty shots there are.

Ecchi is more for the p*rn animes. The ones where you see everything with nothing blocking the view, so this one probably is fine without the ecchi tag.

It’s also been a year since I’ve watched this but from what I remember it was just more fan service if anything

I don't think it had that many scenes or scenarios which can be considered sexual.

There are also other Animes where the amount of this kind of scenes are so much but they are not considered as ecchi, I think it doesn't matter that much because usually every general harem anime has this kind of stuff to some extent

Maybe it's a subgenre? There's a lot of Animes here that lack on tags (especially original animes, those normally only have 1 tag) But most of those is because the autor didn't gave them more genres, and mal doesn't put the tags based on the content of it, they put the tags based on what the creator or the studio described it was. So probably the date a live creator didn't wanted the series to be known as a ecchi anime? I guess

Lewd scenes happen every minute or two. So if creators of ''kiss x sis'' say ''we don't associate with ecchi, kiss x sis is a fundamental philosophical documentary about human nature'' then anime itself stop being ecchi parade or what?  I actually giggle every time I see seinen tag on anime page.

Fan-service is ecchi though. What you describe is literally hentai.

Yep, it seems like MAL struggles with tags a lot. How sexual do you need it to be to be considered ecchi? If there's gore involved, tags should include gore. Simple as that.

It doesn't stop being a ecchi. That's why I said it's a subgenre, which means that it exists but it's not something that should be reminded of. I will give you an example, lycoris recoil on mal only have the action tag, if you watch it you can clearly see that there's more slice of life than action in some episodes. Yet the slice of life tag isn't there. It doesn't mean it's not existent, it just means that it's not an important point. If they had to put tags of genres for everything that happened each episode a lot of Animes would have 10 tags or more and wouldn't make sense. That's why they stick with the genres the creator said, and he probably doesn't think ecchi is an important thing to the story or doesn't what the anime to be reminded because of that.

My Dress Up Darling has legit nipples in it, is shrink wrapped, outright has so much sex implied and it isn't considered an ecchi?
Mushoku Tensei literally ended in polygamy and it isn't labelled a harem?
The double standards of the mal community are extreme.
