Coming from Bridge Over Dreams, this is very different -- while it has a lot more 'meat' to it, I feel it falls short in other places. Still one of my all-time favourites, though. Momo & Momo had some interesting chemistry, and, in particular, I loved this OVA's underlying theme:

"When the Lion roars, the whistle of embarkment that tells of the journey's start sounds out."

What really got me with this one, for no real reason that I can tell, were the last few lines in conjunction with the soundtrack:

Momo said:
Today in a station I passed by, I met her.
I had a lot of things I wanted to tell her.
That's ok.
Right?

what a piece of thrash. haven't seen the 90's adaptation but i can tell i prefer the 80's one over it. anyways why blaming the lion and insulting him? don't like how they characterized both momos... like the eighties one was savage and here seems to be overshadowed by modern momo :(
