SAO is notorious for it's awful cast. You have one MAIN girl who is chosen and in realtionship with Kirito basically from the start and several irrelevant girls who are obviously crushing on our Gary Stu protagonist (because harem cliche #1) yet after receiving their one episode (or arc) each become completely irrelevant.
As such, shipping is pointless. There is only one ship which makes sense, because author decided to hamfist it and on top of that it is straight up awful, because Gary Stu and Mary Sue combination is the worst possible. Only Mahouka did it (slightly) worse.

Kirito and Asuna have such a strong, deep, beautiful relationship. I don't see any need to ship him with anyone else.

The monogamy between them is something I fondly remember. More than once have I shed a tear, seeing how they fight and overcome even the most perilous obstacles for their love.

It's the OG romance, which has been here since dawn of time. All great works of literature have one. Romeo and Juliet, Robin Hood and maid Marian, I could go on forever... Just sayin' nothing wrong with a good old school romance plot.

Asuna is strong, smart, caring, not to mention hot as the fiery depths of Muspelheim. She's a real keeper.
