Is the anime really that bad?

This is the only Key anime I haven’t seen. Why I haven’t watched it is because of all the criticism of how bad it was compared to VN. I mean I’ve seen a good amount of anime visual novel adaptations and not once did I not like them. I’m looking for an anime only perspective on this. Is it really as bad as everyone says?

Well to be completely honest with you it is a little bit confusing from the LN but all and all it’s fine not too good or shabby either. From what I experienced it is like a 6.5 or a 7 for me on the scale of 10

Random shit just happens for no reason, without any explanation and as an audience we have absolutely no idea what is going on.

I only watched once before i forgot alot. Im not sure everything looked like normal romance comedy with harem aspect, and then world destroyed snd reborned many times and in the end of anime, they are together in middle of nowhere after world end. Point of show is that u drop as soon as u can cuz nothing makes sense

It’s the only one that doesn’t have a dub so I didn’t want to watch it, but I ended up watching it. It’s definitely my least Fa favorite out of the Key animes

nah the anime was a great adaptation tbh it makes sense they couldn't perfectly adapt a 100+ hour VN in 24 episodes especially since rewrite is unique from other vns and has alot more content anyways anime wise only it was great for its own thing people complain about the lack of explanation and while that is true just pay attention to the show as it gets explained for example many people say terra and moon was confusing but it wasn't for me I understood what was happening after a bit and it was great Overall 10/10 great series I'd highly reccomend you experience it for yourself .

That would be me! Season 1 is rushed but otherwise enjoyable. Comparable to the Air anime, and way better than the trash Maeda wrote for P. A. Works.
I regret watching season 2, however. It's said to be a huge improvement over season 1, but I consider the Terra arc to be the worst thing Key has ever done. 1/10 for Terra and 2/10 for the 2nd season as a whole.

It starts off pretty mid since its like a not very good slice of life with mystery sprinkled in, but as soon as it starts focusing on the mystery its REALLY good. I put the 1st season as an 8 (if it focused more on mystery early it would've been a 9), and 2nd season was a 9. one of my favorite anime, and its my favorite out of all Key's anime (which I love Key).

I found it very dry. From a perspective of game to anime, I do not want to use the lazy response of "game is way longer" since Clannad proved you can adapt a long game fairly well, even if there's still a lot missing. Kanon (2006), within the same episode count as Rewrite, proved that you could still do a pretty good job on short time as well.

Only regarding an anime perspective, I was very, very confused. I watched most Key games as anime before I played them, but Clannad was fairly good as a standalone anime. Kanon (2006) was not too bad either. Angel Beats, I feel is over-hyped, but does the game justice enough. With Rewrite, however, I genuinely had no idea what was going on from start to finish.

To add any more to that thought, I'd almost recommend people watch the second season first and then go back to the first. I feel like that might be a better way to absorb it. And disregarding the anime, I never beat the game, but if it's identical to what I watched and fails to exposition where needed, I am unsure if I would like it either.

The premise was really nice but they flopped the storyline. Yeah, it was mostly confusing but still decent. I scored it 8 tho. 😶

It's not that I dislike this genre but... to add unnecessary fan services to/in/for heroines
and ultimately destroys her character and personality; their purity tarnished because of it,
is the only thing I hope to not happen to them. For that sole purity is my fan service.
