I just read the afterword now, and dang, I understand why you feel that way... I like how he still meets up with his old friends and they nitpick their parts haha...

Incredible manga. Had no idea that it was based on the authors youth until the afterword. Severely underrated work.

Goodbye Bakuon Rettou, it was a great journey, as much as I had a huge expectation going into it and I kept praising it through my chapter discussions, I will say it didn't resonate with me as much as I made it seem, don't get me wrong, I stand by all the praise I've given and this is unquestionably an excellent manga filled with meaningful messages and powerful character development, which is all the more enriched by the afterword the author gives, confirming most of this story was based off his real life, a fact I was aware of before, which is one of the reasons behind my hype for it, but my previous assumptions aside, I was left extremely satisfied by everything presented in this work and I do think it should be more known and appreciated, because as much as it didn't stick with me, what's here has potential to resonate with so many people I know and beyond, it is truly great. And about thew chapter, this might just be my favorite of the entire series, or at least this final stretch is truly one of the best I've read in manga, at least in recent memory, the whole closure we get for Takashi and his way of life is truly incredible, with him passing his bike, his delinquent will, to a new "good for nothing"and experiencing hard labor for the first time, you can see this entire experience was the nail in the coffin for him to get the mindset needed to take the next step on his life and move forward.

Not sure how this got drama/action tags while being a slice of life/slightly historical manga with hardly any drama/action. Those were certainly among most misleading tags on mal.

Tags aside a decent read for people unfamiliar with JP culture of post WW2. Albeit it only touches the narrow aspect of biker popularity in 80s and general mood of society while focusing mostly on youth of that era and ignoring almost everything else. Somewhat shallow slice of life for people already familiar with post war JP. 7/10.

Going into the story I was mainly looking for a 100 chapter delinquent manga but the addon of being about motorcycles ain't bother me much. The journey of kase was a wonderful story and the fact its based off what the author went thru makes it even cooler, The widespread panels of the gatherings or the motorcycle by itself in detail was amazing even if im not enthusiastic about them it still left me in awe sometimes. Kase had his ups and downs but his final goal the teamed up gathering was amazing but I wish it had a little more, the jail arc made the story quick unfortunately but it was a bit of a downside how it happened so fast(Takashis arrest) and that one guy who was there never got to do a gathering. Its a personal desire but I think there should have been more chapters but the thing is that final 5-6 chapters were stellar. I thought Bond was tweaking but its true the zeros generation needs to get passed down but his revolting surprised me still the goat tho. Like the guy below me said I ain't resonate with it much but I can see it being life changing to the people who are into that, I loved the messages of kase's bosozoku perspective on society. Takashis conclusion was good but once again personal desire I wish there was more to what happened to him? But ONCE AGAIN the grandma did say theres nothing stopping you from having your future now lookin at it the story was really well written.
