I've been thinking that why the series like COE, Oregairu and light novel adapted shows takes more time to air. I was shocked when I read the light novel "The Angel Next Door Spoils Me Rotten", that the creators adapt the shows just by writing. Salute Them

*Hoping for Konosuba S3 soon

LN and original adaptations takes longer in the pre-production stage. Since it has a lot of content, fitting it into a 12 episode season needs a lot of work in the script. After scripting, it needs to be storyboarded, which is the most challenging part of a LN adaptation since scripting and storyboarding manga adaptations are easier.

Apart from that, the production process and post production is similar to almost all adaptations.

Agreed, I always had that thought in my mind that LN take more effort to adapt than mangas.

And that's why LN adaptation aren't able to fulfil their aim properly. Nonetheless, their efforts should be appreciated properly

Yeah fr. Adapting a LN is more tough as compared to adapting a manga.

Plus they also need to carefully pick specific parts to animate from the LN into the anime because let's be honest, it's not practically possible to include every single monologue and scene into a 12/13 episodes show.
Also in order to ensure that the episode count doesn't become too long and the episodes itself don't become too boring. Otherwise people might drop the anime if it feels boring/rushed to them due to pacing issues or any other reason.

And I am also hella excited for Konosuba S3 as an anime only atm.

thats only true if they want to do it well.

since light novels and books are mostly written, you actually need to do some creative stuff make them work well in anime format.

even good adaptations like rezero end up both being bloated with dialogue and still feeling lacking.

True, mangas can function as sort of a storyboard for the production of animes, while light novels need more work to be adapted.

Like they said, pre-production is the hardest. Too much content and the storyboards aren't "ready" like the manga.

Anime based off of manga has pictures to directly reference, original series and ones based off of LNs have to create more original images.

The spinoff source material itself simply isn't good. There is practically no stakes, no plot, just rehashed jokes. They really tried to stretch just 2 lns for a crappy source material making it tedious to watch. This is why interest crashed.

This is by far the weakest spinoff of any ln series I have read. Only one I say is worse is slime diaries. Railgun, accelerator, ggo, date a bullet are just way better ln spinoffs that had whole new dimension.
