Well 10 days to go to summon the demon Lord to defeat the goddess now. Clock is ticking.. hoping we’ll get a decent conclusion to the story.

The Dragon's sanctuary is in real trouble: the imminent domain is done for with Seek, Kakorkist and Irgitte dead, with the Noble Alliance on the heels against the Thirteen Apostles with Damian lost to the Chaos Witch Azalie.

Regardless, Almagest as a ghost is readying for the event that will happen in 13 days, with Orphen and Azalie reunited on the 14th day, blasting a hole in the sanctuary with Azalie's return. Within those days, the Demon King and the 2nd World-Seeing Tower must be activated, as Yuis and Lottecia head for the sanctuary. Leki is back to protect his own kin, and the Deep Dragon still has its own soul to live by.

The numerous enemies like the Red Dragons to the Thirteen Apostles under Master Pluto, the speeding of Almagest's extermination since the destruction of the imminent domain, but the Dragon's sanctuary is a whole other notion together that the Thirteen Apostles have no right to destroy it, no matter how strange it is. And Orphen will go at it alone, even if Pluto has to raise his weapon against him.

Calamity draws ever closer...

It's nice to see the lord of the domain get confused by the whole situation, but then I realized that I also get confused by the whole situation too...

For the ones who don't remember the Demon King flashback: early season 2. This episode was good overall, considering that everything is rushed. Next episode will probably wrap novel 19 and novel 20 will run for 4 episodes (probably).

How good is the adaptation? I didn't find reviews of the novel readers, only people throwing shit to the anime only for the animation

They tried to keep as faithful as possible to the novels, but the low tier budget animation doesn't help. In order to keep to episode schedule (12 episodes cour), tons of content got cut, so at every moment you have important stuff and plot twists happening, which lead most people to be confused about the plot (but watching the same episode twice can help with that).

This series is called Stray Journey, summing up 20 novels, 18 got adapted for this remake, novels 2 and 3 were completely cut. Book 2 is the Steph novel, if you watched the 1998 anime you'll know what I'm talking about. Novel 3 never got an anime, but it's in the both old and new manga (the novel is better than both manga adaptations), it's the Fool's Hound story. So, in terms of being faithful, I give it a 7/10 because it's rushing like crazy. The only book which got a decent-ish pacing and was still a little rushed was book 14, episodes 6-9 from Urban-Rama (last season, early this year).

So, in order to be a good adaptation, being somewhat faithful to the source material is beyond basic, the animation must be top-tier, the director must be creative, basically stuff you see in SNK, Chainsaw Man, all those great anime that are massive, not only because they're faithful to the source material, having high quality animation, catchy music, well paced arcs contribute for them to be what they are. As far as a novel review, I know a single video about it, the first novel:

The novels are very good. They're no avant-garde, groundbreaking piece of post-modern art like Ghost In The Shell but they're very well written, almost no plot holes (and thus far there are actually no plot holes, considering I've been reading the Orphenpedia with machine translation), most characters are very well written and developed (this is the most harmed aspect of this remake, all the nuances are rushed and cut) and the worldbuilding is solid and creative, it's based on nordic culture mostly, with slight hints of other european stuff: Claíomh (the blonde girl) comes from Claíomh Solais, a sword which appears in scottish and irish folktales. The Baltanders Sword comes from the german creature Baldanders, a beast who has protean properties, so the power of the sword alludes to the creature. The three goddesses of destiny are a copy and paste of the Three Nordic Norns.

It's like dungeons and dragons with very unusual twists and turns. Sometimes when Orphen gets the short end of the stick I imagine him rolling 1 in the die and it happens quite a lot. So, I suggest you to read at least novel 1, it's the first Azalie arc, the one where she was the dragon. You'll be familiar with some stuff from the anime but you'll find new things, the cut content, you'll also see the pacing is better and not confusing. I hope I've answered all of your questions and sorry for this wall of text.
