Is it a slice of life?

I've recently asked if Dragon Maid was more of a slice of life or more of a comedy, and a lot of people said that it's a slice of life or both. So, I wanted to see how many people think it's a slice of life. 58% of people said it was more of a slice of life, but I intentionally didn't put a "both" option, so I imagine the percentage of people who think Dragon Maid is a slice of life is much higher than 58%.

When you ask "Is it an Slice of life or not". Everybody going to say yes. if you ask "Is it SoL or comedy", it's definitely both, and saying "but it's more x than y" makes no sense, because these tags don't take over each other
But also, "comedy" is not really a genre, it's more used like a subcategory to another genre, since context is very important to setup the jokes, unless is gag humor.
Is it more SoL or comedy? Yes and yes, depends how you look at it
Does it matter which comes first? No

I personally like to define a slice of life as the show primarily focuses on the relationships between these many characters and the community they're in. Of course, there's fantasy elements, with 99% of the main cast being dragons. but each episode is about their everyday life. There was a whole episode where they had to move to a new apartment because Kobayashi original apartment was too small for a wife and daughter.

Having aspects from life like scenarios does not make a show slice of life smh. People that think it is don’t understand what ‘slice of life’ means.

“The characters are eating! Everyone eats every day!”

‘Slice of life’ means it portrays normal everyday life. Adding fantasy concepts removes it from the category. A woman fighting the king of dragons for the right to have a relationship with his daughter is in no way shape or form ‘slice of life’

I completely agree. The people that push this kind of animation are the reason people where so against ‘Japanese animation’ in the first place. This trash is targeted for child groomers.

That is not quite true, a show with fantasy elements could also be slice of life, Mushishi is a prime example of that.

Not if the premise is the fantasy. Unrealistic themes are what makes fantasy, fantasy. SoL literally means the premise is based on realistic life scenarios
