Seriously, what is wrong with everyone? Those 2 were not good people and deserved everything they got. It would have been ridiculous if those two morons were reincarnated.

Ginti showed growth as a "person" and offered Mayu a second chance. And then she squandered it by choosing to sacrifice someone else's life to bring Harada's soul back. WRONG ANSWER.

Ginti turned out to a decent guy, I thought.

Lol, now the 7000 death/hours makes sense.

Seems like Ginti feel some 'emotion' when he sent Mayu to the void.

Now this got me wondering whether the reincarnation elevator will truly lead them to reincarnation or it's leading to the same destination as the void, well they only showed the void destination, so all I can do is assume. However, I'm guessing this is the kind of trick that Oculus design to entertain himself.

Well, it's not shown whether Mayu decided to sacrifice Light in exchange for Harada or not. It could be her own choice to stay with Harada in the void.

Sorry I couldn't resist...

Great Episode, I loved the skating scene and the ending.
The little death note reference was great tho. I will now proceed to think of this as a Death Note sequel.

She says, "He lied!" when she sees her skin disintegrating. Which, to me, means she chose to send the mystery guy to the void in order to get Harada's soul back. Because you do see Harada "wake up" eventually.

She also says she "decided for herself how she was going to live even if it's not a life that others would be proud of." And that she devoted her life to Harada, and she thinks there is "meaning in that". LOL ok whutevs, little girl.

To me, her decision was obvious.

Bold of anyone to assume she chose to sacrifice the other guy. She decided to sacrifice herself for Harada in the end, clearly. When Ginti asked her that same thing some episodes before, she didn't have the courage, but after a bit of time, story progressing, and the other choice she was given, she ultimately decided to sacrifice herself.
The "he lied" is about him telling her she would get sacrificed to save him, instead she realized they were both going to get sacrificed and not just her.

In any case, even if Ginti is a gynormous asshole, the ending scene with both going in to the void is romantic as fuck. I didn't see such an excruciating tragic romantic ending since a certain scene at the end of Mawaru Penguindrum.

Wow.

We finally get to see what happened to her to come here.
That was a pitiful life, maybe all could be avoided, maybe one single action or word could have lead to a different outcome, but that maybe is too late now.

All for that asshole, I knew he was going to do it, fuck you.
Maybe he was pitying them and as such, decided to cast them both on the void so as they could be together forever, but that is just sugar-coating it.

I really dislike this argument these arbrings seem to pull out over and over again, it is dumb.
People tend to forget about death, and when it is near, they suddenly cling to it, but of course you dumb fucker.

No one can live his life normally, without breaking inside, being constantly reminded of his own mortality and inevitable end, it is in our brain's defensive mechanics that make us shy away from it, so we can at least enjoy life to the fullest, sure it is good to be grounded sometimes, know it won't last forever, be thankful, but that is as far as it would go.
And of course, people will cling to live when they see the flame fading, it is natural.

Such dumb reasoning, it is annoying the crap he is constantly said whenever he is in, makes me want to wish he was real so I could pull a punch of that fucker face.
If you disrespect the act of living, don't expect me to show any consideration for you.

Fantsatic, amazing episode. Literally not enough words to describe it. I dont wanna watch the last ep :( But I must in order to give this a 10/10 and put it on my favorites list.

Because Mayu chose to go to the void with Harada does that means the "unnamed guy" would go for reincarnation?? Lmao obviously he's not going to but still it freaked me out for a sec. Thank god I have common sense.

2 things in this episode that stood out:

Chiyuki's figure skating scene. I had forgotten she was the skater! What a beautiful scene, this is anime at its absolute best.

Light Yagami appearing! I think DN made it pretty clear that he's in Mu, aka The Void. So I don't know why Maya was presented with the option of sending Light to where he already was.

The arbitrariness of the judgment system is maddening (which I’m sure is the point, given we have Ginti’s story at all).

Unless there’s a rule I missed that states someone who is reincarnated will possess the same fundamental characteristics in the next life, most of the void sentences seem overly harsh.

Harada was a juvenile, selfish playboy and Mayu a shallow high-school teen. The former expressed regret and a willingness to change at the end of his ep, and Mayu hardly lived long enough to mature past her schoolgirl idolizations.

Who’s to say these two, or most of these guests, wouldn’t be better people if raised in different circumstances? Nona recognizes the flaw in the system, Decim is starting to, and I wish we got another season to more deeply explore.

Anyway, to say Harada and Mayu deserve to share the same fate as, say, an unrepentant serial rapist seems phenomenally unbalanced.

Eh, Decim always said life was unfair. I guess death is, too.

ice skating scene was great. she performed as if it was her life, started off well, she succeeded many tricks, and she fell. the performance ended once she fell, once she broke her leg, her life basically ended. became hollow, like a doll.

and mayu.. aaa i was really hoping for an ending where she didnt have to go to the void. but at least she was happy. she's fucking stupid, but she knew it, as she said she decided it on her own.

ginti's a real ass but im sure he's also confused and frustrated on a lot of things

next ep's the last episode.. really hope they end it well

I don't think people really listened to her, it wasn't really the loss of ice skating that did her in. She was alone with her thoughts and got existential and that's when life truly became empty for her. Her talk about not truly knowing people sounds like one of the main existential concerns, isolation I believe.
I'm annoyed that Mayu chose to devote herself to someone she is barely connected to. I get that they had a moment, but that's probably all it was. I hate when they try to make bs like that seem noble or good.

Ginti gives Mayu the choice to choose another human soul to be sent into the void in exchange for Harada regaining his but that guy in the picture looks like Light Yagami... Death Note reference??? Because it is said in the series that Note user won't be able to go in heaven neither in hell, so he can go into the void in this verse? Interesing?!

It looks like the void isn't being erased but a living Hell after all. It's a storage compartment. Utterly unethical and needlessly sadistic, goodness.
Ginti is a psycho but he serves his purpose in the narrative by being the obligatory piece of shit.
I hope Decim would have sent both souls for reincarnation after that game of twister.

The doll concept is so interesting. Decim cares deeply for Chiyuki. Sending her off will feel like death. I'm disappointed they didn't fall in love and just have a friendship in the end, but it's for the best because we didn't get enough interaction between them to build it up.

Ginti couldn't decide where to send the girl because her memories are insufficient and the game couldn't draw out the darkness of her soul. The idol was already sent to the void because of his kicking attempt in the game.

Ginti had to pull a new game to decide about her soul and trick her into believing that she can recall the idol's soul from the void but she had to send an equal soul in his place. The equal soul is shown in the screen as the dude resembling Light. I guess that's a nice touch by Madhouse because both the idol and Light has the same VA. We didn't see her pushing the button but obviously she decided to send an innocent replacement just to recall her idol. So Ginti send her to the void.

Ginti made the right decision. People questioning his decision are idiots.

Harada had all the makings of being a void placement. Selfish, shallow, a serial cheater and caused one of his lovers to commit suicide. He deserved void without a shadow of a doubt.

He was on the fence with Mayu. So what did he do? He tested her by asking her to choose Harada and other guy to go to void. Mayu didn't even have the audacity to ask who the other guy was or what he did in his life but instead blindly choose Harada. Ginti gave her another chance by asking her what her life would be without Harada and she said "nothing". Totally meaningless. Meaning that if she was to go reincarnation, her life would be meaningless unless she found someone to look up.Void was her destination.

Ginti was on point and the people crying foul, need to grow the fuck up.
@Gov While your comment seems logical it contradicts the meaning of the show Ginti is someone who sees things in a clinical manner without recognizing human emotions while Harada wasn't A saint in life he sure felt guilt for his actions which is why he wanted to make things right in the next life

And yes she did ask.

Fictional media always defaults to ice skating when it wants to dramatise the fate of a driven, presumably classy sportswoman. Combine that with the melancholy orchestral music played over a sappy slideshow montage of a career-ending injury, and it's almost humorous in how shamelessly tropey it is.
