I just finished watching it in the cinema and want to specifically talk about the visuals. There's so much more 3D integration in this anime that's been blended to perfection. This is easily the best-looking Shinkai movie so far, thus, the best-looking anime ever made yet.

Not really sure if it is the best looking anime film ever made, but at least I can say it was captivating. The visuals were impeccable.

I prefer some of his previous works, this didn't look as good as The Garden of Words and Your Name, for example, and CGI was noticeable.

[SPOILER] I didn’t mind it but I would have preferred less CGI for the worm at the end when Suzume goes into the ever-after other than that it was a visually beautiful and I can’t name any other flaws

I would say anime movies peaked with Redline for production quality, but this is definitely top 3 for visuals.

This is among the best visuals I have ever seen in a work of animation. And it’s backed by a very solid story, that hit hard emotionally in several moments. Such a fantastic movie.

The CGI is well done. But if we have to talk about best visuals on a anime movie of all time, this is not on contemplation I think, even if we're talking new gen, is not but sure is more close to.
Movies like Akira, Innocence, GitS, Garden of Words, Redline, Kizumonogatari Trilogy, The Disappearence of Haruhi Suzumiya, Madoka Magica Rebellion, Tekkon Kinkreet, stuff like that can be much better IMO:)

I hated the CGI and 3d elements tbh. Felt like a corruption of his usual style.

I doubt the movie looks better than Your Name to be honest, Your Name had a crazy line up of animators on it.

I think the best looking movie in the last few years is probably Kaijuu no Kodomo

CG Integration

@NineTnk I looked at the line up for Suzume and is indeed really good too, can't say it if it will be better than Your Name without watching but certainly way better than Weathering With You.

Oh yeah I forgot about Children of the Sea, maybe I was disappointed with the story, I blanked it out of my memory.

Definitely tops everything ufotable has done. Does the cgi and effects much better than them.

Every frame of this movie is pretty much flawless and makes an excellent piece of art, poster, background art etc.

Better than Weathering With You, worse than Your Name, Akebi's Sailor Uniform, Violet Evergarden, and Tsurune Linking Shot, but it's up there.

No. Garden of words is still unmatched. I even prefer your name visuals above this. But comixwave is GOATed regardless.

3D CG was a bit distracting at times, but is probably the way more things will go in future....

Character Animation however was WAY down from Your Name, it's very good TV-standard animation by very good animators, but this is (mostly) not the top-level movie animation talent that worked on Your Name.
