| Okay-ish conclusion for the first arc of the series, not much focus on Anis this time to instead shift it to the "mystery" surrounding Lainie which anticlimatically being Alegard's doing all along. Good riddance he got banished as the whole sibling quibbling that went on for like 442494 bazillion years is only followed by a 10 second fight before Euphie saved the day This volume does introduces Tilty though and I'm very intrigued on her and Anis future escapades now that the Kingdom lost its future King. huh MAL wont let me edit topic titles anymore so I cant change it to "Volume 2 discussion" instead of "Chapter 2 discussion sadge Mod Edit: Modified title for clarity and/or easier searching. |

| I have a few problems with this volume tbh, I havent commented on the previous one, but I have seen the anime first before reading it, and I do consider the anime improved some stuff quite nicely, original intro and extra weight to certain scenes (the dragon fight felt lackluster in the LN vs the anime), but still vol1 was quite enjoyable with all the extra details vs the anime. For Volume 2, I have barely seen what the anime adapted so far, what I disliked the most was that I really couldnt approve the role the writter decided to give to Algard, must of it felt like BS, how they became aware Lainie was a vampire, how could he resist her charms, what he did near the end too, going so far as to stole her Magicite. I also disliked that part because it honestly felt the natural thing to do in the end was to have both him and Lainie killed, it felt a bit forcefull to have the conclusion we had, where her Magicite after stolen grown regrown again with blood, but Lainie was a character that received more focus on this volume, that I want to read more about, how certain developments happened during this volume felt way more forced vs volume 1, and those I liked I was able to overlook (and rejoice we had a more positive outcome), whereas those I disliked, I really wish were handled in a more organic way. A solution might have been to have more foreshadowing to what was going under the scenes (which the anime seems to adress), but I also feel Algard's character was just fucking ANNOYING, it was not until he ended up defeated and changed his tone, that I actually came to sympathize, but I really feel the writter could have handled in better, still make him the villain, but make the readers feel mixed feelings about him, rather than just pure anger and hate at a one-sided cartonish villain. If I liked this volume more or less vs the volume 1, hard to say, but I like Euphy's development for sure, Tilty was a positive addiction too and Lainie, I was quite amused over her behavior during the scenes where it was revealed she was a vampire, she was fucking adorable, almost to the point I want to ship her with Anis, but I prefer Euphy more for that. I do feel that if Algard cames back, the epilogue did raise seeds for there to be a good love story between him and Lainie, would be interested on that, otherwise, all other hetero couples can go die in a fire, and all my focus goes for the yuri stuff, which have been quite light so far, but I know the next volume will give me the desired doses~~ |
