Yay time to go into space... My guess is that they'll go to earth for a fight.. End up getting stranded.. Spend 7+ episodes getting back into space.. Then some more fighting in space.

Just like the last 2 series xD

Don't get me wrong I enjoy this a lot! ^^

Finally, out of the Colony! Those episodes so far didn't show any progress in the story, I hope it changes now.

Nice characters! They are getting better developed than the Zeta ones. Judau is more annoying than Kamille in the early Zeta episodes. And WTF is Bright doing? He was amazing in the past two series and now he got tricked by Judau --"

I've been enjoying the series from the start, perhaps my expectations of the series were low, but either way I like Judau at least he hasn't done anything stupid like Amuro in the beginning of MSG or like Kamille(I still love the previous series of course and am not dissing 'em).
There were a few parts that were funny like the soldier caught listening to Mashymre.

There aren't as many funny moments anymore but at least they're in space now.

I don't like Judau and I don't hate him either but he's probably one of the most forgettable MC pilots yet.

Though no one can be as forgettable as that one guy from Stardust Memory.
The characters in that OVA were utter shit.

alright this is getting pretty bad, the comedy in this series is just so unfunny and forced, also what they did to yazan is just insulting to anyone that watched zeta

Good episode, but yeah i agree the atmosphere is too light heart.

Zeta has a lot of death tolls, and those who mourn, instead of crying like babies they would rather avenge their fallen comrades even if it kills them.

I understand Judau is still getting used to Zeta's controls, but man he really should not be goofing around like this.

Mashymre is still obsessed with Haman-sama. I have a feeling he's interpreting something different to what Haman really means when he was under her wing.

And lol Yazan is a joke. Seriously, They should have killed that bastard in the beginning.

Also, so their leaving Kamille to Shangri-La?!?! Wtf is Fa thinking?!?! Unless she has connections and people taking care of Kamille, this is definitely risky as hell.

I really hope Kamille get's back to his condition and join the battle in the near future.

Can't wait for the next episode!

Yazan got disrespected so hard he can't even distinguish Kamille from Aikido-kun. Shit, even his piloting skills were nerf'd to the max: what happened to the Titans' ace, goddamit! At this point I'm just hoping he will either join Axis and regain his dignity or simply disappear without ever bein mentioned again, because at the moment every second this poor bastard is allowed to appear on screen is physically painful for me to sit through.

Aside from that, the best thing about this episode was Bright's one-liner about Roux's big balls; the rest was extremely mediocre at the very best. The show seems to be slowly shifting from his comedic tone to a more serious one, as evidenced by the diminishing number of gags, but the problem is that the stupidity is still there. Judo is still goofing around with the Zeta when he should've had plenty of time to open the fucking manual, Yazan became completely pathetic, Marshmallow is a bloody idiot and unfit to lead, Fa left Kamille inside a freakin Axis-infested colony etc.

I know right? Axis is aware that some of AEUG's soldiers are recieving medical care in Shangri-La: if they get their hands on the registration records and find out the enemy's former ace pilot is one of them, this might be really bad for Kamille. I seriously hope she took the proper measures to ensure his safety.

Good point: Miss "french name" 's pretty 80s clothes. Makes slightly up for the change in character design style (I miss the style of most of the previous characters)

About time they leave the colony! But do they intend to come back for their hospitalized members as soon as they get rid of Mashymre?
Still no hierarchy to give them mission orders (ZZ makes me miss Mr.Lee despite my absolute dislike for him), thanks to the internal conflict who just ended. And that is exactly what is missing in this series who started as a direct sequel to Zeta but "stopped" right after to wander aimlessly. (probably the Argama too will wander without a goal now).

Yazan trying to kill the boy who saved him because he mistakes him for the pilot from before...
Those young Axis Zeon soldiers are in no way fitted for a war. They seem more like a bunch of regular or nice guys who were recruited on a peaceful colony through whatever lie one promised them, and rushed their formation camp.
Judau accepted to become the Zeta's regular pilot but did not try to learn a bit more about it? -_-

2/5 The cheerful tone does not do it anymore for me: at first there were a few occasions to smile but since last episode it isn't even funny anymore. I also don't like how the ambient stupidity is staining Bright.

@drokstar I can't talk for 0079 because I first read The Origin (who had a perfect fluidity) then watched the movies trilogy (who had abrupt "transitions", only the third one has a good sense of tempo). But Zeta's pacing was pretty horrible, I would dare to say. Sometimes 5-8episodes felt like 2episodes material was overstretched, then you had a few eps (1-3) where all the events/informations just rained on the audience. Not to mention the way they relied on mecha action to fulfill the series and make it seem larger than it is: 50% of almost every episode was allocated to (often aimless) skirmishes.
@drokstar I see. I suppose the "fluff" in 0079 you mention is a series of useless skirmishes like what I disliked in Zeta? Then Yasuhiko did an outstanding job to filter things from the TV show. Glad I started with The Origin instead of the series. ^^ I would have certainly liked MSZG better in such a cleaned form.
I am so clueless I actually thought there was a lot more in 0079 than in Zeta XD. Character-wise or let's say on a personal level, the sequel was great but I felt like 0079 had far more content "world-wise" and story-wise (is it english? my excuses if it is not).

@Rei366. Zeta's pacing is pretty bad, but it's different from 0079's. 0079's plot is pretty barebones if you consider it has 40+ episodes, the White Base takes up to 11 episodes to go from point A to point B, and then finally moves the story forward (followed by more point B to point C action, until the anime finally decides to wrap up towards the end), the episodes which contain fluff heavily outweigh the ones that contain plot. Zeta on the other hand has its pointless episodes, however I think the story-relevant ones balance the others out by having a lot going on (too much at times, wrapping your head around Zeta's story is a daunting task).

tl;dr- 0079 is a simple story that takes way too long to tell itself, while Zeta is a complex story that sometimes has inconsequential episodes to balance out the important and chaotic ones.

I don't even know what to say.. just a bad episode. Nobody else found it out of place when Judau killed the fat junker dude? I was expecting some kind of comedy moment that would get him out of it.. but nope.. he's just.. dead. Really does not go with the theme of this episode. I had high hopes for this episode after the previous one, but after this, you cannot take anything seriously.

Even if I'm not too fond of making characters behave like dufus (especially Yazan who has a pedigree of killing important characters in the prequel) I can tolerate that kind of behavior but my only gripe so far is the portrayal of death in this show (which to me is a serious matter) so foolishly.

On a side note:
Did they just leave Kamille there? Well at least his medical treatment won’t be interrupted by all of this fighting so he can get better.

So, they've finally gone into space.

It looks like chubby is dead, but I believe that Yazan survived, because we clearly saw him parachute out of his mobile suit, although everybody else thinks he's dead. Zeon soldiers certainly seem more honorable now.

Way to hold a funeral, oh man the atmosphere for that one was too funny.

R.I.P. Gemon, you won't be missed. Luckily Zazan is still around, he lost his prestige as fighter, but works still perfectly as a clown xD

Roux casual clothes are pretty stylish, I should say. She managed to become the most useful character in the show in a matter of 2 episodes.
Kamille and other injured crew members were left in Shangri-La? Press F.

I just thought that Elle looks straight like a character from the Akira world in her outfit, lol.

By the way, I think that Fa's nerf can be attributed to the fact that she's not used to fighting within the gravitational field - we know that it feels different from fighting in space, and iirc Fa has almost always fought in space during Zeta. There was one (?) episode where she was forced to fight in Von Braun, but she was pretty clumsy back then.

Looks like they're out in space now. The Side 1 arc was ok, probably the episode I didn't like was the one who introduced Gemon as antagonist. I think he's dead now.

I don't think the anime wasted time. Mashymre is an interesting antagonist and the anime doesn't show Neo Zeon as complete monsters like the Titans.

@FreshIngredient I watched the sub and I'm surprised no one's mentioned this yet but at the end they find the bone from bit Yazan was eating and whoever did the translation translated it as "chicken bone". Not sure if they weren't watching him steal that pig before or cooking it and eating it this time. I found it somewhat funny as well as frustrating, cause what else hasn't been translated right? I've seen the subs in the series use words that haven't even been said or just plain using wrong word eg chode, what a 'stupid' sister, fatass etc.

Overall though I'm so far enjoying ZZ better than I was Zeta. I didn't like Kamille at the start due to his attitude but Judau I've not really had a problem with so far aside from one or two things.

Yazan I did see alive when he stole that pig who was sniffing around Gemon but I don't know when he started working with him or got a mobile suit. Is this going be another instance of things happening off screen but then being talked about as though we were there.

@ChiisuNoYo i think we're watching the same subs, i've encountered a lot of mistakes before the pig's "chicken bone" one too. sometimes it'd be passable enough as a reinterpretation that got a similar message across and sometimes it was just plain wrong. or changed the nuance ever so slightly in a way that impacted the scene. not sure what's the deal with that.
