this is the most i've been impressed visually with a modern cute girls anime since Flip Flappers. i love the visual range and stylistic abstractions, the mixed media segments were really great. it's really fun that whole scenes will start with a fun gag and then imply it's turned diegetic like Bocchi in the coffin.

i hope this gets a second season to develop Bocchi's character more and her relationships with the other girls, i think there's a lot of potential here for something really wonderful. i had a lot of fun watching this.

the whole time i was watching this i kept thinking how Nijika looks like Fate from Nanoha

Best episode since 8. Good mixture of a payoff and comedy. I think it's fair to criticize the arc or lack of from 8 but idk if that's just par for the course for cute girls doing cute things anime.

The final song seems thematically out of place but sounds nice enoguh. Does sound like something Kessou would play.

Solid show. Solid Season.

I'm not usually one to write a review on an anime, but this anime has really touched me in ways I couldn't describe
This anime was amazing
I love the interactions between the characters and their development throughout the anime
Despite covering around 6+ months' worth of events, this 12-episode anime was perfectly paced
I don't know if it's because of the production team or if it was the mangaka's storyboarding (as I haven't read the manga yet), but either way, this anime was phenomenal

Although, I am quite curious about Kita during the 2nd song of the episode
I wonder why she detuned her guitar for that part

Honestly I'm still astonished that a music CGDCT anime became essentially one of the most popular this season, even airing alongside CSM, Bleach, etc. Cloverworks did an outstanding job with this adaptation and leveled it up in every way possible, and the animation was so creative. All of the characters were so memorable and funny. Bocchi the Rock is a phenomenon!!!

Great finale for this first season of this series!

I loved the work in this episode in how they tried to make it emotional due to the fact that it was the last chapter and to maintain the characteristic and comical humor of this series.

In general, the entire series was top for many factors, such as having an adaptation that far exceeds the manga and adds many more scenes.

An unforgettable series and being the surprise of this fall 2022 season, although it was not such a surprise for me since I was expecting this series from 2021 and it was worth it.

I hope there is a season 2 (although there is not much manga material to adapt) and that it is as good as this season 1

Bocchi the Rock has a rating of 10/10 for me
I'm not a critic or anything like that but I like to give my opinion

In all honesty, you people are on crack, this is no way as good as everyone is making it to be and it's just a proof of how shallow the modern anime landscape is nowadays. When a show has just a slight bit of engaging directing and does bold take on a established genra, it's instantly heralded as the greatest show ever meawhile I'm sorry but if you call Bocchi a CGDCT show, Akebi Sailor fuku is several miles beyond as a CGDCT show this year.
I mean just look at this climax, do you really consider this final concert even comparable to GOD KNOWS ?! Anime had a lot of these festival concert and all and clearly this is great, I love the the minute long introspection of just Bocchi breathing in anguish, but this is no K-ON, this is no Angel Beats and this is no Haruhi, emotions just aren't there.
If you're new to anime I can clearly see why you'd love Bocchi the rock, it's clearly a Zoomer anime for genZ and people born in the '00s. Huge emphasis on social media and internet fame against real fame, Bocchi is clearly a mirror of a lot of young genZ kids with social anxiety accentuaded in a modern society of complete extrovertion with everyone's life constantely on display. I do believe Bocchi also mirrors a lot of japanese utaites that made their career on the internet the same way she did, inside a closet by just grinding.
Bocchi when peaking is clearly deserving of its success. These few performances have showed us it's possible to utilize rotoscopy for insane cuts of animation but to the contrary of what everyone believe because they're too obsessed by the relatability "fr she just like me fr" they forgot the show peaks only a few times during its run. Mainly ep1, 5, 8 and perhaps 10 and 12. The rest of the show is just build up with good comedy, extremely good comedy skits but not deserving of such praise.
Anyway K-On! legacy seems to still be honored, this show reeks of K-On wannabe to a point no one seem to be aware of, genki drummer leader of a band (Ritsu) and her autistic school idol friend (Mio) pick a up a loner guitarist (Yui) before endorsing another guitarist that will look up to the first one (Asuza). The personalities have just been a little bit mixed up with a bit of Yuru Camp added in, there is absolutely no problem of taking inspiration of the pioneer of the genra on the other hand so proprs to them.

This was a bittersweet climax, the father coming in clutch with the YOUTUBE MONEY ITSELF is definitely the highlight, pure f*cking Kino. Now the album has dropped I can say most of the songs are pretty good, standard jrock but some really stand out, the op is a galactic banger still.
8/10 descending to 7 when everyone will eventually forgot the show a year later unfortunately, the seasonal anime cycle spares none.

Awesome episode, beat my expectations too actually. This anime was a happy, fun series to watch. The aniamtion was solid and fun, the creativity was great, the comedy was funny, and the music was freaking great as hell too. Passion projects are really the best, and the staff were certainly so, it really showed. Kudos to the staff, they pulled off something great. It would be the best thing ever if the same staff can get together again and make a second season, it would be my most anticipated anime ever if so.

I'll be rewatching this anime quite a bit from now now on. It was that good. I don't usually rewatch anime either, so that says something. Anyway, Hitori and Ikuyo forever! Such good girls <3

Ok, I'm not new to anime.
But, I still love it nonetheless~

---

Does anyone know what tune Roy played when she tested the bass?
I thought the sound is familiar, but I cant recall. Jojo's shit?

---

I was hoping for a superb concert tbh. Still a bit sad we couldn't see Bocchi's solo.
But, still quite decent with Kita's and Bocchi's improvisation.

Personally, I think eps 8's insert song is the peak for this season.
Regardless, it was a funny series + a good rock/band series <3

I had multiple literal LOLs throughout this series.
Kudos to CloverWorks elevated a 4-Koma manga and creating an amazing anime adaptation with a good mixture between humor and rock scene.

I Hope CloverWork would continue with S2.

In my opinion, this last episode is a bit weaker than previous episodes, both in terms of music(Ano Bando still my favorite song from this anime) and some visual presentation, but still, it was very fun. But I can't shake this feeling that the ending felt less like an ending and more like "a little rest before next episode", I hope that means we'll eventually get another season!!!

When I started watching this anime I didn't expect anything more than "a 6/10 anime that's not bad to watch", but this anime has exceeded my expectation many times, easily my Anime Of The Season!

I thought there would be a louder snapping sound when Hitori's first string broke, but maybe that doesn't happen on electrically amplified instruments?

Not sure what the significance of her using the beer glass to play is... Could anyone enlighten me?

As for the failed stage dive, I'm inclined to blame the crowd and Kita for that one more than Hitori.

I'm kind of surprised someone like Hitori uploaded via an account she neglected to remember her family had knowledge of, and even access to, so she gets a big surprise this episode when they reveal they know what she's been posting and writing online.

Anyone know roughly how much Hitori's new guitar was worth? Someone else commented that Kita's 6-string bass was a model that would have been priced a bit over 150k yen.

So btr is finally over... gonna miss bocchi and her insecurities... This show is definitely is the dark horse of fall season....I didn't thought btr to be this much good after adding it to the watchlist...

Cloverworks definitely did an amazing job in making this show... I hope they will announce the sequal soon coz the score is skyrocketed now

Where should I start? I discovered this anime through a YouTube video of a scene from chapter three and that was the best thing that could have happened to me, because thanks to that I got to know what would become one of my favorite anime.

The animation, the soundtrack, the character design, the comedy and the story are simply fantastic and I absolutely loved them, they are of high quality and very varied. I have enjoyed every second of the anime and have completely fallen in love with this work and everything in it, something that doesn't happen to me very often.

The dynamics between the characters and the development they show is quite satisfying, not to mention that I easily connected with Bocchi-chan which made my experience watching the anime even better.

On the other hand, I'm glad for the popularity the anime gained and I'm looking forward to a second season, which would be great if they would announce in the special event that will happen next year.

Anyway, Bocchi the Rock! was the biggest surprise I got this year (and a great Christmas present) and it earned a special place in my heart. I will treasure every moment I spent watching the anime and I will enjoy finding references, gifs or illustrations of the characters on the internet.

idk why you made an entire paragraph ranting why the modern anime are shallow xD.

my guy. CGDCT are very much saturated. and something like bocchi standing out is a testament that the anime brought something into the plate that everyone likes.

even those who ignored k-on likes bocchi a lot.

Now, is bocchi a carbon copy of k-on, my answer is no

Bocchi is bocchi. its story is pretty grim tbh since we're talking about someone with social anxiety putting everything on music and dont get me start talking about kikuri who is basically a girl who's gonna die in a very young age as her alcohol addiction goes in a downward spiral that it started to affects her life. this is a direct opposite of the lighthearted story of k-on. (pretty much, k-on sugarcoated a lot of things. its unnoticeable until you realized "well..if i'm that position, i maybe in a fetal position")

Yea...honestly, even the peeps who watch k-on will directly tell you the two anime were widely different and cannot be compared.

even the characters. my god.. Mio and Ryu? no.. they are different entities. my guy Ryu will thrive on lonely situations and never care about her surroundings, mio cares her surroundings. so how its similar XD

Wow, we just went straight for the performance at the beginning of the episode.

Holy fuck man, what an absolute masterpiece, there is nothing to complain about at all even if I tried, this is one of the easiest 10/10 for me.

Cloverworks really was in their bag with this show, so much passion and love shown for this adaptation. Honestly though, Cloverworks killed it the whole year, well, except for Tokyo 24th Ward I guess.

Teared up on Kessoku Band's performance, that's the culmination of this season right there folks, beautiful.

With how much the series blew up, I pray for a second season.

The concert was great and Bocchi-chan fixing the guitar issue by changing her playing style was neat. I do sometimes wonder if Kita hasn't become the main character but at the same time it shows her growth as a person, so that's fine. The super saiyan transformation was fun, lol.

For me the episode where she opened up and noticed the audience wasn't the enemy, had more impact, but this was still a good season finale.

Of course, it had to be Bocchi who would do something as silly as diving into the crowd and expecting it to work without issues! XD

Either way, the school performances went really well, with Kita showing how much she's improved as a guitar player, covering for Bocchi when she had string issues. After that, with Bocchi's money from how well her Youtube videos have done, she and her friends went guitar shopping and Bocchi got herself a nice new guitar.

With that, this series has come to an end. I'd never expect this series to have as much of a dedicated following as I thought it would and it 100% deserves it. While the background filtering in some scenes weren't the best, the rest of the production values put into series was top notch, with the animation style for the funny Bocchi moments being as impressive as the smooth animation for the song performances.

9/10 will be my final score and I hope we'll have a second season soon. I'll look forward to more fun with Bocchi, Kita, Ryo and Nijika very soon! ^_^
