| The pacing still feels rushed and the story ends clearly baiting you to play the game to understand the story from beginning to end. The fight scenes still looked cool and the music by Go Shiina continued to be fantastic. I think I know what I will be listening to for the rest of the week. This isn't quite my favorite "Tales of" special, but it was still a lot of fun. I wish it could have gotten a full length adaptation, but it was fun regardless. |

| at first i thought it was going to be full length until i saw the episode count earlier. condensing the story formula into two 30 minute episodes is definitely a bummer and everything just happen out of nowhere but the fights and music were pretty good for what it was. and we get the Tales “these guys are goofballs” humor in this episode even if just for like a minute 6/10 |
| Lol so they pulled a star wars death star plan! I wonder if Celia also bullseyed womp rats back home with her T-16! So yeah still not gonna play the game, thought this show sucked ass. Again the 3D 2D mix was a little weird. And it's really lame it's not a full season so I can actually get what's going on. But whatever. Plot wise tho this episode was fucking gaaaaaaaay! First this Hugo is all about helping the citizens in this war. But he's fine with blowing away and killing a good 30% of the town. Then he's ok with firing a giant gun that will kill many innocent civilians. And the only explanation he needed to justify his willingness to let all this slide is meh it's war........sooooo stupid. The white wolf comment was fucking dumb as well, Hugo you know all these questions you have about murdering mass amounts of people and we have no clue what our leader is thinking or why he's doing all this... Well shut up we soldier we drink poison derp! Yeah sounds like Nazi camp guards. Hey we have a crazy mustache leader that is telling us nothing but doing a lot of crazy shit..... Hugo-meh it's war, White wolf- we soldier we no need to know we drink poison derp, black wolf- silent.......ok black wolf at least seems to not give a fuck about any of it so works pretty well with the don't need to know just kill everyone narrative. Then Leo asks I hope the towns people will be ok and instructor woman is just like well we gotta hope the empire helps them.......the same empire that blew half the town away just to take it back......huuuuuh! Also how are these towns people not like rising up to help take the town back when they literally just murdered half the people you knew! Sooooooooo stupid having the empire trying to seem rational cause they are taking the people in the hospital out and giving aid to everyone they just almost killed.......so dumb. And didn't all the strong dudes just bounce? Why can't you 4 strong people left just take the town back from the peons. Whatever this show sucked the more I thought about it. |

| If this was a way to make people play the mobile game they didn't succeed with me. The characters and plot are pretty generic and the animation is not that good IMO. Especially with Ufotable doing those top tier animations with the main line games it just makes this looks really bad. Overall it wasn't a bad watch but not a good one. 5/10 |

| As a player of the game, I think they did a pretty good job with the fanservice (there were LOTS of references) but yeah, it was mostly to hype casual people with action scenes to actually play the game. This part of the story is actually new for everyone, as even the game hasn't showed it, so for me (knowing the context) this was a very interesting addition to the lore. From what I understand, Tales of Luminaria is going to be a sort of multimedia series. It's possible they plan to release such animated OAVs about every 6 months (which is the length of each story arc in the game), so we'll probably see another mini series showing other unreleased parts of the story. By the way, if you're interested in knowing more about the story, playing the game is much recommended. The characters are simply fenomenal thanks to top-notch storytelling, and you get to play from the point of view of 21 different characters spanning 8 cycles of episodes (for a total of almost 180 weekly episodes), so the storyline is going to be huge. |

No, Hugo's reason for betraying the fed is not that simple and far beyond helping citizens. Even for me as the game player, I still don't know. They keep it secret for the future plot maybe. The citizens don't fight back because there were many fight to gain control over the city before so they don't care anymore about which side they are in (more like exhausted). Those 4 people are almost nothing compared to the empire. You can see the huge power difference in the game. Btw, if you feel the plot is confusing, I believe that most of the answers are in the game. I think this anime is meant to be enjoyed for the action scene to attract casual audiences for the game. So honestly my bad and it was fine even for just a casual viewer like me. Thanks for the info! Its good to hear from a actual player of the game. Helped me get a better perspective of the show. |

Even if you play the game you won't understand everything, all the story still on the "episode 1", with a lot of questions to answer, this anime for exemple still won't appeared in the game, only in the opening with some scenes like the fight between Lucien and Alexandra. And about the animation, amazing quality, it's 3D but very beaultiful and fluid, the 2D scenary makes everything better. |

| Pretty sad to learn its just 2 episodes. The actions scenes were really nice, Might look up for some YT play through but I am not picking a gacha game ever again. Too dangerous for my wallet. |

| I really like how realistic Lisette is, she is refreshing if you think about it, she see the situation and basically saying "This can go wrong without plot armor.". And Lucien too. And after realizing that they have a MC by their side, to the battle it is. |

| Mc power suddenly increased and destroyed that Counselor overwhelming power protection. Alright. At least he did a good job to recovered the tower, and reserved the surrounding areas back to nature, even though the city fell under Empire control. Idk if its mean 1 for Federation, or 1 for Empire. Lets just say its deuce between them. Overall, its still too short to be caren of, but other aspect such as music background and animation surprisingly quite enjoyable. Ads as its goes, and its no different from this. I believe this is better to stay at this short format, rather than having full season with same rushed content that seems like to be the same. |

| While the action choreography is quite good, the CGI animation is bare bones and the character behavior is painfully stereotypical. It certainly doesn't make me want to play the game. It's watchable, but only just. |
| And..... Bamco shot the game down. Good luck getting a finale to the story in any form now. They probably won't do it. |
