Probably too late but I would say sub since this place is set in Japan. For me, I prefer subbed anime if it takes place in Japan since it feels more natural. Also, I would say the acting for subs is a tad better than the dubs. Granted I only watched one episode of it dubbed.

In the episode discussions I noticed a lot of people watching raws, watching fansubs, watching subs and posting things like;

I wasn't paying attention

I goeggled x and y because I wasn't sure

I came on here to read the explainer and then I rewatched the expisode and now I see it.

I watched the dub and did not have to rewatch a single episode to understand it.

There is some thing that many poeple who watched raws and who watched subs spent 33% of the series confused about.

It was super obvious if you watched the Dub (+ if you gave it your full attention + are at least mildly genre savvy).

[If you're a young weeb you're probably not going to get everything, whether it's sub or dub]

If you watch the Dub you are looking at what the characters are looking at when the characters talk. Instead of watching what words come up on the screen while one or two other characters are doing things without speaking.

This I think is a big reason why many people completely failed to see super obvious things (because they were not looking at them, they were dividing their attention between the key animation and the gaijin subs.

There are 3 main things which tell the story:

The Key Animation (This should be obvious from The OP),
The Sound,
The Things That Are Said.

If you pay attention to the sound. (I recommend good quality earphones and a quiet environment). The makers of the anime will tell you things using the background sound. The changes are some times very subtle. You might not get what they're trying to tell you if your attention is divided into too many activities; Following the key animation, Listening to the Background Sound, Listening to the characters tone of voice and what they're saying + Reading The Subs.

The best advice I can give specifically to a potential viewer who is worried they will somehow miss out on some thing if they choose Dub instead of Sub is to just start watching Episode 1 Dub. Then immediately watch Episode 1 Sub.

Some thing which I've noticed is people do not say if they watched Korean Subs, Chinese Subs, German Subs, French Subs, Asian Simplified English Subs, Arabic Dubs, Italian Dubs, Etc.

I've seen people post screenshots in episode discussions of some anime (Classroom Of The Elite is an example) showing different versions of English Subs for the same scene.

It would be helpful if people specified what Language Subs they are thinking of watching.

+ Reading level and / or Sub Company.

Some Companies do Simplified Subs. Some Don't.
