So far I’m 7 episodes in and noticed there’s a difference compared to the other seasons in a sense where things feel a bit slow, was wondering if this season is more of a training arc type before the play nationals or nah ?

That's correct. The first part of the 4th season is actually a training arc and a "warm-up" in the national arena. You went through the training though, I think it ends in episode 8 or something.

I'm not 100% sure but I think they might change a director as well.

Because I feel a bit different from ss1-ss3.

Yep, its kinda similar to season 2 if you think about it because they went through a training arc first before the tournament.

It does feel slower compared to the other seasons, mainly because we don't see a lot of action from hinata himself, as he's just been observing and trying to understand other aspects of the game (volleyball).

I personally like this arc though, because I think it contributes greatly to hinata's growth as a player, since all he's been focusing on was spiking the ball for the past few seasons.

that's correct. It was a bit slow compared to the other seasons for the training and the build up

Also could be the art style. The animation quality dropped a little bit… really hope they don’t do this for the upcoming movies

It's because new director likes to end EVERY goddamned shot wih a slight pause. Hence the energy of the show is somewhat lost.
