Just finished watching this anime and it was quite an experience. The animation was really decent, the characters were on point, the dialogues were captivating and the osts were really good as well. I wonder, why it doesn't have a higher rating? I'm really curious about your opninions. quote; I have no info about the previous adaptation, I'm just talking about the 2019 version :).

definitely underrated, but probably because the way that both of the Boogiepop anime are told is very disjointed. like, you don't get what the story really is until the very end.

I liked this one because the tower motif was so interesting.

I asked myself the same question when I watched this thing 2 years ago. Most underrated show I've ever found.

I think it’s good, but scores don’t really reflect the quality of a show, especially these days
The right mindset when watching an anime is hoping that it will break your top 10

people who aren't smart enough to understand it would rate this lower than a 6/10

honestly? both. some people get bogged down in the weirdness of the show, so some people stop watching, making it both underrated because some don't appreciate it fully, and misunderstood because its more than a "trippy anime"

This show really isn't designed to be loud, flashy or mass-appealing - Boogiepop isn't that kind of story. The heights and climaxes of the story are built slowly, often in a non-linear fashion, and are only really going to be rewarding if you're following the themes and can empathise with the ideas it presents.

A lot of people aren't great with handling the non-familiar, non-linear, 'weird' stuff, or themes that don't immediately present themselves to you. It only takes a brief read of Paprika's forum comments to understand that a great deal of people will much sooner jump to the idea of something having absolutely no meaning, than them failing to get the meaning. God forbid you might need to rewatch something a bit or think about something for longer than 10 minutes to gain more from it...
