Man, food chain is a bitch. Seeing Faputa literally getting torn to pieces by the 6th Layer's fauna was definitely something else.
But seriously tho, it's been a while since the last time I saw this level of non-edgy graphic violence in anime. Impactful stuff.

Another masterpiece of an episode. Direction and especially OST did wonders once again.

The sadness in this show is as unfathomable as the Abyss, and yet hope still manages to shine through with promises of both Curses and Blessings. Truly beautiful.

This and the last episode have been the peak of the show for me honestly. Gorgeous music, animation, and so emotional. In general they've really put this season in perspective for me and its beautiful to see how well they capture and characterize such chaotic and messy characters like Faputa in a way that makes them feel 3 dimensional. Easy anime of the year for me. Honestly this was a better season than the first even. I can't wait to see how they end this season but just wow.

Penkin gotta be in hall of fame one day. His OSTs are just generational. This was just an incredible episode. I feel bad for belaf, but at least he finally redeemed himself at the end for what he felt like he failed Irumyuu on. Can’t wait to see powered up Faputa next week

In an ideal world I’d see vueko and faputa go on with reg and riko and nanachi. But I doubt we’ll get that

There are aspects of this episode which are totally stunning. Gabu's ending is a real tear jerker (more so than the manga). The anime censored the most brutal injuries Faputa sustained here, but the "villager buffet" scene at the end is still an eye-opener.

Damn, I am so disappointed in this arc.

The more Faputa shouts out her "motivation" the more believable it gets. She is a one-dimensional character that has nothing but revenge for something she didn't experience. And there's so much focus, and she will most likely be part of the crew.

How did she survive outside where there were even more animals? And the robot surely wasn't stronger than her to protect her.

Nothing in this story makes sense, everything is there just for convenience. All the world-building went from best to worst.

I wish I could delete this season from my memory. Feels like I ordered my favorite food I wanted for a few years, but I got a turd.

I understand the frustration. Although it seems to me the worldbuilding of Made in Abyss has never been logically airtight to begin with. The manga/anime does certain things extremely well, atmosphere, Lovecraftian horror/body horror, etc. It's good enough to warrant my reading, as I am still interested in finding out about the ending. But it's not a masterpiece on my book either.

What a fate. Her mother gave everything for the survival of the village people and now they're giving themself up for Faputa's survival. Seems like she ascended to Reg's level of organism.
Can't wait for the finale.

Intense episode. It was surprising to see Belaf alive and Nanachi leading him (that helmet looks dope af). Faputa's desire for revenge must be immensely strong, with Belaf pulling a sneaky one on her and not making her change much. It will be interesting to see if Nanachi was right about Wazukyan, kinda don't want to see that happening to them, but it doesn't have to be exactly like they've shown us.

that was nothing but amazing the emotions, the depth of human mind, the turn of events and the atmosphere were second to none other anime.

although I wonder how Faputa survived in the wilderness for all these years with these asshole monsters around, but the bigger plothole was the number of invading animals, it's not like they were waiting at the front door in the previous episode. It could be seen as metaphor, since Faputa collected a lot of bad karma for her actions in the village and getting eaten all the time was her punishment.
Maybe Faputa will realize that surviving in the 6th layer is so hard that there was no other way for the villagers to survive than what they did.

Why would Juroimoh listen to Faputa when holding down Reg

Riko looked a bit drunk in this episode or the gore made her feel sick, I think the author should give her more moments to shine.
It's heartbreaking how the villagers try to protect Riko even though they are scared to death.

Wazukyan is quite attached to Vueko, it's a creepy kind of attachment but he is keeping her save.

I don't think that the arc can be wrapped up with just one episode left, it worries me a bit,
but I have started reading the manga a few weeks ago...

Holy what an episode!!!!
Sadness, happiness, relief and horror mixing so extremely well, the studio done an absolutely amazing job on this part. Nanachi's return made me so happy after the long absence in this arc. Faputa took center stage and I think we could all experience what she went through when the memories flooded in. She now has to decide her own value through her own actions and her own desires instead of relying on someone else's. I think there's something important to be learned from that. And also that revenge ain't everything there is to life. Because what do you do after...

A lot of fighting but clearly animating that isnt the strong point of the studio, some characters died but not to much emotional impact there, Faputa screams too much, is she hanging out with young Eren?. She is fullfilling his desire of revenge by making a breach into Iruburu and letting the local wildlife kill the villagers but no, she wants to kill them herself or his revenge willnt be completed in the right way, weird logic there. Considering how strong is the wildlife in the 6th layer, is practically 100% impossible for Riko to survive from now without tons of plot armor, I wonder how the writter will cover that. Nanachi arrive was a bit uncomfortable but anyways, 5/10 episode and season is at 5/10.

Also, that cheap cliffhanger last episode of Reg "dying". That's some Battle of Winterfell episode shit. Remember when people would pay high prices from doing the smallest mistake, and now plot armor decides everything.

Jesus Christ, I feel like I say this in every episode.

Being Faputa is pain, born with revenge filled into your very being only to realize that you actually did not know anything except for cannibalism, oh and let's not forget about all that physical pain, damn. Made immortal just to suffer. Belaf deserved better too man, at least he went out like a g. Gabu too, damn it.

I laughed though when Faputa was having her buffet and she grabbed those few poor souls, while the others were just giving small pieces, I thought it was not fair lmao. But man, it goes full circle now, they ate Irumyui's children to survive, now they're feeding themselves to Faputa for her to survive.

Can't wait for the 1 hour finale in 2 weeks, I am sure it's gonna hit like a truck or maybe a bullet train.

Man, it all coming full circle with the villagers offering themselves to Faputa to feed on to save herself after they'd survived through eating her siblings. What a beautiful, extremely fucked up show this is. There really is nothing else like it.

Another week with another amazing MiA episode!
Btw, two scenes that really stood out for me were, when Gabu got killed it reminded me a lot of Android 16's death in DBZ, and when Faputa got pinned it looked a lot like when Guts got pinned during the Eclipse.

Oh man, so brutal. They really didn't censor the gore. The manga was definitely more detailed which in a way makes it look more brutal/gross, but that's mainly a time spent drawing the frame thing.

Faputa doesn't really know what to do about the village anymore, but at this point it's all too late. Can't wait to see the ending. Probably going to go to the end of volume 10.

They definitely know how to play with your emotions.

RIP Belaf for showing Faputa her mother’s memories.

Even though she was killing everyone brutally, I felt bad when she was getting thrown around like that. Hopefully she find a better purpose and leads a better life.

The City breaking down goes to show just how much everyone was protected by the barrier. Sad to see everyone getting slaughtered by the outside monsters. Looking forward to the finale

We got the OP back this time.

I wasn't expecting Faputa to get wrecked by these monsters. What happened to the ultra violence that fueled her just last episode? She can only be brutal to people who can't properly fight back?

because she is obviously weaker than the entire hoard ig? i mean its so obvious that she's literally trying her best, this is not a battle shounen where you scream and defeat everyone....
