| WARNING: This may cointain spoilers since I'll be talking about events that occurred between Episode 1 and 35. So if you haven't watched SuperGals up to that point, PLEASE BE CAREFUL/DON'T READ THIS! -------------------------------------------- I'm enjoying this series a lot, and that's a matter of fact. I love the characters, their backstories and everyday life, the comedy and so on. But there's something that really bugs me since the very beginning, and you know what I'm talking about: ✨Otohata's shitty behaviour✨ I don't even know where to start...I think it's better to talk about Aya for a sec: She's very shy, self conscious and her character goes through a lot of changes in a very short period of time: I mean in ep 1 she had no friends at all and her whole life was basically: make your parents proud of you...bleah! It's hard to develop a personality when you are forced to meet people's expectations and prioritize other people's happiness over yours. We can say for sure that she still has to find out who she really is. Because of all this, she is unable to be fully herself when around Otohata cause she's afraid of "not meeting his expectations". This trait MIGHT be very unattractive to more """""mature""""" guys, however it's understandable and are all very common in teenagers who have no dating experience at all. Her new friends do understand her, care for her, and they try their best to help her with her problems. You would assume that Otohata would be there for her as well right? ... Let's analyze this better: why does she feel like she has to meet Otohata's expectations? Reason 1 is of course the fact that she loves him, she's insecure and stuff BUT REASON 2 MY DEAR GUYS, IS THAT HE'S BEEN AN ASSHOLE FOR THE WHOLE TIME and for literally no reason...but let's dig into it. The first second he appears on screen, he basically says that he's usually very selfish, not very passionate and doesn't like to "go after people". And while this is NOT an excuse for shitty behaviour, it's still ok like...we accept you the way you are. However that's not ok anymore when he starts playing with her feelings for basically no reason Aya confesses her feelings and wants to hang out with him more to know him better. He basically ignores her completely (huge red flag wtf) until they talk for a while, and he has a better idea of what kind of person she is (with all her insecurities and stuff). You don't like her? That's totally fair, happens! But no, apparently he's interested in dating her. So from now on you would expect them to hang out together right? You would expect him to care for her (just like she cares for him) and reassure her/support her right? Well....no He basically never calls her (if he does, he talks like he's forced to do so), when they are together he remains silent all the time (or doesn't even show up directly), he never appreciates anything she does for him and literally EVERYTIME, he points out there's something wrong with her behaviour when ALL SHE REALLY DOES is literally try her best. And that's so heartbreaking like...why would you do that? Especially if you say you're interested (and you know she's very insecure). Aya is then basically depressed all the time cause she can't even talk with the guy she's DATING...cause hey hey they're DATING NOW apparently. And she becomes always more and more insecure and cries 24/7 cause she doesn't get what's wrong. And what's his reaction to this? He says she is acting like a child. EXCUSE ME WHAT? OH CAUSE YOU'RE NOT DOING THAT AS WELL RIGHT??????????? Why is this totally one-sided? Again, the fact that you don't like to go after people IS NOT AN EXCUSE to avoid your responsibilities...and he's not even trying! And what's even more frustrating is that everytime Aya's friends try to talk with him about the situation, he simply says stuff like "uhm I don't care", "uhm it's not my problem", "uhm I'm me and Aya's Aya" or "wHy dOeSn'T sHe SaY tHiS tO mE dIrECtlY?" and then walks away like he's the coolest guy out there. Like seriously is this even real?? YES THIS IS YOUR PROBLEM SINCE YOU ARE DATING HER, HELLO?!?!? WHY DON'T YOU EXPRESS YOURSELF CLEARLY ABOUT WHAT YOU WANT TOO THEN INSTEAD OF PLAYING WITH HER FEELINGS?????? Why do you say it's ok to date her if you don't care at all? Why are you okay with Aya crying all the time because of your shitty nonsense? Cause guys this literally makes NO SENSE...and sounds a bit sadistic too. I don't know if in the remaining episodes they'll EVER explain why he acts like this...and honestly I really hope so cause if there's no explanation he's easily the most toxic person ever really. The worst of all...like come on. Let me know what you think in the comments...I really had to vent on this with someone cause this is so heartbreaking and annoying |
| First off, so happy people are still watching this show. I even have a volume of the manga and the series on DVD. Second, I completely agree. He’s so aloof in everything he does. Even in interviews, he comes off as a jerk. I get him not wanting to always do them but come on man. You’re literally famous for being good-looking…that’s it. He definitely should have been nicer to Aya. She didn’t deserve his nasty attitude. She liked him for him, not because he was famous. |
