Another sick person...yike. I guess this show will feature a lot of these from now on with our characters having to come to the recuse.

Ellen needs more confident in herself tbh. I think she has a lot of potential but needs to be more self confident. With Falma's help, I believe she can reach her potential.

Things are going well for the main it seems he is solving the problems presented to him pretty well.
And it seems his father already suspects him doing something good behind his back, even curing his little sister.
It seems his father is sick as well the question is what is his problem and how will the main solve it.

Decent episode, I'm glad Farma was able to convince Ellen to come back, and he curing his little sister's chickenpox was really cool too.

It's pretty obvious his father is sick, so I'm curious what will happen in the next episode, as he will meet the empress too.

Elen’s reaction, though comedic, actually makes sense. I mean not having a shadow aside, Farma’s knowledge and understanding of medicine is beyond this world. Plus his magical abilities are practically unheard of. He’s like a god. I can kind of get being frightened of that, though if she really was scared of him idk what a suit of armor is gonna do against those powers haha. But nice to see her come around!

His diagnosis skill and ability to like synthesize anything is quite handy. It’s kind of interesting to see all the different ailments affecting the people in the mansion from the minor to the slightly more serious. The science in this is pretty interesting. If we had used anime to teach science in school, I might have done better lol.

It was nice to see his modern medicines at work like with Blanche’s chickenpox and Elen’s fever, but I think it’s gonna cause problems. His knowledge and skills are already miles ahead of anything anyone is doing or even understands. The medical knowledge here is practically medieval and the medicine is little more than snake oil lol. Plus with his whole commitment to
treating people regardless of class, I could see him ruffling more than a few feathers moving forward. Looks like next week he might be involved in treating the empress. It’ll be interesting to see what Farma concocts up next.

Great episode! Eleonore has called in sick and it is Falma's job to deliver a potion to her. He makes sure it is effective before he does though!
He manages to calm her down by giving her flowers also and tells her he doesn't want her to quit.
She is back the next day!
He sees his maids and staff helping him have injuries with his eye.
He gets to work on making treatments for their injuries. The substance creation helps greatly!
Everyone was happy to recieve his medicines which was nice to see.
It was very nice to see Falma treat his sister who had chickenpox. His father also seems ill...
He puts the medicine in a macaron!
Farma has to leave immediately for an emergency house call!

Looking forward to the next episode!

This was another good episode, but I would have loved to see Farma explain some of the scientific concepts more. Him using acyclovir with the correct molecular structure was so cool. With how he thinks, however, I know 100% that he would have talked about how the compound is meant to mimic a precusor of a component of DNA called guanosine (EDIT: guanine is the actual name of the nucleotide; guanosine has a ribose sugar attached to it). When viruses try to use that molecule to make DNA, they'll fail and the viruses get destroyed. With it being hard for the Hep c virus to develop resistance against the antiviral, it's no wonder Acyclovir remains effective for treating chickenpox so fast.

He will go into more detail when actually explaining stuff to other characters. Right now he is talking to himself so more detailed explanations would feel weird.

Episode was ok. I would be surprised if medieval medical equipment was actually sophisticated enough to create complicated modern day medication. Is it just me or is it weird that anime acts like molecule formulas give you a good understanding of that item?

Gonna be honest, I feel like the ending of the last episode hyped me too much. The whole deity markings and powers, no shadow, his teacher genuinely terrified and running away....and then this episode they just moved right past it all. Not a bad show, but I'm getting flashbacks to Ascendance of a Bookworm. Guess I should lower expectations ont his one...

You thought he wasn’t gonna be overpowered? Well, think again. He’s very much overpowered in this word anyway. One summons of H2O should be enough to level a very small city.

BTW, he should just f***ing examine his father already. I’m surprised his doctor's senses are tingling already. Mans was checking random people and he sees his father coughing TWICE, and doesn't think to AT LEAST check to see if something is wrong smh

What’s sad is medical experts make dumb decisions and procedures IRL too. Farma’s notes mentioned giving NSAIDs to the guy with the knee problems even though the notes also mentioned he has kidney problems. NSAIDs can worsen kidney problems in long term use which is a poor tradeoff.

Given the surprise, I'm not surprised that Elen remains scared about Farma and his "properties", thinking that he had an ulterior motive with the mark of Panactheos.

However in all sense, this is Farma, no tricks and trades, just himself as he is: someone without any control of the Divine Arts. But seeing how this is Elen's way of being protective against her ailments, it's almost hilarious on its own as well while the classes commence between the master and apprentice as per usual. But it must be said that while Farma's "special ability" can be labelled as heresy, he must conduct this under his very own watchful eye, the secret that only close ones will know, while getting the medicine out for everyone, thereby earning their trust as well. Making medicine for the masses regardless of social status, Farma's the everyday citizen saviour.

The de Medicis daughter Blanche down with chickenpox, it would not be surprising for Father Bruno to know that much about its effects, much less being exposed from isolation and its written infections being severe. And this is no problem for Farma treating her with medicine yet unseen, though he must be careful about his words while continuing to treat her until she's well.

One emergency call to the palace of Her Majesty, and it's a huge job, so awaiting what disease in store to solve and cure.

Kind of wish MC isn't overpowered, especially with the medicine stuff, so they can turn this into a Isekai House where he can diagnose things more properly and make this show more like a medical detective show. Like, obviously, the instant chemical synthesis part is alright, since there is no way he could have provided those drugs otherwise. But I didn't really like how his eye just give him diagnosis very cheaply. It would be more fun if his eyes are more like instant lab results or chest XR, and then he can explain how he arrives to his diagnosis based on those findings. Like, Elenore has a fever, is it viral or bacterial tho? Wouldn't it be more interesting if his eye can just tell him white cell count is elevated, no bacteria detected, clear chest on XR, and congested nasal mucosa, so she probably has upper respiratory tract infection and just need some acetaminophen for symptomatic control?

Then again, its probably just a me problem since I know too much about medicine lmao. And he is a pharmacists, so his strength is more on prescription and pharmacology, and less on making diagnosis.

Otherwise, the show seems okay. Let's see if they can come up with a satisfying story about providing affordable healthcare to isekaian. lmao

I have to say, I was sold immediately just by the inclusion of not only valid science, but also the actual official/institutional culture and practices in modern medical science and its historical and ongoing evolution in this episode (so, not just the obvious in terms of something like chemical structure, but safer/more effective prescribing patterns rooted in pharmacokinetics, changes in societal awareness around pathology even up to present day, etc.).

As I mentioned in a previous post on the sub-forum, since it's another interest of mine, I have been partially looking and partially hoping for a series which incorporates some legitimate medical science and other intersecting fields with it - pharmacology, pharmacokinetics, electrophysiology, biology, etc., ever since Hataraku Saibou. Not saying the series will delve into all those and the various other sub-fields at all or with any depth, nor even that it necessarily should since it isn't a nonfiction audiobook of a textbook with some graphic illustrations thrown in for fun and as mere framing devices after all, but it gives the series some immediate substance lacking in others when the people writing them actually know what they're talking about and it's immediately apparent in which direction (authentic versus inauthentic) said series falls when weaving in such topics to anyone with even a sliver of a modicum of knowledge in those fields.

traed said:

Oh God, is that ever the truth. The ignorance of some doctors even at the specialist level of the deleterious effects of some individual medications or even entire classes of medications on a person with certain pre-existing conditions, susceptibilities, etc. or just promotion of unsafe use practices even without is frankly commonplace and shocking and horrifying in terms of how widespread in extent it actually is. Down to many doctors just outright ignoring FDA health and safety guidelines on certain drugs. Or not even being aware of the wide range of adverse effects of even some of the most commonly prescribed (talking in the tens of millions of prescriptions written annually nationally) medications. How certain medications can even cause iatrogenic illnesses that didn't need to happen and which will then later be written off as idiopathic because of a broken federal (in the U.S. context) drug safety watchdog and ADR event reporting system. The monitoring window for even many double-blind, placebo-controlled clinical trials is also limited and faulty.

That part about the NSAIDs did rile me up and I'm glad you brought it up here to summon it to the forefront of my mind again. It won't prevent me from watching and appreciating the series, because the medical realism melded with a fantasy setting is a new experience for me in anime/in general and unique in that respect in and of itself. Ironically, some incorrect decisionmaking or analysis whether in this episode or later in the series would sadly actually serve to make it more realistic...

@WatchTillTandava
yeah.

I feel it wasn’t even incorrect by coincidence. I think the kidney problems may have been added in after the NSAID was planned in writing to sort of imply monitoring of kidney problems worsening from the NSAID use. Though the order was backwords from logic in how it was written so it sounded like it was ignored entirely. Still though it’s not a logical choice since the problem will eventually arise and NSAIDs have to be stopped and something else used which defeats the purpose at least when treating chronic conditions.

Also more minor issue I just recalled now. The NSAID to bring down a fever isn’t always necessary either. Fevers exist for a reason, they are part of the immune system and only need to be brought down if they reach close to a dangerous temperature and when bringing it down using cold rags on main arteries in intervals could often be good enough, so use of an NSAID is only necessary if that fails and dangerous fever levels still ready to arise or already occurring and not lowering from using manual temperature control. Though in theory also adding a neuroprotective could help lessen damage from fevers that are not able to be controlled though Im not sure I heard of that being done before.

Blanche is very cute and it was nice to see her remind Farma of his sister in his previous life. I'm glad he helped the servants too but that may bring unwanted attention. Also, I think his father has TB, hope he checks him out soon. They removed echhi scene with his mother...I guess they are gonna remove it all in next episode with 'her majesty' too. I am kinda disappointed...was it necessary to make it 13+ and not 17+ with slight pornography? Well better than nothing i guess.

Nice Farma repaired that Elen relation, tho she still thinks he god or apostle.
Medically accurate is good, but so much jargon feel like a show mainly for doctors/chemistry students.
MC gifting flowers and fancy salve boxes to them, nice boy but a fast way to pile up misunderstandings.

This show feels like Dr Stone but with significantly less goofyness, I don't mind it.

The detail on the medical knowledge is good even though I have next to no idea what any of it means it's good to see a story that has extensive detail in it.

One of the best shows this season after only 2 episodes.

Good episode, good mc, good characters. The only issue I find is MC not "scanning" own father who seems to have lung-related problems most likely. Would be good if he checked mom too, simply to be sure she's ok...

Well, Eleonore is going to continue to be Farma's teacher. Although she will be cautious xd
Farma has helped the servants, but with what Blanche told her, that she was also sick, they don't know about viruses and stuff. He's going to have to be a bit careful when trying to help. "Her majesty" has called them, let's see what happens.
Good chapter, the ending is very good.

Lol Falma and Ellen have a pretty fun relationship together, that's also nice how he was able to cure his little sister's sickness, though everyone in this house has a disease, wtf.

As a current med student, I'm definitely enjoying this so far and it serves as a nice little review. It also makes me realize I should be studying more :')

BTW... do they not have bras in that Fantasy World?

Or is Ellen just not wearing a bra under that wet white shirt?

___ ___ ___

BTW, I still have no idea why the Medicine God is "heresy"... helping people = bad? huh... sounds like Rich People scheme so they can make more money out of poor people.

Jesus Christ, while everyone dressed up decently, there was a exception of the tutor for the sake of blatant fan servcice.
