Clearly those reviewers went into it with the intention to hate it and their salty reviews showed. Good thing the community enjoyed it though with a score of 7.44, which is a pretty great start.

Shield Hero apparently was the worst anime of 2019 because it put spotlight on false reyp accusations. All this during the height of #MeToo era.
They behaved like someone's political weapon took a hit or something.

I really enjoyed the episode, yes it was not upto a mark and sometimes felt laging, but it doesn't mean u can throw all your hate just by watching only 1ep

It was fairly fun, well animated/produced and who doesn’t love a good bit of ecchi here and there. I enjoyed the first episode. I didn’t think it was a masterclass or anything super special but I think it will be an enjoyable watch.

Considering ANN standards, I would say the were positive for the most part. There was one review however, that made me sigh. The reviewer lowered their score because Viermil showed no consent. Lol.
Anyways, don't care about ANN. Don't care about MAL either. Just enjoy it for what it is worth.

Of course, their opinions and reviews don't really matter. I do enjoy laughing at them though, sometimes they can be ridiculous enough to a point where they come off as satire.

They're bound by corporate policy...

Regarding one particular complaint. Irony is there is no non consensual sex, if Vermeil pushes too far Alto says no and, despite being massively more powerful than him (and an actual demon), she stops.
