I really want to start the manga but I really would hope to see it adapted. Anyone think it could? Anyone a fan of this manga?

So here are patterns for anime adaptation
- Comic Days, the magazine that this is published in, does have a few manga that have received anime adaptations
- Recently licensed and published in English- this is usually a good sign
- it's recently finished at 100 chapters, which is a decent length for a 12 episode anime

However,
-There is no English or even a Japanese Wikipedia page for the Manga, which would indicate popularity.
-Both the artist and writer are new to manga, and have little to no other works.
-this manga features mental illness as a major theme and apparently it's a somewhat taboo subject in Japan
- plenty of Japanese amazon Reviewers don't like that Saitou kicks dogs lmaooooo
- the manga has not been nominated for any awards, which is usually a good sign for potential anime adaptations (but not always)

Overall, if this does get an anime adaptation, it's gonna be years from now. I could see a live action adaptation as well, since the story doesn't really NEED to be animated. So just read the manga.

as much as I'd love to see this manga get adapted, I don't think it would be very popular (especially considering the topics discussed in it.) we can keep dreaming though :'o

As someone who’s Asian, Asian people are 500% more likely to get triggered by topics such as autism lmao ☠️ the amount of resources and awareness surrounding mental conditions is almost nonexistent there. Asper Kanojo should give u some insight on how difficult it is

Yes, but half the kids these days self diagnose with autism on the internet, so be mindful of them.

Haha. I have an autistic brother (diagnosed) and have talked to many autistic people. I don’t think Asper Kanojo portrays anything that is triggering on a mass scale (except the dog kicking part goddamn 😩) and I think a lot of them would appreciate being represented through neurodivergent characters.

You know the more I think about it tho, you’re prob right in a sense.

There’s a saying in the community that goes “if you know one autistic person, then you know one autistic person.” Because neurodivergent people are on a huge spectrum and every individual has different needs.

The main character in Asper Kanojo is a bit violent i feel like some people would take offense to that. Not all autistic people are violent and they might not want a portrayal like that in media. This is just an overall issue with autism and media unfortunately.

I am personally autistic, and I really appreciate most aspects of the story. Yes, she can be violent, but that's because she's super traumatized, and seeing them go through life together and try to improve their lives makes for one of my favorite series. I think most people here overestimate how angry people they know little about get over things.

The part of the dog definitively will trigger people in the West, and I'm afraid that if it became adapted, neurotypical people, especially those that don't know much about ASD, would make a bad image of what Autism/Asperger's is.

I’m an Aspie. I would like to see this manga adapted into anime. I don’t watch or read media (movies, series, non-scientific books) related to autism, but this manga is the first that makes me feel identified with the main character.
Most of the other media, like Good Doctor, Move to Heaven, or Attorney Woo, display autistic characters with super-powers (savant syndrome, a super memory, etcetera), while others show more stereotypical cases like Sheldon Cooper and even worse, Raymond Babit. Not all ASD cases are like that, just a few.
Asper Girl displays a more realistic case of autism for those in the high-functioning end of the spectrum —I know how harmful function tags are, but I think I should be clear in my comment. I don't want to argue it.
Her way of being is influenced by all the bullying she received in high school. From my point of view, it's not a happy story like many others with characters on the spectrum, so maybe this won't make it popular.
I didn't receive the same kind of bullying as her when I was in school, but for the rest, I feel represented by her, and I don't doubt that many others on the spectrum will.

Highly doubt it. Too much dialogue where nothing "engaging" regarding events happen (very character-centered).

Wait it's a manga about autism? As an autistic person it sounds interesting, I've had enough with western media representation and the amount of time I want to shout WHY IS THE CHARACTER NOT CANONICALLY AUTISTIC?! So a story with real representation might be nice
