I don’t know where to start, I feel empty this is the most depressing anime I think I’ve seen my throat is dry and I feel sick to the pit of my stomach, I cannot comprehend what those garbage humans did to Seita and his little sister not helping them throughout the whole film, this was so depressing to watch might have to take a break from anime for a bit.

I watched it last weekend and feel the exact same. This is one of few anime/stories that give you a whole new perspective in life about basically everything

My "issue" with this movie is that the MC was put in a very dificult situation, he would either subject himself to whatever charity he would get from the family that didn't want him (and the abuses), or he would try to make it on his own (which he obviously could not), so it's a dillema where we probably don't have a right answer, and eventually we're left feeling powerless without the MC having really done anything wrong, it's a very troubling feeling.

Anyway I'm a huge film buff and this movie can hang with the greatest of all time, it's most definitely a masterpiece.

I understand it was same for me when I first watched it last year.....though to me it is more sad than depressing..... I will suggest you to look for the theories regarding this movie. A deep look on what the creators want to convey will certainly help you to cope with your depression. This movie is much more than just 2 unfortunate kids.

It's the greatest movie I've ever seen, anime or not, but it's an emotional gut punch unlike anything else.

I feel youuuuu. It left me feeling hollow for a couple of days, couldn't watch anything sad or related to children for a week. The movie did its job of really showing the horrors of war especially on children tho.

I can understand, I had a similar experience when I watched it. It's definitely one of the saddest anime or piece of media in general.

This along with Clannad After Story is one of the few anime that made me this sad.

Depressing and just plain sad. The film confronts difficult moments in history. Trying to move on with your life at such moments must be really difficult. I can't even imagine it.
