They kinda had to, can't do much for 12eps. But at this point they're just burning money at this point (IMO disclaimer for the triggered).

Well it can't get much worse because it went to shit literally right after the first beta fight, that was hardcore and ruthless and then we ended with... Exactly...

So nine months to improve and up the quality.

So this is the same situation as Symphogear 1st season having Symphogear 2nd season greenlit.

you can't make that assumption, symphogear is an anime original whereas MLA is based off a vn. Doubt quality would be better after that last ep of s1.

Well we can't assume all the people working on the anime will be the same every season. Even within the same studios, there are times when they change the director for a new season. Especially with covid still around, they may need to change the PIC to meet the schedule, delay in anime cost more compared to delay in VN, for example, they would still need to pay the penalty for schedule change if there's any delay.

Exactly how I feel, I think they have a good change of at least nailing the most important scenes, it wont be with the values the VN deserves, but from starters, this adaptation already deserved to have like at least 50 episodes to be fully developed, so if they can at least do decentlly what they are going to adapt, and are NOT skipping anything major from now on, I m all in.

As long as they don't do any weird or major deviation, i don't think there'll be much issue with season 2.
It'll have mainly major scenes throughout this part of the story after all.

Pretty much, as long they can do a decent job, they would have a decent pacing if it finishes after Sadogoshima Island.

Considering we already have that scene way before S1 come out, with Takeru fighting the BETA on Sadogoshima, I think it is safe to say they already had some stuff prepared for that battle then, which is why we are getting a S2 so soon.

Power of NFT i suppose. The keyframe card really help boost the chances of Season 2.
Lots of hardcore fan bought just to support the franchise, in and out of Japan.

Makes me feel that this may end up becoming a trend of anime moving forward.

For reference, they made about 150k USD with those cards based on the figures released the other day. A large percentage of that being profit as there is not much cost involved in making them. Some people are throwing around a 3.5 Million USD figure but that's just based on a misunderstanding of the numbers.

The first volume of the Blu Ray made anywhere between 240 to 270k USD in revenue (depending on if the limited or standard edition sold more) and the second volume should be somewhere in the same ballpark. Of course the profit ratio for these is lower.

Seeing how Blu Rays are not quite as relevant as they used to be when deciding which show was successful and which show was not, it does not look like a huge factor in deciding that a season 2 would happen, but it certainly does not hurt either. This could become a nice "free" revenue stream for some shows without a huge viewership but with a very dedicated fanbase that is willing to basically donate money. I see it as a positive development.

That's assuming if he knows Muv-Luv as a VN.
That aside, Muv-Luv was doomed to failed as an anime the moment they never animated Extra during the bishoujo game boom period in early 2000s.
Regardless of how the fans view Extra. Alternative is only around thanks to Extra/Unlimited.
Everyone was so focused on Alternative that they didn't consider Extra could easily slot in as a 12 episode anime and multiple OVAs for other routes.
If they actually did Extra prior, then at least this anime would have a basic groundwork alas it never happened.

And if by chance the Extra anime proved to be popular & successful enough. Age/Anchor could've created sequels for Extra/KimiNozo/KimiKisetsu that takes place in the same universe.

Yeah i'm sure you're able to do a completely perfect original story with a 4k quality anime at zero dollars.
What's with the i'm better than you comment?
So if people like something you don't like, they're automatically delusional, misinformed, psychopant now?
People aren't allowed to have their own opinion or preference because if they do they're all delusional, misinformed, psychopant because only your view matters.

I mean, to be fair to the point being made, that's exactly what a porn(ographic) game is. A game that contains porn, which is what h-scenes are, porn.
So insignificant to the overall content, that they were aptly removed without damaging anything the original had going for once they came to consoles and Steam. But we are talking about the original release, I assume, so yeah, essentially a porn game.

That's true in a sense but that's pretty reductive still, this VN contains literally 1 H scene per route, it's like judging an anime after seeing one episode, not representative at all.

Yeah, I'm on board towards that too. I'm just saying that in an overiew, it's pretty much true, as reductive as it may be (even because MLA didn't even have routes and just one h-scene that wasn't a short flashback to Unlimited).

Apparently you still have a long way to go in growing up if you consider critique of a flawed product to be something for the ''young and dumb''.

Adaptations that are poorly made deserve critique. Altho if you ask me they deserves something else much more:

..to be ignored and forgotten.

I wouldn't say it's a poorly done adaptation. Just that their decision to make only 1 part backfired.
Anime changing design isn't something new to me, many anime does that i won't waste my effort complaining about that too much.
But i still don't like the decision to skip Muv-Luv.
No matter how fans say it, Muv-Luv work well as a series because there's Extra > Unlimited > Alternative.
Sure many people went Alternative > Extra > Unlimited or just Alternative solely.
But in the early 2000s, it was still the bishoujo boom period, if it's just promoted as Alternative only, the VN may not have sold well.
That's why Extra was very important to the series, it help Muv-Luv gain the initial fanbase for Alternative.
Extra probably won't sell so well now on it's own but i feel like the skipping of Extra & Unlimited is really a bad decision.
Even a 2/3 OVA for each portion would be better than nothing.

Adaptations have to make changes for various reasons. For instance, here, budget. Muv luv to be faithful would require massive amount of episodes, at least 64 maybe even more. That is not feasible. So they have to change stuff. Big deal. I still played the VN, I know what happened. I just like to see some iconic scenes in anime.

I disagree. Many people bitch about extra boring lmfao fest but it was entertaining and it laid all the necessary groundwork. Alterantive without extra or especially without unlimited would suck major balls.

I agree on this. I went in with Extra > Unlimited & Alternative myself. I feel that individually the story wouldn't feel complete.

I hope by the end of this decade, we'll get a proper adaptation. Because while this may have been an improvement, ultimately this "Muv-Luv Alternative" adaptation, is a disappointment.
