This manga was very satisfying to read, for me it was a 9/10.

My heroine won, it didn't have an ending that the MC doesn't stay with anyone like the other works that have the same genre. But it was a shame that it was canceled out of nowhere.

But it's a good thing it wasn't a work with 200 chapters of pure winding.

So, thanks @NenaKitajima !!!

Damn this is unfortunate. I was catching up to this series after some months of leaving it on hold and when I got to chapter 40 came here to read the discussion and I was surprised to see this post about it ending. It made more sense knowing a lot of chapters are not translated.
I still have hopes for a translation or to improve my Japanese, so I won't read about the ending, but could you let me know if it was cancelled or it got a proper ending? Was it low on sales?

Is it worth the read?

I'm just a passerby looking for some stuff to read in Japanese lol

How was the Japanese of it btw? Relatively hard? Easy?

"my waifu won with axed ending" is honestly not convincing me to back to this series tbh.

Ending felt rushed, the way the mc confessed wasn't very natural to me... like it doesn't make sense that he'd choose Ranko at this point, there was not enough time for him to develop those feelings for her and not enough moments of Ranko trying to make mc fall for her for him to develop feelings that fast... when all this time he was deeply in love with yuriko... now if this manga had at least 50+ more chapters then it would, but it didn't, was axed and now the ending isn't really that satisfying even though I'm a Ranko shipper...

I don't think it was rushed. You guys are just too used to padding in romcoms. It reminds me of Ichigo 100% and domekano but shorter and not overstaying its welcome.

Other than what girl he chooses, and why, it is a fairly good ending. But since I rate on overall feel for manga, it dropped 2 scores for the ending as I was frustrating reading it.

I'm sure other disagree, but that's your opinion.

Just finished this. The obvious choice was made but the final chapter I didn't really care for. You get a confession and that's pretty much it.

I think the rating for this is a little low. Its an 8/10 to me. It did it's thing and ended in a reasonable amount of time without dragging on. The length felt right it's just that I wish the final chapter was an epilogue further past the confession.

I also felt the ending was rushed, but only because it was a timeskip ending written in one chapter - that's it. The conclusion itself was written in a very nice way, imho. I don't really get your argument with "there was not enough time for him to develop feelings". He literally had nearly a year of fake relationship and then 2 years out of Tokyo to get his thoughts/feelings straight. He was told by Maricchi and Shiono that Ranko is absolutely a possibility and he will need to choose, because he didn't realize his own feelings until very late into the series. Shiono also pointed out your mentioned "deep love" for Yuriko and brought a hypothesis to the table if it was "only" deep admiration that Tatara felt for her. So, the story makes sense as a whole, imho.

Sure it was convenient for the author, but honestly? She had some choices to make throughout the series. Her last one was to leave Japan and go international. She chose her job as an idol over the MC and she also knew what that may mean in the long-term. She was content with her decision to pursue her idol career. It started out as a goal because of a promise and then developed into a goal because she loved doing what she was doing.

So, besides convenience this was also a driving factor for the psychology of the characters and the story altogether. We shouldn't forget that this is a manga about high school teens. Love works in these ways, especially when you are this young.

But as you said, opinions differ and that's wonderful ;)
