It is a standalone, Magi in in the other hand is on another spectrum in comparison to this. If anything you will probably just realise how subpar this one is in comparison.

dony watch this you could watch magi but it isn’t finished so there’s still manga to read and orient has average animation the manga art is much better in my opinion

Shit both Magi and Orient kill it in my books. Tons of fun, yes Magi is tons better but that doesn't mean the other is bad.

I loved Magi (and Sinbad). Just dropped Orient. But to answer you, they are standalone. If you're interested, watch a few eps. I have a 3 episode fence. Nothing's wrong with checking out both.
