Yup, that's Shin and the squad taking on perhaps their biggest mission to date. No matter what the risk, they aren't going to give up against those damn Legions.

A ton of action this episode and honestly was this also had a lot of psychological effect. Frederica's feelings could also be felt this episode. What a way to go out before the 3 month break.

Amazing episode. We all know who came in clutch with the artillery fire nearby. Ah, this will make the next episode wait so painful for anime-only viewers. I know what’ll happen next cause I read the LN.
It was lovely seeing the battle go between Shin and Freddie’s perspective as well as kiri. The “what could have been” scenario in Freddie’s head really brought me tears. If only Kiri, Shin, Rei (all the nouzens) were still around to be together.

This episode met and surpassed my expectations. The clutch scene with the unidentified party was so well done, especially in terms of transitions and sound, and so was the psychological/emotional aspects near the end. That Frederica dream sequence in particular was a punch to the gut.

The cliffhanger at the end was cruel, but thankfully A-1 didn’t cockblocked us further with what happens next, since that could have been worse. That lycoris flower tease though made me feel... things.

Now to hibernate for the next 3 months in wait for the last 2 episodes, since nothing in the Winter card particularly interests me.

No words, holy shit. Absolutely speechless. One of the best episodes of this cour alongside episode 5. Also that cliffhanger is absolutely brutal (just like the cliffhanger in episode 5 too). 86 making sure it goes out with a bang before the final 2 episodes.

Now to painfully wait for March :(

All the buildups lead to this epic battle, totally worth it.

I was impressed by almost everything from this episode, one of the greatest ones imo.

A huge break until March, it's gonna be painful to wait.

Wow, couldn't ask for the best birthday gift ever. This episode was god damn emotional and the action sequence was beautifully directed. They really have to struck me with that evil cliff hanger. The three month break has officially started, what am I going to do now without my weekly dose of 86.

Although the Frederica-Kiriya stuff wasn't that emotional for me at all, rest of this episode was very good and looked pretty decent again with the action everywhere and ended on a pretty great cliffhanger for the final 2 episodes to deliver in March. When 86 is focused on its action and the production efforts are more than there, it can definitely deliver some more than positive results, and it did here. Sound design really has been the most consistent aspect of this season and while it can be too loud and poorly mixed with the music at times, it's still generally distinctive and really good.

Not the greatest episode of all time or a masterpiece by any means, but a fairly entertaining episode for the most part and did its job well. Not much to fault with A-1 here. Shame that the delay's a thing now for the next 3 months but the series will pick itself back up with the intensity in the next episode anyway. 2nd best episode of this cour for me, first being Ep 5. I'll take episodes like these that are filled with energy and stuff to get pumped up over compared to the lifeless ones that most of this cour had that didn't have interesting enough characterization or interactions going down there.

Frederica has forced herself onto the battlefield with Shin and the others, and there's no turning back against the Morpho and the Legion.

Shin and the 86-ers went leaps and bounds against Pale Rider, and Frederica is useful at this critical juncture, but all that Kiriya wanted to do is to face off against Shin, and rendering the others immobile is just the first step while leaving both Fido and Frederica on the side for their safety.

The battle between siblings...this is pretty much the highlight of the episode, and it delivered to the T. Compared to the battles he's fighting alone in the past, he's not alone now with the Frederacy on his side. Frederica's dream sequence of her knight, and even coming out physically to save Kiriya at the cost of her own psychology and life to give Shin the opportunity to strike at him was just sublime, had me on my breath.

That's one hell of a brutal cliffhanger...as we wait till mid-March for the finale.

Christmas gift from A-1 was this incredibly made episode.

Loved how the final battle was animated, Frederica saying goodbye to Kiriya was really well done.
Now that voice...
The next episode will be the most awaited for everyone who has read the LNs.

I suggest reading the light novels for anyone who doesn't wanna wait 3 months for the next episode.

Breaking into enemy territory was always gonna invite legion attention but damn that ambush of theirs was damm cunning. Anju trying to alleviate concern while the damage she actually took was shown to us was just like her. Kiri as ever has no shortage of surprises though. But the team opting to stay behind to buy Shinn the time he needed to slay Kiri really was brave. The long awaited fight with Kiri though was excellent and while showing well Shinn's skill also did well to remind him that he was not alone for he had friends and comrades that he can count upon. That scene where Frederica confronted Kiri within the shared space was pretty nice as was her confrontation with Kiri in the real. That scene where Kiri, Shinn and Rei were together in front of Frederica really was nice. In the end she was able to free her dear knight with everyone's help though it was a bitter victory. Excellent ep as always that featured a fine balance of action and lore and character expansion in the form of Kiri's past. Shame that we won't see the final two ep's until next year but if the animators ask for more time its the duty of the studio to grant them that time. We as the fans should understand this and not send them hate mail.

What an episode. Fucking masterpiece. The best episode I have ever scene in an anime probably. Even I have read this part in the light novel, my god I wasn't expecting that much.

Like the scene in the ending, Frederica's imagination, eyes filled with tears. My god this episode was so fucking great.

And a fucking cliffhanger. And the next ep is in March 2022, 3 months of waiting. Being an anime only is very hard these days.

I seriously cannot wait for 3 months..

For LN readers, is it worth reading from volume 1? or am I good enough if I start reading it from v3 ch9 like the above person mentioned..

The LN didn't really skipped that much important info right?

A princesses plea to her knight. Our company trying to press on still towards Kiriya as he tries to stop their advance. Leaving behind Anju and the others was tough to see. Raiden and Kurena not knowing their fate at this time is tough but Shin has to keep going to stop Kiriya. Shin going all out against Kiriya was so awesome! A grueling fight as Shin kept trying to get closer for a point blank shot. The heavy armor that Kiriya has makes any long range shots so Shin has to keep dodging and advancing. Shin got some artillery support from some unknown person/place, wonder whom that could've been. Frederica was almost left behind to keep her out of the line of fire but her persistence got her close anyways. Shouting out to Kiriya to give Shin some more time. She knew he would acknowledge her long enough to let Shin have his last shot count. A very emotional scene with Frederica pleasing to Kiriya while telling Shin where to shoot. Seeing the vision of Kiriya speaking to Shin under normal circumstances was heartbreaking, A thought of how they might've interacted.

Fantastic episode. We got to see some breathtaking action scenes in this episode also pretty emotional moments between Kiri and Frederica along with Shin.

Frederica's vision of all of them together was pretty sad .

The cliffhanger was pretty intense too.So i will have to wait March for the next episode,it is doubtful i will see any new anime in winter so goodbye till then.

Welp, there's no way I'm waiting until March, time to start reading the novel. I was planning to pick up from Vol 4. after the season ended anyway, but now I'll start from Vol 3. where it left off.

I'm not sure I'll even mind that much if there's no next season, seeing this treatment from the publisher...oh well, we'll see.

I absolutely hate flashbacks, cutaways, and dream sequences on a normal day. They're so overused.

And when they happen in the middle of an action scene? UGH!

Never really connected with the Princess and Knight schtick (character arc?), so felt nothing when they showed them all in a palace before the end. Found myself skipping all those scenes, which most likely added nothing to the episode (IMHO).

Meh.

Those criticisms aside, the action was spectacular.

Was that Lena in the static of Shin's earpiece? Was she the one who assisted Shin with aerial firepower?

Are the 86 crew all dead?

These questions and more will be answered ... in a couple of MONTHS.

Pretty fire episode, so did Lena turn up somehow? Shin was hearing voices...unless it was just the rest of his gang making it in the last minute, Raiden clearly made it there at least.
