Gunbuster Audio Track

Just finished this series, thoroughly enjoyed it.
I saw a post somewhere that said that the audio track for the series was replaced on newer releases.
Is this true, or is it simply a remaster? How can I tell what version I watched?

the opening song seems to be one i remembered from long ago. funny, the gunbuster theme is one of the first bits of true music I added to my collection waay back in about 1993 or so. it was in .snd format which i think was an apple mac format.
