Nowadays when ever I see voice a actors/actress that were dominate in the field back in the day such as Miyano Mamoru ,Takahashi Rie and specially Matsuoka Yoshitsugu I instantly drop the show I just can't keep watching it no matter what , Now with this show having Hanazawa Kana on the main cast as the character Zacrettu I feel really skeptical towards it , I mean listening to their voices for years really bored me out of them and killed the immersion I've ever had with any of their roles , Do you guys also feel like this sometimes or am I getting too old for anime lol ?

There are 7 billion people around. You just can't be the only one. Maybe you really are old.
Try um... dub... maybe? *braces for impact* xD

I don't think I'll ever skip a show because of voice-actors. That would be a shame.

I mean, that’s your thing I guess.. honestly I appreciate some of the ranges these VAs have and that’s probably why I don’t get bored with them… even still, an actor/voice has never caused my to instantly drop anything, they are part of a bigger picture that is being presented.

nah... i can see why it would be a little distracting, but that's all it is. maybe try watching it when the dub comes out. that should fix the problem.

I don't even know that much, let alone care about voice actor, except that guy that voiced Overhaul, Nanami. Why do voice actors even count as a consideration when watching anime? This doesn't make any sense. Also, voice actors usually sounded very different in each show.

This question makes my brain hurt...
So I've actively watched anime for what 4 years now? And it's nothing compared to you I know.
But it still blows me away how wide some characters voices voiced by the same VA can differ from each other, and this applies mostly for the elite in voice acting(of course you are always going to have those super recognizable voices).
For example this guy takahiro sakurai, I just found out yesterday that he voiced Ayame in Fruits Basket, I was actually impressed cause rn im watching him voice a character with polar opposite personality (shitan from pirate princess). Another crazy example is miyano mamorou(this guys vocal range is just nuts).
My point here is, that I might recognize the VA's voice from time to time; and I get you its obviously going to worsen my experience a little if i associate an actor with a specific character with a specific personality but i really believe that the better the VA the harder it is to do this.
I don't know if I'm explaining myself but anyway

I guess I'm in a middle point in this. For me, hearing the same voices over and over does bore me, and somehow pulls me out of the inmersive experience. Hana Kana might be the main example of this. At this point, she is almost like the Nicholas Cage of the VA world. But, on the other hand, if I'm looking for a drama or romantic anime, voice acting can change the way you experience a show. Especially if you have a trained ear and handle some japanese. If in a dramatic show I see there is someone like Takahiro Sakurai (Reigen in Mob, Oshino in Monogatari series, Majime in Fune wo Amu, etc), for me, it IS a key factor to decide watching it.

And, of course, if we consider meritocracy as a real thing, then those va with many roles behind them MAY actually be the best ones. That certainly is something to consider

Usually don't care that much about VAs - as long as they fit the role/charater (and it's personality). The one from Mahouka - that did the sister there - has a pretty annoying voice though.

I like Hanazawa Kana. Not recognizing that many VAs.

For Ootsuka, Houchuu though ... it is almost a must to watch shows with him. Always love to her him - since watching Ajin back then where he voiced Satou.

Dropping the show because of hearing too much of the same seyuu wtf... Even the VA of Kiriito is one of the most used, but I still don't get bored because is versatil as hell, in Mob Psycho you almost miss him.

The rest of the famous are like that, they can fit many roles so I don't really get burned out

TBH, I watch anime for the anime.

I barely cares about any real life aspects. That including the VA. I don't know any info or even their names in any anime I watch since I only watch for the anime and if the voice fits the character or not.

Tho I do have familiarity with some names since ppls talks about VA in anime forum, lol.

___ ___ ___

However tho, the only problem I would have if ever, is "dubs". I prefer to watch anime with Japanese Audio over other language audio.

I have no idea you can fell that with VAs that are not that common to see anymore, but i understand more or less when it's a VA doing many works in a row...example Aoi Yuuki.

She did a bunch of female isekai characters in a row. I'm even thinking that has some type of monopoly on this thing XD. When i heard Azusa (Slime Taoshite 300-nen, Shiranai Uchi ni Level Max ni Nattemashita) i did bothered me a little bit initially (even though she is a great VA), but i would never skip a series because of this.

Also...dude you think you are old being only 23? I'm 37 years old and i have been watching anime since i was 7 (although at the time there was not internet so i could only watch animes on TV when there were any) and i'm still doing it just fine. Although i have to admit that i have less patience to watch certain shonen animes.

These voice actors do have some sort of monopoly to specific roles Harem anime for Matsuoka , Romance anime for Hanazwa Kana its rare to find anime without them till recent few years were they stopped taking every single role available , Well I do admit they're indeed good at their roles and popular with them and I did enjoy them at some point but their acting stopped working on me since the last few years and I can tolerate their voices at best but not enjoy them anymore

The age part , Yeah if anime had a similar ageing system to dogs and cats years I think I'm old enough to be a retired WWII veteran XD at this point I probably seen enough anime to reach the peak of seeing every anime as being boring and cliche and not get hyped about anything anymore ... most sadly though , Maybe for you it isn't yet but for me its getting more tedious and boring as the seasons pass by

after reading all this and your statements? wow.

you've got a decade+ under your belt? i'm damn impressed! your profile says you were born in 1998, so you got started in anime when you were 10 years old in 2008? in 1986 i was 10... if i'd found anime back then it would have been... Castle In the Sky, the original Dragonball, Fist of the North Star, Maison Ikkoku (yes one of Rumiko Takahashi's earliest anime), and Guyver: Out of Control... amongst other titles. be happy you were born after i was! have you SEEN how peculiar the anime of the 80's looks compared to today's shows?

i've noticed something, so let an ol fart school you a smidge. once an otaku hits their first decade... something strange happens. no, hairs don't start growing in funny places and your voice changes... your tastes change!

ok, comparison time. when you were 10, what was your favorite food? if somebody handed it to you for one meal, 7 days a week, and said 'here free ____ enjoy!' what would you have wanted? mac n cheese? cereal? a hot-dog, hamburger? your mom's best dish she ever cooked for you?

you're 23 now. would you eat the exact same thing for one meal, 7 days a week that you wanted when you were 10? probably not. 13 years have passed, so your tastes have changed. you don't exactly prefer what you loved 'back in the day'.

there was a guy commenting here who's 37 and been watching anime since he was 7... well i'm 45 and i've been watching anime since 1990 when i was 14 years old. my first anime was VHS Tape 1 of Harmony Gold's ROBOTECH English dub. so i've been watching anime for nigh on 31 years...

let me tell you something, VOICE ACTORS come and go very VERY slowly over the years in Japan. there's folks who've worked in the industry since the 1980's. you hearing somebody familiar in an anime is QUITE normal!

take a look at the expanded amount of anime aired on JTV in the past 10 years+. it used to be Friday Saturday and Sunday nights were 'anime nights/days' in Japan. most shows aired on those three days. now? it's seven. days. a week. there's at least one anime on TV. most days, there's 3-5... and not just 'lil kiddy shows' to make the toddlers and elementary school kids happy.

in the American dub market? heck, i still remember when Mr. Sabat was running his OKRATRON 5000 studio in Texas and was the dude who worked on just about every single Funimation English dub out there. if he wasn't voicing it in some role, even a supporting one, he was producing it, ADR Directing it, or a sound technician/editor/part-time consultant. the American anime VAs are only in the past TEN-FIFTEEN YEARS expanding outside of say... 50-75 regularly used talents. heck, Johnny Yong Bosch ... is only SIX MONTHS OLDER THAN ME!

my best advice to you is two-fold. take a break. a lonnnnnng break from 'modern anime' and go backwards to the 80's-2000's. watch the old school stuff, get an appreciation for the genre outside your 'era'. if that first part doesn't sound attractive to you? try this second part.

quit. anime. entirely. for one year. cold turkey. cut yourself off. take a break. read some books. play some video games. get a new general-purpose hobby. take up table-tennis, or golf, or jogging, or jigsaw puzzles... or SOMETHING! don't think about anime, don't read about anime, don't watch anime YouTuber news-bytes, leave anime entirely alone for a year.

then, once that year's over... come back and look over the year in anime you missed. if you don't care about this hobby anymore, you're cured! the otaku bug that bit you just ran its course and you're no longer infected. live life as a normie and do normie things. but if you still like it, i bet you won't worry so much about your obsessive problem with various VAs.

g'luck out there!

just an ol school American otaku enjoyin the life. don't sass me kiddies, i've been otaku probably since before you were born. leave me in peace and i won't bother you either.

I'm 30, this year turning 31. So how old can you possibly be. Also yeah I do feel like some voices are overlapping in my head, vut not enough to drop an anime over it. Stop nitpicking and focus on the story and not the voice acting.
