THIS IS AN ANIME ONLY DISCUSSION POST. DO NOT DISCUSS THE MANGA BEYOND THIS EPISODE.
----------------------------------------
This anime is actually taking itself more seriously than I had originally expected.

Teruto really seems like a competitive person, going after skilled players like from this episode. The battle itself had a decent momentum with both players going back and forth. Teruto himself seems like the type of guy that isn't afraid of challenging anyone.

The trio of Teruto, Sakura and Hiyori have reached Neo Tokyo, and Sakura's chips have gone missing, so that's the next quest. But being surrounded by fans, he finds some trouble until another challenger (Enjo Naomitsu) managed to save him out of harm.

Sakura asking Ishinome for help on who may be the actual culprit, and it's the person whom Teruto just made an acquaintance with (and one that doesn't want to battle). Lo and behold, raise the challenge and let the Build-Divide battle play out as usual. Teruto's gamble Territory vs. Enjo's utilitarian Territory, this is more of a Duel Masters feeling of cold-blooded, no mercy.

This is way more serious than any other TCG anime, really brings me back to those childhood days.

I wasn't into the episode for most of it, but then at the end they dropped "Outside Neo Kyoto, there's nothing at all!" and I'm fucking all-in now. That's a great plot thread.

Sakura's been hella sus from the start and her tactics in forcing Enjo into a battle with Teruto truly reconfirms that. You know shit's about to go down when Teruto masks up though! On another note, we now have a (possibly yandere) white-haired loli and I am here for it! 😅

Also, I now need a Teruto plushie - so cute!

It'll always bother me that Build Divide sounds similar to Build Diver.

Anyway, Lionel is such a furry monster.

This anime is sometimes very boring although it has many defects but even the fights animate a little.

The world building is pretty substantial so far given that MC is suppose to have no recollection of anything going on. If they just laid it all out as this is who this is or this is why this exists. Then it would take away part of the mystery they're throwing in.

But finding out this seems to be pocketed or closed city it does make sense why most people expect him to just know what's going on so much.

I definitely feel with that twist and the ending scene it makes it feel that much more Dystopian. Maybe even similar in it's themes of the populous being controlled by this game and the King parallels a bit to series like The Matrix or Blade Runner in execution.

Is anyone else getting like 'Evil Philza' vibes off this Ishinome guy, or is that just me?

Sakura is so sus and honestly seems like such a horrid person, I don't like her one bit. she just looks as if shes using teruto for her own gain and is a manipulative bitch, saying shes doesn't know why he's pissed at MC when she so does. I hope that Teruto leaves her behind because shes a horrible person and weak, while he can take down the king without her manipulative ass I the background dragging him down

Talk about a twist. The story is getting more interesting and I like how they're committed to the worldbuilding and not just using it as a gimmick or for show. Enjou is a pretty cool character; I imagined he would be more of a rival type but seems he will be a bro-type which I'm cool with. The duel itself was fun. I think they properly showed off the appeal of Lionel and my favorite part had to have been Teruto using Build Divide's equivalent of Monster Reborn to resurrect Lionel under his control. The scene of the protagonist using the opponent's Ace monster albeit corrupted to finish off the opponent is just too damn cool.

Sakura is like a villainess. Instead of just telling him that those people stole her cards and asking if he'd give them back, she threatened not only him but his family as well. She doesn't even tell Teruto what she did and then pretends she doesn't know what he's talking about at the end. It seems like dude figured out that Teruto didn't know. Isn't Crater the guy they want to defeat aka the King? I don't trust her one bit.

I was ready to drop this, but now I wanna know what happened to the rest of the world. And what's up with the crazy little girl with the Teruto doll?

Everyone's talking about the Neo Kyoto twist and Sakura, but I'm more impressed with the world's culture. Instead of everyone grumbling about the system in place and only leaving it to to the main characters to rebel, we actually see groups formed specifically to protest and complain about things.

Also, I like how casually Hiyori mentions that a school of evil science-wizards kidnaps poor people to experiment on. They just gloss right over that and nobody bats an eye.

Hmm... Nothing outside Neo Kyoto.

I take it this is caused by some sort of super natural "card battle" scenario (similar to Shadowverse anime, where the world is just a simulation of an ancient card power)

Meaning the whole world they know of is either: isn't real a simulation, or real but everything else got eaten by some sort of super evil card power and the rich/ powerful dominates lower classes with their high techs.

___ ___ ___

On other note... the MC and party seems to be part villain just as the king's party that will do anything to get what they want.

The girl MC literally threatened to harm the orange hair guy's family... while the actual MC doesn't give a fuck about anything regardless if they're right or wrong.

(Just following my path, oh a guy trying to save someone but have chips, kills the guy and takes the chip, following my path)

___ ___ ___

Tho I am still interested in knowing about MC's amnesia and it looks like he's apparently related to the king, seeing that white hair loli holding a MC plushy... meaning they know each other previously.

I suspect the MC already fought once and lost then got kicked out and some how forgets about stuff for quite a while since it sounds like he's been living in that tent for quite some time, not to mention MC works somewhere to have money to buy bread. (which we never seen him go work anywhere... unless he's been stealing the food)

I enjoy this anime's card system. It was well thought. It might be worth playing if game featuring it ever comes out

Great episode, now that is what a battle should be like! Interesting characters battling each other for their dreams and etc.

The ending song makes sense now after watching this episode.

The cliffhanger at the end reveals some kind of hints on Teruto's origin and it also revealed, probably a Yandere, that they have some connections to Teruto. OwO
It's not that I dislike this genre but... to add unnecessary fan services to/in/for heroines
and ultimately destroys her character and personality; their purity tarnished because of it,
is the only thing I hope to not happen to them. For that sole purity is my fan service.

That Enjou guy wasn't bad and it was a pretty good fight, of course Teruto won and has 8 coins now, but seriously Sakura is very suspicious with what she's doing behind Teruto's back and manipulating/threatening people, seems like there is only Neo Tokyo in this world... Also that end is weird, I wonder how they are related to Teruto

Interesting plottwist with there being nothing outside the city. I also like how Teruto just wants some bread and battle, not caring about politics and stuff.
