Ah yes, we should never forget how awesome Tao Jun she is. Tbh, she was kinda overlooked at times but this episode gave her some well deserved screen time.

Felt more like a buildup episode though. Yoh is at a point in his life where every decisions he makes matters.

The new opening is pretty fire.

Not a bad ep overall, so Yoh will withdraw from the tournament to save Ren. That ought to fuck up many things. lol

Am I the only one who's kinda aprehensive about this in the new OP:

Like... They won't give this anime the PRINCESS HAO alternative setting/ending, right? RIGHT???

The new OP by Nana Mizuki is pretty good! Though Kinami Kuribayashi's 1st OP is really hard to dethrone. The new 3rd ED by saji is, I'd say the best of the EDs so far.

Ren, Horohoro and Chocolove getting thrashed by remnants from both Hao and the Patch Tribe, and it's clear that they value numbers as seen by Hao's enormous Shaman power. But to Yoh, Ren is still the same Tao Ren that's done from his past grievances, and telling that to Nickrome whom still harbours anger, it's a complicated affair.

To save Ren, Yoh asks Manta to request the X-Law's Iron Maiden Jeanne's help to revive him, while the other groups spar outside of the arena. Using Jun's Kung Fu Pyron Oversoul against Kanna's Knight Ashcroft Oversoul to see his growth, and a cheat method of integrating missile into one of his hands, it's a secret weapon of a modified Oversoul for a marital artist. Romantic cheats yoh...

The Shaman Fight at this point might as well be Yoh's Asakura faction and the X-Laws vs. the 1.25 mil Furyoku Hao and his other respondents, which with every fight, gets even worse. The condition that to revive Ren, Yoh must withdraw indefinitely, friends a.k.a the power of friendship are more important than losing people, which didn't sit well with Horohoro and Chocolove for a split. Even Marco derides Yoh to the point of no return.

Things are definitely getting more interesting now that we're in the 2nd half of the entire adaptation, well past the manga's midway point.

The only decency from this episode is the new OP, sung by Nana Mizuki the legend herself.

Otherwise, Shaman King "Brotherhood" has been nothing but underwhelming mediocrity at best.

God, that new ED hit me hard.

The new OP is a banger as well

Cannot stress enough how good this adaptation has been especially in the past few episodes. Like yeah, it was rushed at points, but seeing all the manga exclusive stuff animated is such a good feeling

Talk about an episode. The new opening was nice. The ending was fire good. Anyways. Yoh comes in on time to save Horohoro and Chocolove. Though Ren is beyond saving. So asking the Iron Maiden for help. That aside. Reminder that a Shaman's Furyoku increases each time of near death experience which I can't believe I forgot. Not only that the Iron Maiden and her crew found out about Yoh being the brother to Hao. The only terms they come is that he withdraws from the Shaman fight. Which is really pathetic honestly because he is not a bad guy. But whatever. That aside the scene with Pyron was pretty cool. Though the fight is not even over yet. I guess not all of Hao's lackey's are not pathetic as I thought they were.

Always surprises me how much everyday profoundness there is in Shaman King, and this episode absolutely shined with that too. The whole thing about numbers and one's hopes for potential, the value and meaning of one's dreams vs a friend's life - what friendship itself means. Sentimental claptrap in a way, but manga/anime often builds with such basic building blocks, and not always in a successful manner. Here though... I think it worked beauitfully.

And I'm still biased af, but THIS new ending, after THIS episode? Come the fudge on, just make them kiss already, why don't you. Heh.

That was a great episode! New OP and ED was great and I especially liked the ED. Chocolove and Horohoro really needs to get stronger too, they got left in the dust by the others and knowing their furyoku numbers did not help boost their confidence.

Anna is fucking badass as always. Also good to see Jun in action again and her blossoming relationship with Pyron who already had a wife and kid when he was alive lmao. The machine gun arms was pretty funny and cool.

Hao reincarnated and reincarnated for many years to get stronger, but Jeanne out here torturing herself almost 24/7 to get stronger. She's fucking hardcore, I can respect it. It's really interesting where things are going with Yoh dropping out of the Shaman Fight. Looking forward to the next episode.

The story diverges 100% from old anime at this point, so making those comparisons will lead you nowhere, tbh. Just sayin.

With 52 it would be intuitive to change OP and ED an episode ago. It's obvious they've waited just to make this episode a debut for this ED. That way it beautifully serves as a prologue to the arc that will start the next episode (I assume? Though the title seems to be implying otherwise).

"Mata mune no oku de kawashita yakusoku ga" - I see what you did there, lyric writer-san, and I love it! It's finally time for the best guy to enter the stage, I'm so excited! I wonder what VA will play him. It's amazing how this ED celebrates the scenes in the manga that were clearly a "Ginga Tetsudou no Yoru" reference, making this ED basically a reference too in the process. I guess the shining birds are mainly supposed to represents souls joining Great Spirit, but at the same time it feels like it might be a reference to the Swan Station.

Not sure if the characters are getting nerfed or the enemy is constantly getting buffed. The fact Ice dude and the animal dude got bodied so easily is concerning. It feel like people forget how to fight when they're not being focused on story wise.

Felt like a filler episode, with the most interesting thing being the car conversation.

The "don't be limited by what others claim to be your potential" (i.e. the numbers) is nice and all, but knowing your limits is also important. Otherwise you can ganbare all you want without getting anywhere.

If this anime had any guts, they'd kill off Tao Ren for good. So far, only disposable characters have died and it's clear that the main cast have plot armor (at least until the end, I assume). And, like someone else said, Yoh's wishy-washy attitude with everything going on around makes him seem too detached. Someone will be worrying and Yoh will throw a "daijobu" and they'll suddenly be fine. Not to mention the "I won't forgive him for doing X thing"...who cares about Yoh's forgiveness? What thick-skinned person will care about what a random person thinks of them? Never understood this.

I'm watching out of inertia at this point but hope it'll get interesting soon. The Mikihisa/Tao Ren episode was decent but so far I can count the memorable moments on the fingers on one hand and still have spares.

The oversoul is a construct of mind. The oversoul is as strong as much you are focused, as much as much mana you put into it, as strong as your spirit is, and as strong as your medium is.

In order of importance.

These Hao's minions are around 3 - 4 k in mana. They also know how to read the flow of mana giving them superhuman reflexes, abd due to chousenjiraketsu all of their spirits are evolved regardless of what they are.

A weaker oversoul can't beat a stronger oversoul. The only way to defeat an opponent you are weaker (oversoul vs oversoul) than is to make them lose their focus ( like Faust vs Yoh, Yoh vs Ren, Ren vs En ).

So now we have Horohoro (1975) and Chocolove (2100) who just witnessed their friend die in front of their eyes, they are angry, desperate, scared. And then also learn that their mana level is so small they wouldn't stand a chance even IF they used 100% of their potential adding completely giving up to the list.
This fight was effectively 4000 vs 100 or something. And again this does not even take into account the physical difference about the boys not being able to land a solid hit on someone trained to feel the flow of mana, AND ignores the fact Peyote's giant wooden mech - not an oversoul.

This fight was impossible for Horohoro and Chocolove to win

Makes a lot of sense. It just got annoying that the character felt like they were getting nerfed for plot sake but your explanation helps a lot to understand it story wise.

Tao Jun modded Pyron lmao
Yoh, being Hao's twin stuns Hao's followers whenever he enters the scene.
Not even Faust can heal Tao Ren. Yoh thus places his hopes of the enemy of their enemy of the X-Laws.
We learn Hao increased his Mana to ridiculous levels by going through the death-rebirth cycle. For similar reasons, Iron Maiden Jeanne has high mana through experiencing near-death state through daily torture.
With Tao Ren's body dead, once he is revived by the X-Laws, the experience will also raise his mana significantly.
Kick one of the people with the potential to defeat Hao out of the tournament? You're digging your own grave.

WTH, new opening, now?
i mean, it's make sense since it's past over episode 26, but this opening told so much. not only the power-ups . . .

about the episode. i felt that they slowed the pace down a lot only to get this ending to the cliffhanger.
and i'm not even gonna talk about the lousy animation and art. seriously, this episode was made so bad.
the only thing good here is the story.

yoh gonna quit the tournament? seriously? why i can't just see it happens?
and why it's no known-all that yoh is hao's brother?
