This version of Holmes slightly reminds me of Kogoro Mori xD

I really like the set up for this part and a lot of stuff was already going on. Promising start.

That was a fun first episode, definitely looks and feels better than the special burying those little worries away (even though I know that episode was just a special). I'm hoping this season's as good at least as Part V since V was my favorite one so far from this franchise and I want to see it keep getting better and better.

If Lupin's green jacket for this series, guessing things are gonna get quite dark with the story for this series?

The moment the opening song kicked in, I was instantly back in memory lane. Its just such a cool and memorable song

Also I am probably the only person who really laughed out loud when the CGI police car was flying through the air because it bumped against the other CGI police car? Thats was the most hilarious thing I have seen all day!

This was honestly as perfect of a start for this series that I could have hoped for. The OP and ED are both phenomenal, though not as good as Part 5. The OP is the usual theme, but the zany atmosphere and story structure in the last one was superior to this one, which was more visually dynamic but didn't offer much more than that. The ED Milk Tea, starring Akari Dritschler, had a weirdly summer-time beach-like groove. The song was nice and it had clever art animation, but it still falls short of the ED of part 5.

Sherlock is already a great addition to the story and we have another great seasonal character, Lily, who I guess is the stand in for a Watson character. They both have some history with Lupin, so it will be interesting to see what happened ten years ago when Lupin was last in London.

This episode played with our expectations, making us think that the thief was Lupin, when it wasn't. It was Albert from the previous season (watch part 5!). However, I knew the lady who came to the Scotland Yard was Fujiko right away. The story already is extremely compelling, and it holds a lot of potential. I would still like to see Conan come into the fray somehow. That would be fun.

The action scenes were great. Goemon slicing and dicing a tank had me in disbelief for a second, but it's Lupin. I know the series too well already to get distracted by stuff like that.

All in all, it was a fantastic premiere, and can easily shape up to be one of the best Lupin entries, even on par with parts 4 and 5.

Didn't quite feel as exciting or memorable as Part 4 or 5's first episode, especially part 4's, and some of the production values were a little on the shoddier side.
That being said, I still had good fun, the OP and ED are great, and the end of the episode left me wanting more.

I love the fact that Zenigata doesn't even hesitate over the disguises anymore lol

It's off to a great start. The dynamic between Holmes and Lily is neat so far and I'm interested to see how Lupin was involved to make them act as they did upon seeing him.

I was also glad to see Albert back and hope this episode isn't his only appearance. He was cool in part 5.

I'm just glad we got a Part 6 so soon, I'm looking forward to seeing where this goes.

No, we aren't. Obviously Lupin knows them somehow, so most likely there will be some flashbacks and revelations to the past to where Lupin met Sherlock. They might have even have faced off. In the upcoming soundtrack for Lupin part 6, there is a track called Lupin vs Holmes and another track called Lupin vs Holmes Part 2. So perhaps the first track was in the past and the second track will be in the present. Alternatively, they might face off twice in the present. But either way, he met Sherlock, and Lily by association, off screen way before this season started.

Certainly not one of the better first episode of the franchise or this was vastly very different styled opening episode than others. Like Jigen and Goemon didn't get any dialogues which is strange to say the least and surprisingly lot of cgi went on or I just really used to watching the awesome production value that was in the previous seasons (pretty sure they had the similar budget and make up by the excellent shot compositions).
On positive note, I already got invested into the new characters and the mystery elements introduced so far and captured the new setting pretty well.

Didn't feel very Lupin, but still a solid ep. CG cars were a little rough though, they felt like they didnt quite take up as much space in the world as they should have.

There's no better way to celebrate my birthday weekend than an episode of Lupin III. Honestly, after watching the Lupin III: The First movie I've been craving for another Lupin III series. It seems like the theme for this series is the clash between Lupin III and modern day Sherlock Holmes in London along with the shadow organization "Raven". We see Lupin wearing the Green jacket from Part 1, which might indicate a dive into Lupin's dark past. The one and only Yuji Ohno and the Lupinitic Six doing the theme for Lupin III for the OP and we get another ED dedicated to Fujiko. As usual old man Zenigata is on his never ending quest to capture Lupin. I'm curious to see how Lilly plays into all this as Sherlock Holmes is the only one taking care of her.

Looks like this is gonna be another linear narrative going on like with Part IV and V, which is good, tbh, even if the Lupin franchise's usual go-to was one-off episodic heists throughout its history of existence.

My sole big nitpick is with the depiction of the car chases. It's kinda sad that it seems like this season will be notably budget-tight, as the CGI cars just looked too weird. Hell there was one point where one of them crashed and the other behind it flipped over it in weird janky fashion.

Otherwise, a fun way to start and set up things for more chaos to come.

I agree.Part 4 was really bad in my opinion so I hope it won'tbe that boring as that season

Maybe it's just cos I've done a red jacket rewatch recently but the pacing/scoring had red jacket all over it. With some blue jacket for the sake of continuity and modernization. I am completely sick of Lupin 89 at this point but clearly TMS is not so I'm learning to ignore it lol. The CG Fiat was kinda jarring but also kinda just fits in with the usual Lupin car ridiculous shenanigans. And apparently Lupin is not like Gamera and friend to all children. We'll see what the backstory is behind that I guess. And the Fujiko ending is so cute!

Lily is definitely Dr. Watson's Daughter. I'm glad I'm not the only one that figured that out. I think the APC destruction scene was the anime's way of making up for the CGI. Which I just kind of accept now. Tho I will never watch the CGI Lupin movie. That was a bridge too far.

I grew up reading Sherlock Holmes as a boy and I watched Lupin parts 2 and 3 as a teen. So this season is like my childhood colliding! I always wanted to be like Lupin and Holmes, minus the cigarette smoking, being an alcoholic, and addiction to cocaine. You know these two guys vices. I guess these two are why I always found myself between both sides of the law. And don't have much respect for cops.

Part V was my fav season of all the Lupin I ever watched. I didn't get why so many others preferred Part IV, but there is enough great Lupin content for everyone. It doesn't seem like they are going to face the present, the way Part V did, but all I want is a great time. I think this season has what it takes, based off this episode. I just wish all these new anime fans would give Lupin a chance so it can get its due for the new generation. All these great stories over the past two season's and most fans won't even give it a watch.

To all my fellow Lupin fan's, lets strap in for a wild ride.

Really good first episode for this season. Production-wise, last 2 seasons had it better, especially with the car chases since I feel like it had less CG in them but it's still solid overall

Not in universe.
If we go with the Maurice Leblanc canon the name of the detective even should be Herlock Sholmes...

Even though I wanted a new coloured jacket, I will absolutely not miss the blue one. Just never liked that design. Thought it was a good episode and start. Not sure how I feel about another linear Lupin series but I guess it's just what it is now.

Also the CGI cars are ugly as hell but stuff like that is just a product of modern anime I guess.

Solid first episode. Featured some nice action and I'm intrigued about the enemy and plot.

Not a fan of it being set in England as I feel that's a downgrade from France and Italy visually, but it is what is... Also, I don't like how this episode looked artistically compared to the looks of the two previous seasons. I feel like they were prettier and more impressive. The Goemon vs Tank and Motorcycle explosion scene were very nice looking though. And yeah, the CG cars were whack.

Anyway, glad a new season is here.

Pretty much this. I like the character designs though, and the plot seems pretty interesting. The introduction of Sherlock Holmes in theory should turn this more cerebral which would be a nice twist from the last season's sentimental focus...but its only the first episode so not getting my hopes up just yet. If the solution to the mystery is simple I really hope it won't drag across the entire season as that'd be kind of pointless. Part 5's arc based episodes was a really great way to frame their stories while semi linking them together.

Also I heard Mamoru Oshii will be writing an episode which would be a full circle career move considering he initially wanted to make the pink jacket feature film into something way more trippy and surreal but was rejected, a large portion of his ideas would later be used for Angel's Egg. I really can't wait to see an Oshii Lupin episode 💪🏾

I totally agree. Albert was such an interesting character in Part 5. Watching the two of them as thieves in training was so much fun. I wonder if his shared history with Lupin will come into play with The Raven.

So many great scenes in Episode 1 - I absolutely loved it when the Fiat flipped over clumsily after popping the wheelie. Lol

not feeling the 2021 lupin theme, something about it feels off for me. for me, part 4's theme still reigns supreme. the ending song is super nice though, another dope ending! sherlock holmes and lupin, gonna be an interesting duel. this episode felt kinda slow, but does set up the mystique about the raven

I was wondering that myself. I've seen all the series and trying to figure out when they met. From what you said, its something that will be seen in flashbacks. There wasn't a past episode that aired that we've seen.

I've learned from my many years of anime (and esp. Lupin) things aren't as they seem. We see Lupin standing over Watson's body but I'm betting it was to shoot back at whoever killed him. Lily just saw the end.
Which one do you want? An Addiction or A Good Life?
A) Addiction - a progressive narrowing of the things that bring you pleasure.
B) A Good Life - a progressive expansion of the things that bring you pleasure and includes pleasure through motivation and hard work.
