Did anyone else notice the redub? They changed up quite a few lines and I'm a bit unhappy with the delivery during emotional scenes, though I would not consider it to be too major in comparison to the NGE redub.

Was it added in one of the Blu-Ray releases or was it particularly made for the Amazon Prime release? If the latter case is true, why do they always feel the need to redub their stuff for streaming services?

I think it's an Amazon redub and the BluRay has a whole different one but I'm probably wrong. I have mixed feelings on the Amazon dub, some voice actors sound great like for Asuka and Kaji, a lot of side characters sound kinda bad, and Shinji sounds a bit too old imo

As far as I’m aware this was made specifically for Amazon. If I had to guess why they did a redub I’d say there was probably some issues getting the rights to use funimations dub so they chose to redo it which also could explain the differences in translation. I agree with you though that there’s scenes where the performances feel weaker in this one.

Ah damn, thanks, I guess I feared as much... and true, Shinji does sound way more grown up than before, but I think the delivery of the lines is still fairly good. The alteration of the lines is what makes it sound weird to me, but that might just be bias.

That explanation would make a lot of sense, thanks for the educated guess. I'm just glad that the dub isn't a huge deal breaker.

I'm still glad they have a contract at all and released it streamlined for the first time, premiering eva 4 to the west. It boosts their anime catalog a lot. F for the original voice cast

To be fair, Spike Spencer *is* almost 53 years old now.

oh damn, that explains it then. I thought he was only around 40. At least his line delivery is still good
