Why did Kaworu do a 180?

Kaworu ,throughout the movie,says they have to get the spears.But as soon as the get inside the Terminal Dogma,and he sees the corpse(Adam or Lilith,I'm still not sure),he says they shouldn't take the spears.Can someone explain?

Because they were meant to be 2 different spears but there was only two of the same, so Kaworu knew it was a trap

For what I understood...Kaworu realised that Gendo wants them to take out the spear...so it was a trap.
