The Moon God is actually supposed to give him his all his powers after he was betrayed by the Goddess and lose consciousness for centuries as a toll for entering that world. It should be thanks to this power that he is landed safely on the ground. At least thats what was told in the manga.

episode 1 [manga chapters 1-4]:

-makoto loves history and mystical stories, that's why he can quickly realize that tsukuyomi is a god

-At first when Tsukuyomi said that Makoto or his sister should go to another world, he immediately refused and asked if there was someone else who could take his place

-actually the goddess kidnapped two people from earth to become human heroes and tsukuyomi asked Makato to take care of them

-tsukuyomi proudly said that the power he gave to makoto was stronger than the blessing that the goddess bestowed on the heroes

-While trapped in Shen's illusion cube, Makoto is shown not only memories of Hasegawa's confession but also memories of his childhood

-Shen's illusion cube can give the illusion of what the victim really wants or fears

-shen used his illusion cube because she thought it would be safer to wait for makoto to starve to death

from what I remember, he got power from that god, but he was never going to die, humans are essentially living in a 'hell world' and going to that world is more like super man on krypton not being powerful but on earth he is a 'god'.

as for what gets me about the anime, they are fast tracking the hell out of it, which, ok I get the need for because some of the early scenes can be boring or tedious depending on how in the genre you are, but they keep blasting past funny interactions, serious moments that are 'character defining' or just funny interactions that make characters more likeable or builds up a personality.

this is by no means a 'make me average' bastardization, but its not a good seller for the source material either.

I don't like the way they skipped the introduction to Alpine. It made the viewers confused.
