Also Shiki saying Neku used to draw everyone away from him.

When did this happen?

Yeah, in the game, not this anime.

I mean in the first episode he did try to fight on his own and completely ignored Beat and Rhyme when they tried talking to him, he also said some shit about he didn´t like to be around people or something like that

I think this anime is a little bit underrated. I've seen a lot worse anime that have a higher rating is this site. Let ge me this straight, so far The world ends with you isn't a good anime, but it is pretty far from bad either. The impression that I get is that the game tells the same story in a much better wayand maybe that's way many of TWEWY are upset with this adaptation, but hey it could have been a lot worse. As an anime only I am enjoying this series and I'm serioulsy considering buying Neo: TWEWY (I'll buy the original if they port it to PS4). To conlude, I'm sure that if this anime got an episode similar to Fumetsu no Anata e (20) it would have been much better tho
I'd recommend the mobile port assuming you don't have a DS or Switch. It's not bad at all, since it mainly uses touch controls so it translates really well to mobile, and it's only $18. The gameplay is super fun too, honestly one of the best parts.
I've never thought about getting the mobile port since I am more used to playing in a console. But I'll serioulsy consider it, especially if I feel like this anime will be getting better. Thanks for the tip!

Quite liked this episode.
Once again, great everything, except the pacing. sadly.

I think people are rating the anime too low honestly.
Honestly they checked 2 out of the 3 boxes quite well with this adaptation.
The animation/artstyle & the music. Both were things that really stood out with the game. I loved the artstyle & the music and they managed to stay true to the artstyle & even kept some of the music from the game as well.

If it wasn't for the rushed pacing of the plot this would have been a perfect adaptation. But just the plot being rushed doesn't devalue the other things they did really well imo.

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

THEY FUCKED THE ENDING

I was mostly on board with this episode until that part. The little cutscene in the original game where Neku reaches out to Shiki as she ascends was the most touching part of the game to me because of how much it goes on to impact Neku. It was honestly kinda funny to see how drawn out it was here. I don't know why they decided to make Shiki such a pussy here since she seemed to be pretty accepting of how powerless she was in the original game.

The art direction is once again the strongest aspect of this adaptation. I liked the reference to Sota and Nao's death on the 104 billboard, especially since I'm pretty sure this is the first time we've heard about how they died. It's kinda lame that all of the players in this series (except Neku) passed away in traffic accidents though, especially since fewer people own cars in Japan.

The fish noise during that fight with the shark was also a pretty cool idea as well. During the announcement stream for the anime they said they'd be trying to implement some of the stuff which didn't make it into the game. Maybe that was one of their ideas?

As far as my playthrough has gone, I'm currently on Day 4 of week 2. I'd be much further along by now if my impulses didn't force me to befriend all the shopkeepers and work on Neku's stats. It's honestly ridiculous I'm at level 59 and have jumped about 20 levels over the past two days alone. The amount of stuff to do really does make it feel like purgatory.

It's definitely gotten a lot better compared to that first episode, however I still would not recommend this to anyone that isn't already a huge fan of the game.

The fact that the pacing has evened out while abridging the game stuff without feeling as terrible as that first episode has made me actually look forward to the next episode, however I can say I can find some enjoyment out of this due to how much I've played the game and how much of my feelings and memories I've put into this story to the point where even an abridged version is still something I'd look at fondly.

I still wouldn't call it good though, and not even just as an adaptation, but I wouldn't even call this a good anime, viewers that haven't played the game are going to be baffled by the weird pacing and the fights aren't exactly anything to write home about. This shit feels disjointed, they cut out a lot of shit that is actually kind of necessary, an anime only watcher is not going to understand anything about Hanekoma since they basically removed 90% of his involvement so far, which wasn't even THAT much in the game, when he shows up again people who haven't played the game are going to be confused.

3/5 for me as an existing fan, hope it keeps the pacing we see this episode, but this to me has actually taken the place of my obligatory trashy show of the season. It's not really that trashy, but it's serving the same purpose a trashy show would have for me.

The song they played when Neku and Shiki fought the game master, is it from the game? What is it titled?

As someone who played the game only a year after it's release, I think the anime is being done perfectly so far. The last time I played was the Switch port, so my memory of the story isn't 100% but I love the OST and the way they adapted it into an anime. The connection between Neku and Shiki feels so much stronger here.

Ok, I can sort of forgive skipping over Neku's opening monologue and some of the other skipped stuff, but the fact that they didn't even slightly touch on how Neku felt at Rhyme's death is a sure sign of a terribly written adaptation.

For those who don't know, originally in the game after Rhyme is erased, Neku and Shiki get into a heated argument about why Neku thinks things like that are exactly the reason why it's not worth making friends - he feels sad over her death, but he blames RHYME for that sadness. Yeah, it's a lot of edgy loner teen talk, but it's absolutely integral to laying the foundation for his development. Now how exactly are you meant to portray arguably one of the biggest character personality growths in JRPG history without first setting up his initial negative mindset?

The fight with the game master made me think that the cgi may not actually be that good, and overall the fight was dull. The final blow felt so unsatisfying and out of nowhere, especially because Neku pulls an unestablished chain psyche out of his ass.

I liked the little interaction between Lollipop and Pinky (I forget their actual names) at the Mexican Dog store, but then I realised that they STILL HAVEN'T EXPLAINED HOW STORES WORKED AND HOW PLAYERS/REAPERS BECOME VISIBLE INSIDE THEM, which I imagine must be extremely confusing for new viewers.

I have to say though, I really liked the ending where we actually get to see Shiki painfully fade out of existence as she becomes Neku's second entry fee. Its really impactful to watch.
...And now as I'm writing this I remembered that Shiki originally never finds out she became an entry fee until the last day of week 3 in the game...so I don't know if that's gonna affect much.

Also I liked the foreshadowing at the start where the scramble newsboard displayed the deaths of 2 players that will be seen in the next week. Nice little touch.

It's sad that I'm getting increasingly worse things to say about this adaptation since the story is one of the best symbolic commentaries on society in anything, but it's getting butchered by the writing.

I didn't dislike this episode, actually? yay. so far, the pacing is going as expected, with three episodes to shiki's arc. as long as week 2 has slower pacing (given it's the one with the most information/backstory)

i think they showcased rhyme's erasure decently. we don't have the reaction of hers being bitten in the game, so it was a nice addition.

higashizawa was pretty useless as expected lmao he is the easiest boss in the game and not a character I particularly care, so I don't mind. it indeed felt short (and kinda sluggish? hope week 2's boss is not like this for uhhhh obvious zetta reasons)

anyway can't wait for best week best boss and of course THE LEGEND of the entire game

They better do minaminoto right

Well, I played the game some years ago and I loved it.

And... I don't think the pacing of this show is too fast. I mean, it could be slower and double the episodes (24 instead 12), but I think the story is being pretty well narrated.

So... I'll like this show a lot if it continues like this.

I actually felt a little bad for Beat when Rhyme died. Even if I never actually cared for Rhyme at all.

Shiki being the new prize really is a terrible move.

I'm hyped to see Joshua next episode.

2 days.
Kitaniji.
4 players remain?
Bito and Raimu appear.
Dat message.
Uzuki and...
OMG! Raimu saved Bito and got eaten by Shark-kun.
Raimu is dead?
Hanekoma stops Bito.

Loved how Shiki disappeared in front of Neku KH style.
