Now that the manga ended and a lot of people are unhappy, who do you think SHOULD have won. Who was the most logical pick or the one you were rooting for?

Personally I think Itsuki or Miku would have been the most logical but at the same time I would have also been glad if Ichika or Nino (my 2 best girls) won, since they put a lot of effort into the competition even if the methods they used werent the best.

PS/ Who should have won doesn't necessarily mean your best girl. One could be your favorite but you still think someone else winning makes more sense.

I like that harem ending option.

Personally, I like Nino the best. Story-wise, Miku or Itsuki winning is the most logical. No offense to Yotsuba fans, but I think she only won due to the author's recency bias. Of course I'm writing this with the fact that I didn't bother reading the last 10 chapters so my hot take is probably BS

In my opinion the Miku ending could have been the most natural option, Miku was the first of the sisters that started to have interest in Fuutarou, followed what he said and helped him to approach the rest of the quintuplets in order to simplify his work, I think she had the most true feelings

I would say that this is certainly not the case, and that Negi had planned Yotsuba as the winner from the very start. Ten months ago, around chapter 81, there was a fan that basically made a 57 page thesis compiling the clues and foreshadowing that predicted Yotsuba as the bride. I highly recommend any fan of the series to check it out:

https://www.reddit.com/r/5ToubunNoHanayome/comments/bev4p7/my_yotsuba_theory_on_the_subject_of_ribbons_and/

I was lucky enough to have read it while the series was ongoing. It made the reading experience incredibly exciting as the theories fell into place.

I am in the camp that the winner always SHOULD have been Yotsuba. That being said, their relationship and their romance SHOULD have been fleshed out better, and the ending arc SHOULD have been written more conclusively. I feel like most people are less upset about who won, and more upset at about how rushed it all ended.

For anyone familiar with Gekkan Shoujo Nozaki Kun: https://trello-attachments.s3.amazonaws.com/5a752f5a2b82090ef6d9dc50/5c5a5cf2462b7c2876637fac/8d9abcde16bff6fc0ced82a47ba9c372/image.png

Either Miku or Itsuki should have won. Initially I hated Nino but she grew on me as story progressed, I wouldn't have even mind her winning, but Yotsuba winning was just sucked

Also the other 4 sisters would have probably been more satisfied and happy for Miku, thus avoiding all the drama that happened when Yotsuba won because they couldn't accept it.

Here's a fairly controversial opinion to have in these turbulent times: I honestly think that something special could have been done with the series if Ichika had won, even if temporarily. Quick disclaimer: I didn't consider her the "best girl" in the series, but there was something to be had there from a narrative standpoint.

What kept me engaged with her character was her fluctuating morality. It wasn't enough for me to like her more than at least half of the others, but it made her plot line interesting. We saw that she wasn't above playing dirty to achieve what she wants, and unlike some of the others, who often tripped themselves up by being too conscious or kind to their sisters, she seemed ready to go the extra mile, even if she did draw the line. But as the series progressed, there was a time when this line blurred, and she seemed to be getting more and more underhanded and aggressive in her approach, but this plot line ultimately went nowhere, because she just brushed off these tendencies and decided to get along with everyone.

This side of hers was basically Nino's assertive side, plus copious manipulation and ethics on a budget. There were some times I even thought that she was heading in a sociopathic direction, to be honest, and this was something I really would have liked to have explored. It doesn't mean she should have won, but it definitely should have had more significance leading up to the endgame.

Given the extremes she was willing to go, at least at one point, without much qualms, I'm surprised that she decided to play fair, since she never seemed like the type to be a graceful loser. I was of the opinion that Fuutarou would at least date one or two of the heroines before making a decision, so I expected something like that to be used as a catalyst to explore or resolve this element of Ichika's character. When it wasn't addressed to any satisfactory capacity and the ending seemed to be in sight, I couldn't take my eyes off of her because I frankly expected that it would be in line with her character to do something radical to succeed rather than to risk everything on the chance that she might win for who she is. Honestly, I wouldn't even have been surprised if she had entrapped or seduced Fuutarou outright.

These were interesting prospects and plot lines, encouraged in no small part because Ichika was the most open about flaunting her sexuality. I was expecting this direction more than ever when she aggressively stole Fuutarou's first kiss (I wouldn't have been surprised at all if she reached for his belt next), but then again, I didn't know back then that everyone would be getting one in...

My complaint on a larger scale is how the final decision was given to Fuutarou on a silver platter. Everyone up and put their grievances aside so that the escapist harem fantasy that Fuutarou represented could be given the power over the situation. Basically, the ending just treated Fuutarou as a self-insert, without any clear reason of doing so. Our main protagonist aside, the pull of the series was how there were five strong contenders, each with fleshed out characters and dynamics. These dynamics and personalities should've played a greater role in the ending, or at least in the later parts of the series. Instead, everyone just gave up without a fight, irrespective of the fact that their characters dictated otherwise. Fact holds that some of them were aggressive and obsessive enough to keep gunning for him even after he made a decision, and although I can't believe I'm saying this, the series should've gone on longer so we could see this—see these characters respond to the change in circumstances in a way that was appropriate for their personalities, as opposed to it just ending and letting us know that the time skip was basically inconsequential.

Very interesting argument. What I can imagine from this is Ichika winning for a short period of time (like you said) through underhanded tricks, only to realize that this is not what she really wanted, and to realize how much damage and grief she caused to her sisters, then breaking up with Fuutaro herself (or them agreeing to break up but she suggests it)

Not only would it have been a much satisfying resolution for Ichika's character, instead of the author literally taking a shit on her character and making her the villain somehow (even though this is supposed to be the story of 5 equal sisters...), but also a better resolution for her and Fuutaro's relationship. If that had happened I suppose Ichika could have been redeemed fully and not as hated for what she did. Also even if Fuutaro and Ichika eventually break up at least they will remain on good terms, instead of the way their relationship was resolved in the manga (him not trusting her anymore and she's basically out of the competition without ever achieving anything).

I believe that the selfishness she displayed and the underhanded tricks were an interesting thing he did with her character (seeing how she was literally the most selfless in the beginning and how she always stood back to open the way for her sisters, on top of that she was paying for all of their rent and acting as the big sister to support them, it makes sense she will snap at some point and decide she can't take it anymore and instead focus on her own benefit). But the problem isn't the things that she did, just that it wasn't resolved well and she didnt have a good enough redemption.

For example Nino who was a colossal bitch at first (literally drugged Fuutaro twice, that I believe is more grave than anything Ichika ever did) but Nino was redeemed better.

I was team Ichika the whole way, but can't really say I'm unhappy with the Yotsuba ending. Towards the end, the author just completely ignored Itsuki, messed up all the chemistry Ichika and Uesugi had (by turning her from a playful, thoughtful and kind heroine to a straightup witch by making her do some completely unreasonable things for no reason and then made her neutral again) and for some reason just totally dropped Miku (who I thought was the frontrunner). For me, Yotsuba and Uesugi really didn't have that many "moments" to justify that ending. But I'm not really unhappy tho cause Yotsuba was really nice from the beginning. She was always neutral to be exact, but is that really what you want from the main heroine? Idk.

Thw growth of Miku is the best, she is the only one, imo, that changed a lot thanks to Futaro and also thanks to her sisters, I really love her character, but I enjoyed too the final.
Yotsuba is the one which reminded bu his side all the time, so, I'm not deluded <3

When I first started the manga, I was 99% certain Itsuki would be the one, since she was the one introduced first (usually the first introduced is primary) and her personality screamed harem primary love interest. Then I quickly shifted to team Yotsuba because I feel she was a better match for him personality and emotionally-wise, and honestly I was really annoyed at the other girls for being unreasonable and spoiled when he was hired by their father to help them. Yotsuba seemed to be the only one who was genuinely trying from the get-go.

I understand why the story concluded the way it did. I am not mad; I am rather satisfied with the ending. I mean, Genki Girl is best girl, and I do find the charms of Yotsuba understandable.

That being said, Miku is still best girl.

Well, anyone except Itsuki and Yotsuba because I think they get the least romance development, Nino or Miku makes the most sense considering both of them have the best romance development with Fuutaro.

and also for Op, saying Itsuki is the most logical one doesn't make sense considering she doesn't have any romance development with Fuutaro, it's the same as you don't accept Yotsuba winning literally Itsuki and Yotsuba are the same, both have least romance development.

Itsuki wins most logical?? Where did that thought come from?? she was just like side characters and didn't have much romance development, even Yotsuba got better romance development than her. if she wins what's the difference with Yotsuba?? both of them get the least romance development with Fuutaro. so it is the same as the ending being crap.

only Miku or Nino made the most sense if not Yotsuba won, because they had the best romance development.

I want Nino to win, since she's my favorite and also she's the one who has the best romance development, but don't mind if Miku wins because Miku also has the best romance development.

I might object if it was Itsuki considering that she is the same as Yotsuba, even Yotsuba has better romance development, making Itsuki as winner makes no sense considering that until the end she just silenced her feelings to the end. and she was the only quints that aren't that interested in sister wars.

Only Nino and Miku make the most sense when using the original ending, I'm also sure people won't complain because they have the most fans among all the quints and have the most romance development.

Itsuki IMO will be more controversial because she is the quints that has the least development or even less than the winner in the manga, so it will only be controversial like TPN.

Actually don't have a problem about the manga ending, some people said it's too rushed but in my opinion Negi purposely doesn't add too much romance development to Yotsuba and Fuutaro as an element of mystery, as we know Negi is a mangaka who likes to mix elements of Romance and Mystery. He is also the one who breaks not always first meet girls always wins and the main heroine, here we can see Itsuki just like side characters. Honestly Yotsuba is not my favorite girl but I accept her as the winner considering that only she can accept Fuutaro from the start.

I know this is just an opinion poll, but no one SHOULD have won. This decision is not for any one other than the author to make. It's perfectly fine to have a best girl and although I want my best girl to be happy, it's up to the MC to decide and unless he has a poor reason (which he didn't) I respect his choice and I also think it was the most fair.

I am assuming Miku and Nino were the most popular and if the author were to make one of these two the winners, it would not have gone too well I think. I feel like the author purposely placed most of the character development on the 4 others to have the readers invest in the winner the least. I feel like it was the fairest choice to have the least popular one to be the winner if that makes any sense. Harem ending could have been nice but we all know that's kinda bs unless the story setting allows polygamy.

But overall I feel like the focus of the story shifted from Fuutaro and being accepted by the quints to the relationship between the quints themselves, so I am very fulfilled that all 5 went their "separate" ways but still love and cherish each other. I consider Fuutaro actually choosing one of the quints as a bonus, but we should all be content that everyone is happy in the end.

In my mind the only two that should have won are Miku and Nino. Miku is the one that probably has had the most growth from all of the girls. Not only that but I also feel like in some ways, her growth has parallels to that same growth that Fuutarou has exhibited! I felt like they would have had, arguably, much better chemistry than the other girls. Next, I would say Nino. Nino's tsundere story is honestly so touching and the way she was redeemed was handled masterfully. Another thing that made me root for her was her boldness and courage when she confessed her love to him first! I felt like that should be commended and rewarded with them getting together. Not only that but she's shown countless times how far she's willing to go to prove her love. I'm not mad with the ending but it still kinda bugs me. I feel like I would've been more satisfied if the girls themselves would have moved on from Fuutarou as well. However at the end seeing that they kind of didn't then why should I move on as well?

Unfortunately I got spoiled before I started watching the second season, which is why I decided to finally read the manga, binged it over a few nights. It's one of the few manga I've ever cried at, it now joins Rurouni Kenshin and Lucifer and the Biscuit Hammer. And it was at Yotsuba's confession, technically the second one, that made me lose it (and then after that, but not like I've never cried at weddings). We're meant to fall in love with all the girls, but we don't have to choose, but I think the build up to Yotsuba becomes abundanly clear by Kyoto. It's sad, Miku is my girl, but I understand Uesugi's choice and I can't say it's the wrong one for him.

To be honest your just a bullsht also, harem will cause nothing, jealousy of the quintuplets will became more tougher, if Futaro picked them five, he needed to give them all a balance attention but if he pick one the others will understand it and give up on it and that one suppose to be Yotsuba, Futaro already mention it, Yotsuba and only Yotsuba is the person who accept and cheer up Futaro since the beginning and about picking girls Yotsuba just can say that she is the person Futaro met back in Kyoto 5 years ago but instead she cared about her sister and support them, she didn't think about being jealous whatsoever and when she was picked she even worry about her sister and tried to say that she hate Futaro for her sister sake but becuz she is a pure and kind person she didn't able to lie and say something harsh, she's perfectly fit for the bride role

wym about the problem of Yotsuba? isn't Ichika and Nino had the problem? Nino being a tsundere is to much, she do a lot of thing that make Futaro suffer but Futaro didn't care about it, he only care about them 5 learning but she just keep messing things while Ichika use exactly lie to attemt to win
it wasn't Itsuki either, u just said that she is one of had a good character development but i don't really see that, she just eat food all the time, the only development she had is when she pursue her mom and when they dad show up, the author even said make the bonus chapter where Itsuki said that "can't believe you even remember my name" to the author, the author himself knew that he didn't do much of development to Itsuki
about Miku, i don't really had anything to complain, she's being try hard but she's too shy to be in romance, what she did is something like what Itsuki does, Itsuki pursue her mom to be like her, in Miku case she tried to get the highest score and learn how to bake even she always end up making rock just to make Futaro on him, she putting her own dream on a one person and it doesn't make any sense but Yotsuba support them all, cheering them accepting what they feel etc. etc. that's also include Futaro on what Yotsuba did, basically she did the most of the work

Logically, Miku and Nino were probably the ones who should have one. Miku had the most character and romantic development, and she liked Futaro from the manga's first chapters. Nino grew romantically as well. The beginning was rough, but she came to love him. I would think Miku would win though because she was always saying "I won't lose." Yotsuba had some development, but I wouldn't say enough to get Uesugi. Miku studied, cooked, and even confessed to Uesugi. Her sisters even backed her up on the last day of the school trip. I can't really accept Yotsuba, but I don't think Yotsuba got Uesugi to herself. Everyone still gets to be with him because of the camp, and I find that kind of cute.

I see a lot of people saying that the choice of Itsuki would be like the choice with Yotsuba. I kind of disagree, and I would've been more satisfied seeing Itsuki marry Uesugi instead of Yotsuba. Mostly because I find their relationship kind of cute. And Itsuki does actually show that she had some feelings for Uesugi near the end of the manga. Shown by how she was jealous of Yotsuba. Itsuki just seems like a good fit for Uesugi, and their reactions towards each other near the end made me want them to be together more. Especially since they can work together. Also, I found it interesting that the first place Itsuki ran away to was Uesugi's home. Anyway, Miku will always be best girl.

Idk why people don’t like Yotsuba and thinks she didn’t deserve to win. She was the most selfless and kindness one. I actually would have been fine with any of them except ichika. She was the most selfish and tried to sabatoge her sisters.

I just finished the manga and I feel sad about Itsuki and Ichika, they're my favorites, although I understand that Yotsuba was the winner.
Anyway, my favorite is Ichika probably (for me, not for Fuutaro, LOL), although she crossed a lot of red lines manipulating her sisters, and that’s not good. Are you going to marry with a person who manipulates people to get what she wants? She worked hard to get Fuutaro, but at times she was inconsistent and very cowardly. And I’m sure that’s why she lost.

Itsuki it’s the most natural ending, in my opinion, and is the ending I expected. At least, until we knew that Yotsuba was the childhood girl who met Fuutaro. Itsuki was the first one she met in high school, the one who has brought her the most problems (opposite extremes are attracted), and the one who has a personality that best fits with Fuutaro. She also wants to study, she is very applied, very responsible, and it's a love that comes up little by little, with respect, but without forgetting your personal goals.
I was pretty sure she was gonna be the winner.

Nino and Miku weren’t an option for me. Miku is too timid, and Nino... Yandere for Fuutaro... no thanks.

Yotsuba, as I said, once you know the story of when they’re kids, and how they met. Everything fits.
Yotsuba always helped him, and she always sacrificed herself for her sisters, but there’s one point I don’t like, and that’s why it’s hard for me to accept Yotsuba.

She's a birdbrain. Her approach to Fuutaro is always very friendly, and in the end, it becomes romantic?, I find it very forced. She hasn’t really fought for him as her sisters, she didn’t want to be selfish and she was willing for one of her sisters to stay with him. And that’s not good either.

Yotsuba had surrendered from the beginning. I think she was the winner because Fuutaro chose her, but not because she chose to be with him. The decision came from him, she accepted it with relief, nothing more.

Anyway, I liked the end of the manga. I liked the detail of the honeymoon, all together, and I liked how Fuutaro accepts them and recognizes all of them without mistakes. To recognize them requires love, as the grandfather said of them, and among all there is love.

I think Fuutaro has not only married with Yotsuba, he has also won four more sisters. And if the manga continued, I can imagine a multitude of scenes between them. Ichika playing lasciviously, Miku wanting hugs and affection, some fight and a lot of complicity with Itsuki (She should have won, after all, Yotsuba wouldn’t have cared) , and with Nino... well, we all know how Nino is.

I think she would have been a good winner, but the author decided to destroy her chances by turning her into a very manipulative person. Winning at your sisters' expense is not a good option.
But her personality is the one I find most interesting.
Itsuki I think is the one who got most feeling with Fuutaro, as much as the author wants to sell us Yootsuba as a support for him, I see her as a friend, and not as a romantic couple. Itsuki was also a great supporter for Fuutaro, she finally respects him and understands him better than anyone. And I think they share common goals, their own effort to be better students.

Well, as much as I want to root for a harem ending for them, the setting they all together formed, didn't quite allow it flawlessly.

That said, if i wanna choose a single sister, Yotsuba, as she was supportive to him from the beginning, or Nino, cuz she was the one who up fronted her feelings for him first.

Also, I didn't quite like how they all went on the honeymoon of their sister's. Like, why didn't they move on ? Anyways, it's a good series

I would have hoped for Miku to win (best girl for me) because of all the growth she went through from being unable to do anything to being someone who others can rely on. Her story really touched me about how she tried to win his heart.
Although I am not unhappy with Yotsuba's ending but I think Miku deserved better.

it was between 1. Miku, 2. Nino and 3. Itchika, you are on drugs if you think Yotsuba ever had a chance, which is why the ending is garbage

So you haven't read the manga carefully, if you look closely, you'll find itsuki fully worthy and meaningful (This is a spoiler).
1.Itsuki is the main character:
I hate to say this but you are a person who can't read manga, itsuki is the main character in this series, she is the closest person to fuutaro, she is almost indispensable character in each part, proof in the strambled egg is the arc of itsuki, She is the main character in the story as evidenced by the fact that they are all dressed as itsuki and if you look closely then you will see itsuki chatting with fuutarou the most. No matter what she says, she's a great character.
2.She always helps her sisters.
Next, this continues to be a serious mistake of yours when watching manga, I hear many people say yotsuba is always the one who helps the sisters in the love affair with fuutaro. I don't think that makes much sense. Yotsuba is completely passive in that and the person who always does it is itsuki, my friends. Why is it because she helps yotsuba get back into the race by posing as rena and in the Sister of Wars arc she finds the girl who meets fuutaro in the past (yostuba) and knows that yotsuba also suffers so her mother nature awakens and does everything to let fuutaro know the feelings of yostuba. She also contributed a little to miku's love performance better and she was always by fuutaro's side to give advice. I'm just listing it, but there's still a lot. What Itsuki did was almost forgotten and no one cares about it and that's why she deserves it.
3.Itsuki has feelings for fuutaro
This is what I'm talking about here. It is true that itsuki has feelings for him thanks to his actions and interest in him. In chapter 70 itsuki says that she is also quite jealous and that she also has feelings for fuutaro. Many people say she is unworthy because there is no emotional development with fuutaro. I'll explain it like this: You say there's a wrong place. It's true that she doesn't have the same emotional development as miku or nino but that doesn't mean she's not worthy of her love because she's the one who keeps the balance in her family and has to act as a mother to her sisters. Seeing yotsuba in pain in love itsuki has to ignore his feelings to help his sisters that is the element of the best girl and that is why itsuki is the most reasonable.

If I had to choose the best girls, I would choose miku va itsuki:
Simply because miku has a huge emotional process with fuutaro and thanks to these things, miku is stronger than before and always ready to fight for his love and itsuki (I mentioned above so I will not say anymore).

Story wise and in my opinion miku should have won.

I wasn't expecting yotsuba to win.

She was just a background character to me.

Story-wise, Itsuki should have won since she (probably) had the closest relationship (friends) with Fuutarou.
