scapegoat of the season?

i don't know if this is just me, but although this show isn't all that good, i feel like perhaps this show is kind of overhated. the characters being manipulative feels quite human and silly revenge plans fit as well considering the main characters are all teenagers. the plot twists actually feel deliberate when you take into account all the other ridiculous things that are happening, and well it fits its harem genre quite well with many girls involved. again, this is isn't really a good show, but i don't think it deserved as much hate as it gets, it reminds me of how much everyone hated eromanga sensei despite there being far worse in that season.
edit: in case of the argument of cringy humour, this is prevalent in most school romcoms and honestly i don't think it's a big enough factor to push the rating of this show so low.

This is overhated, I would agree some of the episodes have been really bad, volume 1 is pretty bad except for the starting, but some of the last few episodes have been pretty decent imo

yeah it’s pretty overhated simply because it’s harem. i don’t think it’s a good show but it’s enjoyable.

he seems to be a scapegoat just because he has more people watching, despite being """"""bad""""""" there are worse animes this season like Jouran or sayonara watashi Crammer, but both have few members watching so it seems that there are only people talking badly about this one in particular.

I mean it would be half as bad if there is a point. Like he always change his mind about the girls , it seems like he loves every single EPs someone else. Last Episode was just pain to watch. What's the point in let her life with him. Nah nvm just a little bit Madge about this.

Gotta ask, beside the poor animation, why do you think Sayonara Watashi no Cramer is bad? I'm currently watching it, because the story is fine(not bad nor really good) IMO.

You just mentioned 2 pretty good ones.
Jouran is currently should be around 8 and Watashi no Cramer should be 7-7.5.
While this shows is 6.5-7.

The anime is lost in its own theme, it doesn't know what it's going to focus on and ends up not showing anything or part of the drama and growth of the characters, nor does it show the football games themselves, there were 11 episodes, several games have already occurred and none of them were highlighted they keep cutting scenes and repeating flashbacks in the middle of matches as if we had forgotten (how many times have they repeated that scene of the girls challenging each other?) I can only feel bored as I see today's episode as an example, there were 2 teams on the field and the episode made it look like a two-player X1 while the rest watched, when a move would happen again they play flashback and come back with a frozen frame with the dubbing in the background, zero emotion, zero feelings

Yeahh, I found that to be a weak part of the show as well. Based on how the author and studio approach the show, it seems they put the focus more on the characters rather than the story.

But NGL, I still find it quite enjoyable. Character's chemistry, development, story (though not perfect nor great, is still enough for me) and the comedy are pretty good IMO. A 7 out of 10 overall for me.

I definitely feel like this is over hated imo. Trying to tell me this is worse than a domestic girlfriend and some of the other garbage we have here? I guess those are funny enough to watch to see the dumpster fire though. By no means is this show amazing, but it's enjoyable enough to watch because it's like a basic rom-com anime and it essentially stays basic which is neither great or bad because at the very least you can know it'll be enjoyable if you like highschool rom-coms. Cute girls, MC who magically gains a harem and is kind of a loser but has his cool moments. It doesn't do anything extremely well but It's like a 6.8-7/10 imo and is perfectly there, it's enjoyable enough to watch although the romance is a weaker point here but the midway episodes from 2-6 I genuinely enjoyed. I feel like people tend to forget that genre matters when looking into anime. It may be more because I care less about the romance here and more about the comedy similar to kanojo mo kanojo where if it's stupid enough to entertain me then I won't consider it horrible. I agree with your take about the characters and I'm honestly just trying to figure out why this show is getting such low scores when it isn't very different from many other romcoms and their shenanigans. Hell I really loved quints (not the ending that was written like actual trash) and having their VA's back is nice too and the sound design here is pretty decent as well. Overall yea, this is basically the overhated anime of this season although the light novels better anyway so I guess that's fine. I feel that if a show is enjoyable it's accomplished enough and though I haven't finished it the show has seemed enjoyable enough to me so far. I do hope the series gets better and when it ends it's at the very least entertaining to watch/read. P.S shout out to ayanokouji sneaking his way onto the show since COTE won't get a S2
