why she would be involved randomly with a manga before it was ever adapted makes zero sense.
This sounds like fan theories at best.

Of course she wouldn't have been involved with the character before Takei met her at all. That being said, the character of Anna was created in around 1994, but she did not get her own series until 1998 (Shaman King).
And Hyashibara sensei was put in charge of Anna in 2001. considering the Shaman King series is still ongoing to this day, that's a lot more Hayashibara Anna than Takei Anna. Honestly even the main series that ended in 2004 (and then ended again in 2008) has more Hayashibara Anna than Takei's Anna.

I think you over-imagined it. Yeah, she's been involved with her for awhile and had some input in the script regarding the character, but to me that is nowhere near the same thing as being based on or even giving her co-writing credits.
The latter is more believable if she really has input this much (say, like Tobin Bell for Jigsaw in the Saw films), but I think the former that she was based on her is pure fan speculation. You didn't offer up any proof at all.
In fact you contradicted it with "she was made in 94 and didn't get her own series until 98 which was Shaman King".... so yeah, already existed without Hayashibara, right? That's how I read that.
Life can be cruel and unfair. At worst it can traumatize and cripple you. The desire for wanting things to return to the way they were can cost everything and changes nothing. The best way is to keep moving forward, struggle on.
Anger can be powerful but can only get you so far. Let people into your life even if some of them leave you in time.

Fight. Like. Hell. For everything and everyone you love. Always.

I'd say we just have a different definition of what the word based on means in the context. For you it seems to be of much more importance what the character was first created as, whereas for me it's what that character aims to be.

That being said, this is not the thread to further discuss it, as none if this has anything to do with this episode of the anime ^^'

pfffffft why does yoh have a shirt with weed print? Isn't he like 10?

14 at the time of this episode. Yoh is a big fan of Reggae music, so a shirt like this could be just a normal fan activity.

Another thing to keep in mind is, Shaman King explores believes related to death and spirituality from all around the world, so culture, religion and yes, drugs are obviously a part of it.
Drugs have been associated with spirituality and shamanism pretty much no matter how far back we look. The idea of a trance being a part of the process largely stems from the seers getting high

uuu you're right these are all good points i didn't even think that deep about it

Horohoro is here, being funny as always. Nice fight, not as flashy as some other shows but still enjoyable.

Oh boy, the Faust fight is coming. That's going to be great. Can't wait to see it.
Come on man, where is that Noragami season 3 masterpiece. We want it, Bones!

Anna is so scary. I was very relaxed and liked this episode, maybe because this is Yoh's first match against Horohoro. The very cute Horohoro spirit, namely Kororo. He fights using snowboards, which is kind of cool. It seems that Horohoro and Yoh are both under pressure from being trained by their younger siblings and future wives. Can't wait for the next episode.

First episode that was kind of nice. Fights still suck huge time, as they are basically still frames + screen shake.

I get that this is quickly paced insanely which is bad IMO for newcomers, they aren't getting the chance to know the characters. In the original 2001 series Hororo doesn't even show up till episode 9, and Faust till like episode 20. I hope they are doing this to get to the manga portion that wasn't aired in the original series and slow down at some point.

I know the characters better now than I ever did in the meandering 2001 series.

I don't get why everyone expects all characters to be thoroughly explained in one episode before now, instead of gradually learning more about each of them with EACH episode. Yoh's personality is gradually being revealed through each episode vs "EVERYTHING YOU EVER NEED TO KNOW IS IN 1, ONE AND DONE" kind of thing.

The former is just better writing in general and it allows for this kind of pace, which isn't even remotely what I'd call "insane" either; it's damn near identical to the manga so far, vs just a tiny fraction of things that were removed to simplify.

I don't understand these complaints at all.

I really like the idea of having a grand battle that incorporates the spiritual legends of different cultures. However, it would be so much better if the fights involved more animation and there was less talking. I don’t know why this series keeps getting in its own way.

Uh what? The remake we are currently watching is the one haphazardly shoving everything you need to know into one episode instead of the much better paced original. I get that the original deviated from the original quite a bit but the pacing, art, and animation were much better then what we've gotten so far. I'm honestly hoping they're just halfassing the previously covered material cause they intend to do the parts the original didn't cover that much better.

Apart from the Faust episode, I completely disagree.

Seems I need to repost my Episode 4 discussion post.
"Yes the story is one big tournament battle but it doesn't mean it focuses on physical combat. Shaman King is about battling with wits, like Death Note was but flashier. It's not a Talk no Jutsu like some would believe just because Yoh can talk people into having a change of heart [or understand where they come from]; it doesn't even go as nearly as long as a standard Talk no Jutsu.

Shaman King is a series that focuses on human characteristics while cleverly disguising it as a standard shounen of its time. It's more about character dynamics than it is about combat despite the well flushed out system. That's why this [series] is so good because yeah it's a fight but it also delves into so much deeper concepts. It's like if Rurouni Kenshin had fights with impact like Soujirou's but almost every fight is like that."

MY. BOY. HOROHORO! IN 4K! YES! Such a good fight! Well fleshed out, beautifully drawn and animated, it's amazing how far you can introduce and develop a character in a single episode. And this is what you can expect with every other main character from here on.

Of course there's a few skeletons lying in the closet but they make themselves useful later.

Horo-Horo's finally appear and it's different from Shaman King 2001.
I didn't read the manga but I can see that Horo-Horo first appearance in this 2021 anime is similar to the PS2 game I played before. Wonder if this how Horo-Horo actually introduced in the manga.

First good battle episode. and i mean it. 'till now every battle felt like slideshow, but this time the fight felt dynamic and connection.
My only complain is that probably there won't be any 2-episodes battle. I kind of miss the battle's cliffhanger. hope I'm wrong about that.

I know this is more faithful adaption of the manga, but it was weird to see Hororo presented like this. the way the 2001 version presented him was hilarious and more personal.
Never the less, Yoh and Hororo's friendship felt realistic enough by their dialogues.
Though Hororo's sister presentetion was weak as Anna's. well maybe Anna's was better.
