How long will the beard last?

So Joe's beard is pretty cool in my opinion, I think it's a good example of how full beards can work on main characters in anime (even if it is a face beard). We don't see them often since facial hair is still a bit taboo in Japan (and a lot of young Japanese men can't grow full beards), so it's very refreshing when a protagonist grows a proper full beard. Maybe people disagree, growing a beard is a personal choice and some people just don't like how they look.

However I have to ask, since this is an anime... When's Joe shaving? We all know its going to happen, pretty sure it's a 'grief beard' like you'd see in some 80's and 90's movies (probably Joe's beard is a reference to the Rocky movies) and I think there's concept art, or a key visual or something for this season that shows him long-haired and clean shaven. I'd say it's gone before episode 7.

While we're at it, I'm interested: would you like to see more main characters in anime with facial hair? I thought Goku with a beard looked great, for example, really sold the Dragon Ball Boomer vibe.

I don't know man I think he is going to keep that shit. He looks too badass with it. I hope he embraces that look - Kratos style, yah? He is no longer that Joe we once knew...we are looking at Joe 2.0 - a better, wiser, manlier, beardier upgrade and yah boi is HERE FOR IT

This season is way too different from the last one. This one concentrates more about drugs and how did joe end up when he started to use them. Will he be able to stop? Will he change? Will he get back to his normal character? All of those are questions that the story concentrates on it.

I hope he keeps it. It makes him look older and more experimented, like a new, more mature Joe who’s back to kick some ass again. If he was to shave it, I’d say right before he goes back to the professional ring, but I really hope he keeps it.

I had exactly the same thoughts in mind so thanks all of you Guys saving me time :D Actually I would risk I am the only one here who was a teenager in the 90’ when Rocky was on peak so that’s why these matching ideas caught me absolutely off-guard! ^^ Finally: I hope the badass beard will last looong :P
