It looks promising from the first episode. But i have no idea wtf is going on. Can somebody please explain. I have no knowledge about asian history and the world being in a alternate history timeline makes it much harder to understand. As far as i can tell our main group hunts werewolfs?? like wtf?

this show seems like a one from the blood series but kinda worse. Some heroine with kinda undead-ish power killing monster.

And you don't understand anything because of 2 reasons, 1 - there is nothing much to explain. 2 - it's just the first episode.

Basically, the mc want to kill because shit happened when she was a kid and somehow she ended up in that organization that is killing those monster that I don't remember how they were called. It seems to have a setting aound 1800-1900 in an alternate japan, or something similar. Not 100% sure because I didn't pay that much attention.

Well I'm pretty sure it's an original series so all anyone has is the first episode. Don't think they're werewolves, more like weird spirit monster things (I think they work in similar way to the main lady, except with no control. Don't know for sure though)

I liked how you mentioned that the monsters have “no control.” Because I also agree, especially since we saw that man she once knew as a human in monster form. Kinda sad if you think about it :( I wonder if the monsters will have the same significance as (ifykyk) in aot???? I also wonder if all monsters are originally humans then “transform” at night or some crap, or if there’s this whole “monster” group thing that are just evil. Because, if these “monsters” are merely humans who have been controlled by some type of object or MAYBE feelings?? This makes us question if these monsters are formed by an overwhelming emotion taking over them??? OR maybe this is all a TOTAL stretch and people just get turned into monsters bc... some person is behind all of this??😭😭 maybe that’s the reason the kid called him in the beginning and the dude left??? I HAVE NO IDEA THIS IS ALL A BIG STRETCH HAHA but the first episode was really good, cant wait to see more. :)

The original manga was the mother of all action ecchi with a female MC. Including, if I'm not mistaken, creation of a trope "psycho lesbian who tries to rape a cool female hero". But it doesn't look like it will in any way try to reach out to ecchi roots.

I think this is supposed to be a loose adaptation of the film Lady Snowblood

The film itself is loosely based on the original manga, and the new anime has nothing to do with it.

Have you ever heard of the original Lady Snowblood manga before? It is a rather iconic work that has influenced many genres and created a number of tropes like "woman with a sword in an umbrella". And yes, this work was one of the main sources of inspiration for ecchi action, especially its yuri-ish parts.

Which is not surprising when you remember that it was written by the author of The Crying Freeman.

Yeah i hope they go in the Aot direction. If they go with evil organisation i dont feel it will have that much impact.

@RobertBobert: I see. Never heard of that manga, or honestly of that trope either. Thanks, that was informative.

Well, it was pretty cult and, as far as I can see, was officially published in English a long time ago. But as far as I can tell, the anime only uses the main motive, making the rest of the elements more tame. At least I doubt that here we will see MC killing someone with lesbian sex (yes, this is the actual moment from the original).

as much as i understood, i think it is about/related to fighting the governemnt’s bad administration. 1-2 minutes in the episode, we see some ninja-looking men come and attack people who oppose them, and they shout “damn government people” (or something like that). It’s also written on myanimelist that our protagonist Sawa is fighting with an organization called “Nue”. The plot gave me Moriarty the Patriot vibes, fighting with the rich and getting revenge and all that. But I don’t have a single idea what that transforming into a monster thing is about

Generic revenge story.
Girl witnesses her family being murdered, swears revenge. A little bit of edginess added.
Main girl joins this shady Nue organisation only so they would train her so she could exact her revenge, but is not loyal to them one bit. Said organisation is anything but nice guys.

Obviously, they'll turn out to be antagonists responsible for her family's death. Beyond obvious.
