By no means am i an expert in psychology but i still like to take a deeper look into the characters, basically i think all 5 characters have some sort of psychological problem and show tries to deal with them / solve them by using the phenomena caused by fuusenkazura

lets start with yui, she is scared, not just scared of men but scared to face the hardships of life and avoids/ignores her problems. she gets over this issue that is caused by a childhood trauma (near rape experience) with a kick in the nuts and a hug, which i really dont think is realistic, sure some other things also happened and supporting friends and unconditional love definitely helps but i still think it would be much harder to get over such a problem and there would be lingering problems related to her trauma.

inaba has trust issues, cant trust anyone and says she sees everyone as enemy. she gets over this pretty much by her friends trusting her. this is a pretty cliché solution but that must mean it works right? in any case i think show didnt explore this deep enough and it feels lacking.

taichi's issue is supposed to be his selflessness, he kinda goes "i do it because of selfish reasons" route which every selfless person does. but overall i dont actually think this to be a problem especially if you have good friends.

aoki's issues are probably one of the worst among the 5, they were only hinted at and dont present a problem currently but deep down he has bottled up some existential issues that can later manifest in horrible ways, but for now he deals with them by ignoring them and living a carefree life, my bet is LN touches those issues and goes deeper if not i will be pretty disappointed when reading them

i left iori to last because her issue was the "most important issue for the show" she apparently lost her personality, she gets there because she acts like someone who can please others, starting with her mothers second husband who is an abusive pos. when something like that happens to a person you dont just lose your personality and have trouble deciding what club to join or what flavor icecream to eat, but you become depressed and even lose your will to live. she gets there eventually, we dont see the full extend of it, but what was shown was enough to make me feel she might commit suicide. i really liked the way her problems were presented but the solution is just pure garbage, she basically wills herself to recovery, and afterwards she is just back to her usual self, it felt like one of those "power of friendship" moments from action shounens there were even screaming about "saving" a friend like come on.

so what do you guys think? did you find the solutions satisfying and realistic?

First let me ask you a question, did you expect a timely response on a forum post for an anime that was made 8-9 years ago?
How am I supposed to decide what to write, I can't choose an anime to watch to save my life, you think I can pick a signature?

its not really about expecting a response as much as wanting to hear other peoples thoughts, even if i dont get a response it doesnt really matter.

Okay, I found Kokoro Connect pretty satisfying tbh, but it didn’t really wrap things up, and the ending was open ended. But that’s to be expected for an adaptation. Although I didn’t notice any issue with Aoki, but that’s probably on me, I take most things at face value.

eh, aoki didn't really have that big of a problem now did he? He had a middle school girlfriend who moved to somewhere else. Is that the most important issue in the whole show? His character is really not that well written so you can only make speculations about him i guess. Well, that's my opinion anyway.

like i said i dont believe any of their problems were actually solved, they were just revealed to the group and buried deeper inside. i mean i just cant believe solutions could be so simple and easy. so i was going on an assumption that there is a continuation to the story that delves deeper and provides more satisfying solutions. so in that continuation i thought aoki would have the greatest potential for a total break down. like after finishing an anime dont you find yourself contemplating the future of the characters, its like that. as for the story of the anime itself, if we were to look at it as a complete story with proper ending, you are absolutely correct and he didnt have a big problem at all.
