Ik this is a stupid question but Shu just pissed me off the whole time. Everything he did just made me want to punch him in the face. Ik that it’s supposed to be kinda realistic with Shu mentality getting dragged into something he didn’t want to do with being a terrorist and being the president/king but everything he did just angered me for some reason. Also GC just didn’t make sense while watching it. It was the understandable at first and then the backstory just hit in ep 11-12 when he remembers thing and there was something about a wedding and his sister and Inori. Then later on with guy coming back alive and with his sister again and they both die and shu was gonna die with Ironi also but he didn’t but Inori did because she saved him. The ending just made no sense to me. I tried to understand it by reading someone’s forums and it did help a little bit but I’m probably to stupid to understand it though. The anime was enjoyable even though Shu pissed me off.

A friend of mine recommended me this anime and I regret listening to that. By the time you come to the annoying part of GC your reasoning was probably to finish it anyways because you've already watched like 50% of the show.

So yeah I've no idea why this anime has a 7.52/10. I gave it a 5/10 instead.

Yeah guilty crown took me for a ride. I honestly didn’t know what the hell I was watching near the end of it. The first half felt like a standard Shonen with romantic aspects to it but then the second half was let’s just say interesting. The ending was a redeeming factor as it didn’t cop out with an ‘and everyone lives happily ever after’ and the music was irrefutably great. TL;DR no you’re not the only one!

Honestly the first half (1-12, it has been a while since I finished the anime so I don’t remember exactly) was amazing in my opinion because it had a solid ending that was a bit emotional. It was just in the second half where Shu pulled a Lelouch R2 for the next few episodes until 19 just made him unlikable even though I understand his pain. I felt that ending was okay because I don’t mind bittersweet endings which are typical for Drama type anime even though people don’t like the ending and I completely understand that.

I can see where you are coming from, he isn’t a very good protagonist although I did like how he was reluctant to being dragged into shit he didn’t want to do, it’s a fresh take on protagonists since most protagonists will give in to this stuff too easily

I dropped the anime after episode 7 atone point. I decided to give it another chance, and finished it. The characters were not memorable at sll (minus in doujins lol). I do think it desserves a 3-5.

Nope. Well actually, I wouldn’t say the WHOLE anime. I did like the first half but ultimately I had a love/hate relationship with this show. Can’t resist the soundtrack ofc and I think ep 9 had me sobbing. But definitely by the second half I wanted to punch Shu many times and it took me four years to even watch the last five episodes. It confused the hell out of me but I didn’t feel like going back to analyze them.

Also just to add, was anyone else SUPER thrown off when he pulled out Guy’s heart weapon (forget what it’s called) bc I clearly remembered them saying that you could only take the ones of those 17 or younger (for some convoluted reason??) and I was like “there’s no fucking way he’s only 17...” and even then they turned out to be childhood friends...what???

I went into this anime hoping to meet my expectations, but it was completely a disappointment. It felt like I forced myself to finish the show. The plot didn’t make sense, the characters completely pissed me off the entire show. It might be the fact that I couldn’t relate to a single character, or the lack or character development, but watching it was platonic. It’s not the worst anime I’ve ever watched, but it won’t be anywhere near memorable.

Yea I also wanted to punch him in the face. The whole anime is trash, especially the characters are extremely annoying.

Figured at least one person needed to come in here and defend GC lol. I really don't see why everyone hates this series so much, I enjoyed it very much from beginning to end (yes, even the second half)! Everyone has their own tastes of course, but I really don't get how people can hate this series yet love garbage anime like Cowboy Bebop or Haruhi Suzumiya.

Anyway, so yeah, I guess I'll just stand alone as the one person on the planet who actually likes Guilty Crown. I even gave it an 8/10 XD

I now open the floor to all your insults and name-calling, feel free to tell me how "gay" I am, and how I'm just a dumb weeb with shitty taste in anime :)

The first eight episodes were so boring, it made me think of dropping Guilty Crown. But the remaining of first half was pretty good, so i decided not to drop GC.

was the peak of second half of the anime. I just wish it stayed until the end and

Overall, imo GC is pretty good. It has standard story, but at least its soundtrack is top-tier.

I found Shu the least aggravating thing about this anime and I was still irritated by him bc he’s such a pushover. The people around him constantly do insane shit like when they estimated they would lose 1/3 of their men, but what’s the fucking point of losing all those ppl if no one else is going to fight. Watching that show gave me a literal headache.

At this point, I would say Shu is actually one of the things that I still enjoy from the anime, and here I thought he would be the one to ruin the show.
That job was handled to almost anything else aside from him.
