I like the way True Tears handled symbolism, and at some point it was mentioned that Shinichirou flying was meant to say that he is finally able to make his own choices rather than going with the flow of situations (thus leading us to the conclusion of the series). But after finishing this series I'm still wondering if there's anything deeper than that behind this symbolism. Why exactly a chicken? And what was the purpose of the picture book?
The anime provided many hints to answer the question but I still wanted to hear others' opinions since I could not form an opinion that satisfied me concerning the issue.
