So there's more investigation and focus on the world expansion/building in this show. This is one of the fascinating things I found about Listeners, in that it continously builds on what it has done already.

Kinda interesting to realize to see more of history of the Gnome people and its country.

Also, I think Echo should be more careful of his health especially during his journey. He doesn't looks very well or like usual with that nosebleed but at least he recovered. It's also obvious how much Muse cares about him since this journey. The second half of episode is pretty thrililng. I'm impressed at how brave Echo and Muse are together to fight the good fight.

I’ve kinda given up looking for like legitimate plot in this show and have just accepted it as being a fun way to spend 24 minutes with themes of adolescence and puberty, basically like FLCL.

The pacing still feels really off to me like we go from place to place and meet new people but there’s never really any lead in to it. I did like that we got new lore today about Jimi and the earless, but other than that I felt like it was kind of fast.

Another episode I actually liked.

One Piece episode 914 & 915 & 1027 were a mistake and 957 brought the salvation - FMmatron

So, was Echo really at risk of becoming an Earless or not? That sound sickness thing seemingly came out of nowhere and I don't think it was foreshadowed in previous episode. I actually liked when μ decided to stop being a Player if it meant saving Echo because it gave their relationship some much-needed pathos, but that went away pretty quickly. It's like the story had backed itself up into a corner and needed a way out. Other than that, this was a nice episode. Earless aren't destructive monsters, they have their own level of sentience and they can be reasoned with, but the human nations wanted to destroy them because of racism and racism is bad. Also, the sisters are back. I really like the sisters, they're fun antagonists. If nothing else, I can enjoy Listeners for the comedy and the fight scenes.

Now is where we get the real meat into understanding the Earless and more of their background.

Other than that, Echo and Mu's journey continues after finding the lead to Jimi last episode, but with Echo's increasing risk of becoming an Earless due to the strain put on this partnership between Player and Equipment.

Immediately, the world-building increases with Roz and her small lil' country of Player rejects (The Wall), once a country that's similar to the Gnome people and in harmony with the Earless. A humanitarian effort that in all instances, was for naught when differences start to appear.

The Player Sisters are back to wreak more havoc, but Echo and Mu really fought the good fight with comedic and fun fighting.

Nevertheless, the journey must go on, and more leads to Jimi in dangerous territory awaits them. One of the better episodes to come out TBH.

This show definitely needed 24 episodes. The mystery and intrigue of what the earless are could have been built up over 12 episodes to be revealed here with the ppl of The Wall.

We finally know why people turn into earless, Echo should be careful that he doesn't turn into one.

Mu blushing was so adorable, her feelings for Echo confirmed hehe.

If I had to guess, they're setting up for a future development on that front where Echo was lying and actually was at risk of becoming an earless.

I do like the sisters, but I didn't like that they got turned into a Team Rocket type in this episode, just showing up so they can be blasted off. They brought a fun dark energy when they were introduced- even if they were a bit... slow - and now they seem to be comedic villains.

If Echo is really at risk of becoming an Earless, that I hope the series handles this well. It's been a lighthearted, if ominous, ride so far, and that development would take the series on a darker direction.

Yeah, the sisters basically became the show's Team Rocket. I get that Echo and μ upgraded their Equipment a few episodes ago, but I don't think that's enough to bridge the power gap between them and the sisters. Hopefully, their next appearance will be better than this.

I'm honestly confused by people who don't think this show has a plot. Because the last two episodes especially have just been FULL of plot seeds, and the couple before that weren't much less in many ways. It's a very trickle in the hints sort of thing. But frankly, at this point I'd say the plot is just as carefully crafted as the music references. Each episode is revealing more, and it's obvious they are going somewhere. We don't know what yet, but it's happening. And the whole will probably be pretty interesting too!

That said, anyone catch what the band next week is? Is it Sex Pistols? I'm not entirely sure right now.

So we got a Pink Floyd reference whose episode title was "Goodbye Blue sky."

Does anybody notices that Roz's dad was a dead-ringer for Pink Floyd Guitarist, Roger Waters?

This episode was entirely a Pink Floyd reference: The Wall, Shine on you Crazy Diamond, Dark Side of the Moon, Goodbye Blue Sky, I loved how they tried to pack in so many references into one episode. Other than that, the episode wasn't great, it was fine; however, I will say that this show is improving vastly compared to it's first few episodes.

Another Episode of Listeners (We´re right in the middle) and surprise...
I really liked this one.
Well, at least I liked more than the previous 5 episodes.
This time we learned more about the earless and it seems we finally begin to understand what happened to Jimmy.

However, even with this decent 24 minutes, the pace still feels off.
Let´s see what is going on next week.

Why does the show have such a low rating? I will not call it a masterpiece, but it is a rather interesting anime, which also works quite original with some themes.

Yep, the show has indeed a plot developing, but i think it ends more on background with many references here and there. It's not a bad thing btw, and i guess that was the goal, making a show with references building the plot. It's really entertaining.
I'm just worried that the plot seeds end unsolved with just 12 eps. Hope a season 2 is on the way.

And yes, it's Sex Pistols.

True story. Legitimately EVERY episode has been just as, if not even more full of references. (In case you were just meaning you loved how they did in this episode). It just requires knowing the band and their surrounding genre and influences at a nerdy level to catch them all.

that's why I say this entire anime is a work of art. The amount of effort and love that went into all those references is just ridiculous. That's not just a throwaway thing, there's things they've gone DEEP to get. Does that mean it's successful art? Maybe not given so many reactions to the show. But it's definitely a work of love and art.

It's also why I maintain we might end up with an entirely different view of the show by the end and the entire picture becomes clear.

I wouldn't mind if Echo became a earless lol that pyramid looks like a fun place to live out minus the earless. This episode really makes you wonder about the origin of all this mess.

Personally, I would've preferred a good anime with deep references than deep references with a mediocre anime built around them...
The plot is just a bare-bones: they arrive to a place, find someone who know Jimi, talk to them, leave the place. Insert obligatory (usually pointless) fight somewhere between those...

Never saw no military solution, that didn't end up as something worse

It kinda sucks that Rie Kugimiya, KanaHana are just in 1 episode only...

I guess it works in the adventure story that they have to keep moving to new places.

I don't get a lot of the references since I'm a 90's kid but I'm enjoying the anime. 6-7/10

Miu is so cute when she worries for Echo, she even went as far as to quit being a player for he sake, she is so great. Lol'd when she wanted to beat up that girl for lying that Echo will turn into an Earless. About that, wow, to think that you could transform into an Earless over... something like that? Great guy Echo for not wanting to needlessly worry Miu, good job by him for telling Miu that white lie. We learnt more about Jimi, now off to meet him, hopefully? don't understand why none of them told the girl that Jimi is Miu's brother.

Also, haha, Miu thinking that siblings should have the same likes and dislikes lol. You can tell she is actually thinking about it and thinks its true. "Oh no, what if he dislikes my favorite ice cream, am i supposed to also dislike it?" (I don't know what's her favorite food)

So much this, last episode and now this, the fights are getting worse and worse, it's like we skip several scenes, anime is so fast-paced even during fights. And, you already know the next episode is gonna have a different setting, so any emotion that main couple can perhaps lose and something dramatic would happen is thrown out of the window...

I'm with you on this one, but people are picky and have higher standards built by their favorite anime, can't blame them.

Yeah me too. xD

I gave up to make sense to it so far, but I really like the style and Myu is quite fun to watch, so I guess I will continue the anime. It's nothing great and I'm so confused what it mashes up together, but I kinda enjoy it nonetheless.
Normally I lke episodic stories too, but here it feels a bit off.

Not much but its better than yuck episode before. Again. Jimi was not there. Another wasted of time travelling there. Atleast that Roz feel better than any character before. And, yeah, flash back. Great. But i felt empty watched it, idk why? Maybe its because too much? Unfortunately Echo had a disease that maybe bring a sadness in the end. Ah, that trio lady of shitless come to party, but hello, sayonara! Another shameful battle couldn't satisfied me well, mmh, its okay! So thats it. I still dont understand the whole music reference so, yeah, its okay to just ignored it, then
