Interesting, the setting of this anime expands with new content and world building. It's not everyday that you get to see a colorous city like that.

I like this strange city they're in though. Very glamorous with an entertainment style society. Echo and Muse make such a fun team to watch together when they're on the same page.

This show’s not exactly subtle with the references lol, but I still love it. Within 3 minutes we get dozens of Prince and Jimi references.

Does anyone else feel like the pacing is a bit off in the show tho? It seems like we move from place to place way too fast without any of them ever getting a chance to develop.

Like in episode 3 we were in the workshop with the former players, but it never really explained how or why we got to the school.. now we’re in purple rain territory and I’m not quite sure why. Other that that, I enjoy it a lot

“Girl 6” “boy 9” lol.

Pretty fun episode, went by really quickly and gave us some more lore on Jimi and the world. Looks like there was a massive LiveAid style concert held to get rid of the earless but it didn’t quite work. Let’s see where we go next week

So now we know more about the incident years ago that Echo saw. Interesting.

Much like how some of the themes in today's ep were lol.

I really liked this part-time job bit and I wish we could have seen a bit more. In particular, I wish we could see more of Mu and Echo's daily routines, both within the context of this ep and just in general.

The revelation of Mu being Jimi's sister was nice, a bit more info on who she is and her connection to the overall story.

The city depicted this episode reminded me of Las Vegas for some reason, probably because of all the Neon Lights.

Can't wait for next week!!

Overall, I find this episode to be a relative improvement compared to the previous one. Still the pacing felt too fast and the new characters were hardly fleshed out. But it kind of progressed the relation between the MCs, so that's a plus.

I honestly felt uncomfortable about the kind of job they gave to μ, however, she didn't seem to mind it so may be that's ok... I guess?!! Anyway, her replies to the questions were hilarious. The sound of meat grilling is appealing tbh.

I wish I ever knew what has happening in the first five minutes of an episode haha.

The pacing of this series is still too hurried for my liking, and the behind the back scene of Echo talking to Denka looked absolutely abysmal.

Still, the universe somewhat intrigues me. I could understand why there would be a movement to co-exist with the earless, since they're former people.

I'm not a huge fan of them directly revealing some of the mystery behind Jimi via flashbacks, but I guess our characters need to learn somehow.

The pacing is a little too fast, but that's a generic curse to deal with when trying to tell a full story in just 12 episodes, I guess.

But man, I love the character designs. Quirky, eccentric, weird - but it works extremely well, because they manage to match looks and personalities. Add to that the setting, the locations... Nothing if not entertaining af, and I don't even know all the references.

And HOLY SMOKES Goodbye Blue Sky. So not something I'd expect to see in anime, even in one like this, but it's also been an absolute favourite of mine for ever. Can't wait!

What I really like about Listeners is that it doesn't take itself too seriously. If it did, it wouldn't be nearly as enjoyable. This episode moved at an incredibly fast pace, but luckily, the story didn't suffer for it. Echo and μ had some sort of argument before the beginning of the episode and decided to go separate ways, but the episode itself reunited them, because otherwise, there wouldn't be a story to tell. Also, they have to take part-time jobs and face off against veteran Players just to talk to someone who can possibly help them in their journey. This was one of the finest episodes Listeners has delivered and I can't wait to see what happens next.

Heh, that city gave me some major Minneapolis vibes. As it should! And of course First Avenue! That's First Avenue! (On the outside, and the little perch reference). I've been to shows there! So yeah, nice!

This episode really started getting the plot threads together too. Which I think is going to help. Frankly, I think a lot's setting up to make this one of those shows that makes a lot more sense at the end. I don't feel it's any more fast paced than many shows I watched back in the 00s. It just hasn't tied the threads together and so things feel a bit off by modern standards. And sometimes this sort of thing is a strength in the end too, as it's packing a lot of info into each episode.

The map is literally the YES album that contains roundabout, considering this show didn't already have enough JoJo references. Don't butcher me for not knowing the album name.
The mecha side of things is still ass and the show would be better without it.

GIRL 6 and Boy 9, hahaha are you kidding me? XD. Pretty nice episode, even if we are moving at a very rapid speed. It kinda concerns me that we have a different setting each episode, but it's probably fine. Seeing one episode of Denka is more than enough... He is too flamboyant for me lol.

I liked the job interview, it was funny, the bickering of Echo and Miu was a sight to behold! especially Echo getting angry at her for falling for scam, while she was mad that he didn't appreciate her care. In the end she slept on it herself LOL.

Rie Takahashi is a great seyuu, those sex talks were so well done. I kinda wish we got more of just those in this episode. He got an easier job, or rather, it's an easier job for me lol, but a part of me did want to see how Echo would fail at Miu's job. Btw anyone noticed Echo staring at that lady's ass at 4:30? wtf Echo, i didn't think you were that perverted haha.

The mumble, mumble, mumble exchange was absolutely hilarious. Ridiculous though, how they don't have a better way to send a message in their sci-fi world, even a phone would suffice, but who am i kidding, mumble for the win ehehe.

Echo getting on the line to find out Miu was on the opposite end was funny, Miu and Echo's interactions are the best in general. I like how Miu just took his money like a wife from her hard-working husband lol.

Couldn't really understand what in the world Denka is talking about, what's the "Love revolution" thing? Also, he really didn't tell them much about Jimi, not as much as he could've, that's kinda lame. Like to see the confirmation that he doesn't just feel reverence towards Jimi, he actually loves him lol. Usually we wouldn't get the confirmation and have to deduct it ourselves... Also, i wonder who those hotshots were in the beginning of the episode and will we see them again(they looked kinda cool) and what were they about to do? and what was the mistake that they've made that Denka talked about 10 years later? It's nice that the anime is making me curious...

Sometimes the pacing feels very wrong, like you know something is missing, like when Denka thanked Echo for awakening his dormant feeling (whatever it was) and however Echo managed to do that. I wanted to see more of that conversation!!! Or the first battle? i wish we could actually see them lose, evne if that lasted for a minute, rather than learning the result of it via character dialogue. These are just two of many, and this episode is not the only one, where i've noticed the pattern of speeding up the scene. There are a lot of polishing to be done!!

ED is nice, just like always (it's different every episode, but Rie Takahashi isRie Takahashi)

Man, descending onto a red-light district town, with the Denka a.k.a Mr. Kid, seems that that was the origin/starting point of the series. And damn, to get the pacing as quick as this episode was simply stunning, yet staggering for just 5 episodes in.

Echo and Mu's journey continues, descending onto nother town with a linguistic red-light district, and getting odd jobs to pass time. And boy, was this a ride. Girl 6 and Boy 9 (whew that was a reference we all know TOO well) to represent Mu and Echo's nicknames, and became a sensation overnight for the townspeople mumble-mumble-mumble murmur for Denka to get their attention, easily without a hint of suspicion.

Amidst their pet peeves working within the same town, it's hard not to laugh at their "unreal" misfortunes whilst fate putting both together in a new generation of Players.

And what would Listeners be without the mecha action to fight encylopedia characters and further progress (like a game)? That was simply too fast.

Otherwise, the first solid episode I truly enjoyed.

Not at all surprising, every title is the name of a song by the band or artist that is primarily “featured” in each episode (so far: Oasis, Einstürzende Neubauten, My Bloody Valentine, Nirvana, Prince, and next episode is Pink Floyd), but there’s tons of references to other bands too.

Yeah, seriously. This ENTIRE SHOW is nothing but non-stop musical references. I mean, episode 4 was nonstop, I'm pretty sure there wasn't a thing in the entire episode that wasn't.

Make no mistake, this show is a WORK OF ART.

No, I'm not kidding. Every single episode has been a work of art and composed of a ridiculous amount of references. I can't imagine the research that went into it, not to mention effort to make an even remotely consistent story come out of it. Sure, it might fail for many people. But this is still a heck of a work of art.

So yeah, those of you who finally saw it because of the Prince Episode? Or the Nirvana one last week? That's been every week. Even things as innocuous as the bar in the first episode. Or the random "Dream Theater" ruins in the background, or the dialog from the couple in episode 3. Almost every single shot in this show is a reference, and that's impressive.

Again, it might not click for everyone, but it's no less impressive than someone trying to use classical poetry as dialog and plot furtherance. Again, that might not always work either, but it's still art. (As a flip side, Chihayafuru does something similar, though not nearly as much volume of references, and admittedly probably ends up being a lot more accessible to everyone while being extra awesome for those who get the cultural stuff)

this was the first episode that i genuinely did not like. i appreciate we get to know more about the incident and Jimi, but i really felt how forced some of the dialogue was in this episode just so they could get some prince references in.

I also wasn't sure why Daken was so attached to Jimi? like they met for a couple days and had a conversation? but in the flashback he didn't seem too attached to him and yet he remembers exactly how many hours he was with him?

I wish they would slow down a bit with the pacing, it feels like they rush through everything so they can get to their next destination. like "we dont have time to have a decent fight or flesh out this city so lets just interrupt and move to the next location". it's frustrating because i really want to like this and i can see where they were going with things but the execution is lacking.

Love to see anime version of Prince on an anime show. This show reminds me to the feeling of Cowboy Beebop, rock edition. Sure is not as complex as the CB storyline but is still gives a lot of nice rock references including the whole rockstar model viewed by Japan.

The whole 'Chelsie Girl' and more of the UK Rock scene than the american one persay, but still quite interesting.

The whole pink brightness really irked my eyes. I can't hold myself to not cursing with the whole teasing. I mean, they told sex, sex, sex, without sex? Six nine? Lmao. Its such a cruel, man, using that shit, really. And fuck. That guy player kinda do such a shit show, but his reaction really awkward, weird and so annoying. I almost puked till the end of the scenes. Fortunately the two busty lady saved the day before i dropped this shit, and the whole information about the past incidents and new hinted about Mu's life really served as a positive vibes among these hectic episode. I was not even mention the mecha battles. Damn, its randomness really facepalmed me! Glad shit was over and i need to washed my face a hundred of time....

Another fanservice episode. It feels cheap. I want to like this show, and I appreciate all of the work that's gone into it. I just can't really get behind the characters, and it seems the further on we go, the less we get to sit with the characters on their adventure, and the more we just see them forced into contrived situations. Fanservice is supposed to be fun, but this has just been boring and cringey so far.

I mean I really liked the second episode, and I want more of it. The van scene in particular was awesome.
