Azcapotzalco

A once simple rural farming land, it has today become engulfed by the urban sprawl of Mexico City. Its origins once a town by the same name its still does retain its individual cultural traits in the neighborhoods of the past, with the historic center of the town marked by Plaza Hidalgo; remaining the focal point of this urban borough.

No ecological reserves remain in this fully urbanized borough, with the only vegetation being planted species which cover a small fraction. Instead besides the urban sprawl a large portion of the borough is used for industry and storage with a heavy majority of employed persons working within the industry, commerce and services. The zone of industry understandably is as such considered one of the most important in the district.
