The ending is not what I imagined. It was interestingly thought-out. I'm glad both the characters are alive at the end of the story.

this was a pretty good series, though im a bit confused - is takumi really aragaki?? reading this chapter, they look exactly alike and when naomi was reflecting on her memories with takumi, aragaki seemed to be touched in a certain way

They look very similar and we don't know how they disposed of Takumi's body. However, I don't think we got to see the full ending as this was an adaption of a light novel that only got one volume. Unlucky

I went and re-read this manga and since they don't outright say that Matsuzaki and Takumi could be related or be the same person. There were some indicators like :
1)Naomi didn't feel annoyed when Matsuzaki was asking her questions. She said it herself that she felt relieved. Also Naomi usually jumps when she's touched by men , but when Matsuzaki put his hand on her shoulder from behind, she didn't jump.
2)Naomi kept remembering someone was apologizing to her and then she remembered Matsuzaki said Goodbye to her. This may not mean much but both Matsuzaki and Takumi were shown two times side by side.
3)Aragaki said that Matsuzaki told Naomi of his past (they didn't show when and how), and Matsuzaki usually hides himself well but he didn't in front of Naomi.
4)Aragaki also said that Naomi was a pawn in the plan, But he wondered if that's all she was to Matsuzaki.
5)Matsuzaki gave Aragaki something to pass to Naomi. It was a ring Takumi meant to give Naomi but couldn't.
Now we don't know if Takumi really died or if Matsuzaki was a relative of Takumi .

And for what "Lunoire" has said. I don't think so. I tried comparing both Aragaki and Takumi. Takumi's Eyes are drawn in the same way Matsuzaki's eyes are drawn. Aragaki looks kind of different , also his hair.
And for why he looked touched , if you go back to when Aragaki and Matsuzaki were standing on the hill and Aragaki wondered if Naomi was really just a "Pawn" to Matsuzaki. And because Naomi wasn't driven by greed(like her friends),was a nice person until the end(just wanted justice ) so When they were talking about how it must be painful for Naomi, Naomi's answer made him look like that.
I could be wrong about all the speculations because the manga doesn't really reveal anything but i do know that Aragaki and Takumi aren't the same person.
Also iam pretty late posting in 2020....

Hmm..a bit confused. Some parts seem to strongly suggest that matsuzaki is takumi or is related to him in some way, but I don't see how that could be true. He was reported dead, not missing, so I assume his body was found after yuuki & co threw him in front of the train. I guess matsuzaki is just supposed to be a cryptic character or something..

I think it could've benefited from more chapters and a slower pace. By the end I felt like I still knew nothing about some of the main characters. And the only real horror aspect I found was the discovery that the people who had acted like Naomi's friends, had actually raped her and killed her boyfriend (or had known about it and done nothing), which would have hit a lot harder if it wasn't 12 chaps long.

interesting manga though

After rereading this masterpiece quite a few times, I got some key points to understand what exactly happened but it is just my assumption. Dr. Matsuzaki turned out to be an assassin as Aragaki said, who kills the criminals that does not get behind the bars due to their immense money power or some other reasons and does not have guilt or remorse for their sins, he does not leave traces behind and plays with the sinners minds and makes them kill each other. Investigator Aragaki helps him to do so because he can not tolerate such injustice which he mentioned in this chapter. Dr. Matsuzaki is a master of disguise who used Psychiatrist Matsuzaki, Producer Aiba and Reporter Nojima's fake personas to kill the killers here. He is a full fledged assassin because of his past explained in chapter 6 of the manga. After his parents death and the injustice of court he studied psychiatry and became a psychiatrist, but in the background he works with Investigator Aragaki to do what he did in the whole manga (the work of an assassin). He must have done it many times but since Naomi is the protagonist so her story was shown here. Investigator Aragaki said that Dr. Matsuzaki told Naomi his past which he never tells anyone, that means out of all the acting and lies he did the whole time, this was the only truth he said, mostly because he fell in love with Naomi due to the course of events in the story. Now why does Takumi and Dr. Matsuzaki's face resembles each other. That is because Naomi has not seen Takumi after losing her memories. None of the characters recognizes him, they find Matsuzaki as a new character in their life. (Even Naomi questions about his identity after gaining her memories back). If he actually looks like Takumi then everyone should recognize him since they were best friends before and killed him as well. Whether it is love or hate, they were suppose to remember that face throughout their life. This is a psychological and aesthetic manga with a psychiatrist as the deuteragonist, and the two main characters explored many psychological aspects of mind for example, "Selective Amnesia", "Split Disorder", "Psychological Hypnosis", and many more. So it is natural that they showed Naomi's (Protagonist) psychology from start to end. Since she has not seen him after losing her memories, and the only person she trusted the whole time was Dr. Matsuzaki and deep inside she fell in love with him that is why his facial features got mixed with her first love Takumi when she regained her memories. This was also mentioned by Dr. Matsuzaki in chapter 3 that the human mind does not record the memories as accurately as a video camera, declarative memories are paired with human feelings and their is a tendency for human beings to rewrite the memories according to their own convenience. We also noticed that in some panels Takumi looks a bit different from Dr. Matsuzaki and in some panels they look exactly the same. That shows that Naomi fell in love with Dr. Matsuzaki now. That is why Takumi and Matsuzaki's final romantic words to her came to her mind. "I love you" from Takumi and "Naomi-san, Goodbye" from Matsuzaki. From the beginning till the end Naomi and Dr. Matsuzaki both proved that mind is a complicated entity. This manga is a real masterpiece. Loved it.
