Am I the only one pissed off that donators uploaded the OVA to the internet?

They seriously hurt the overall Blu-ray sales the OVA will get on its official release and generally, it was only meant for them for helping out, is it really that hard for people to not play with others' kindness? The people who blabber about how good it was while not even having it are also no better.

I think you're misunderstanding how BD sales work in Japan. You buy to support the project, not just because you want to watch it - anime are financed by a small group of hardcore fans who understand that their contribution is what keeps getting the shows made; that's also why Japanese BD prices are outrageous by Western standards.
So the people who won't buy it because someone leaked the OVA before official release would have just waited until that official release, when someone else would have uploaded it. The impact on sales will be negligible, and it stands to reason that they might even get better sales because people really like what they saw and want to buy it immediately.

Doesn't buying figures and other merch also play a factor in supporting a project?

Yes, sure...
I don't think piracy hinders every demography.
There are really, really few yuri or shoujo ai works one might buy in my country.
And certainly even fewer of those OVAs.
To me, this franchise means a lot more than others and I look up to it.
The principle of such a product for them to sell might as well to keep the audience aware and hyped for more to come?

That really gives me another way to look at it, though it will still hard to digest how it was still just a way to play with one another's kindness.
