BTW if your wondering this man directed Redline, Fujiko Mine Spinoff Movies like Goemon and Jigen one. Plus he's been a character designer for all the Fujiko mine universe or continuity. Despite Fujiko Mine being Sayo Yamamoto vision ( which is bold and interesting) of Fujiko this one going to be Takeshi first one with Fujiko being the main protagonist.

More importantly, he is the disciple of Kawajiri. Looking forward to seeing how he uses Fujiko's character given the 'male-cool' vibe of first two.

Yeah i interested on his interpretation, i really liked Sayo Yamamoto interpretation of Fujiko her attitude towards sexuality. She far different from modern anime or Hollywood depiction of women her sexuality is a strength not really something to be embarrassed about. The only thing i didn't like was her interpretation of Zenigata but seeing his first two films i not really worried about that.

ohh okay yeah i think it will continue on, like how TMS made 50th Anniversary of Ashita no Joe called Megalo Box even though the author died in 1987.

Unsure about the future i assume the decision is going to made through his family if the anime can continue or not. Honestly Part 5 even though unintentional felt like a great ending for Lupin in general. I be honest i don't know how they going to top that last episode in Part 5 seems like the perfect ending for the franchise as a whole.

He so ingrained in pop culture, like SpongeBob even though creator unfortunately passed away in 2018, i think the show is still continuing for kids around the world.

Monkey punch has never had a hands on role with the anime adaptions. Them and the manga have always been separate entities only loosely connected by their basic characters and premise. A lot of the anime actually don’t even directly adapt MP’s own stories and are completely original. So the anime will continue as it always has. And it will likely far transcend the lifetime of its original creator. That’s how timeless it is.

Agreed however I do think they need permission from the family, but they most likely agree as Lupin is a cultural icon. From looking at Part 5 last episode despite being unintentional seems like the best send off for a legend.

I imagine MP himself was long aware of his limited remaining time left and cleared anything like that up. Since these projects are started much earlier in advance to their official announcements, I’m sure there are even more Lupin projects in the works even beyond the upcoming Fujiko as we speak.

I agree though, part 5 absolutely would not have been a bad point to go out on. Especially given just how much of that series was a love letter to the franchise’s history in general.

Also I should amend my previous comment as it wasn’t entirely accurate to say that he never had a role in any of the anime production. He actually partially directed the 1996 film Dead or Alive And was chief director on the recent anniversary episode Is Lupin Still Burning. But that’s about the bulk of his ties to that side of the franchise.

Yeah it references all Lupin from Part 1-4, Fujiko and Lupin relationship was the focus and wasn't a dumb cop out but honestly exceed my expectation. It took some of grittiness of Part 1, they took the fantastic Ensemble cast of part 2, they took wackiness of 3 and direct storyline from Fujiko Mine and Part 4.

For this film u should just watch the Lupin Fujiko Mine Continuity so The Woman Called Fujiko Mine, Jigen movie and Goemon movie before this.

However, if u cbf watching those Fujiko Mine series and the other films, as a standalone entry it should be sufficient enough .... In my opinion, having the original shows in context is always pretty great because showcases how subversive it is compared to the rest of the franchise. Also how much of a homage it is, towards the manga and Part 1.

we'll probably have to wait for a while because the first fansubs are usually not good, particular a niche fan base of Lupin fans. I think this probably be similar to Goemon release schedule, i do hope the english dub for Goemon comes out as Lupin dubs are usually pretty good.

I mean Lupin had Revival since 2012 in the Fujiko Mine Series, then Part 4 which wasn't the best was good transition to the modern age. But Part 5 is a god damn classic

I meant at the rate of output its going this year is resembling what was going on during the red jacket years. Where Mystery of Mamo and Castle of Cagliostro debuted while the series was still airing on TV lol.

2018 gave us part 5 and a tv special. Following that in 2019 we're getting 2 specials (Goodbye Partner and Fujiko Mine no Uso) as well as this new movie.

It kind of makes you wonder what more do they have in the pipeline!

And yeah, part 5 just floored me with the quality of the overarching narrative. Can't wait to see a potential part 6 in the near future!

I'm been asking the same thing RIP, i think eventually we will get it. Lupin isn't that famous in the west so yeah its pretty niche fan base.
